Not consitent - I like the idea of this app, particularly letting me know that i didnt do a good job in certain areas. But it's only as good as the connection. Loses connection, doesn't recognize the correct area that you're brushing - thinks I'm brushing at the top when I'm at the bottom. Doesn't recognize that I've brushed at all in some cases. Drops the connection, so it thinks you stopped brushing after 30 seconds. Reconnecting is useless as you have to wait 2 minutes 😒. EDIT: uninstalling
The brushing detection is very poor. It tells me that I'm brushing where I'm not, the front teeth (top and bottom) tend to highlight at the same time and much quicker than the other sections, so it looks like I've completed them, when I've barely touched them. It has a very hard time with my top-right teeth, so they're actually the cleanest in my mouth, yet it shows that I didn't touch them. Aside from those issues, it also completes my session when I turn the toothbrush off. Not good.
I like what this app tries to do, but it needs more work to be reliable. It's only right about what part of my mouth I'm brushing about three-quarters of the time, and sometimes it thinks I've finished when I'm actually only halfway through brushing. This makes the statistics insufficiently reliable. It's also not the easiest app to navigate.
Cool app when it stays connected to the toothbrush, which is only about 25% of the time. I have no other devices connected via Bluetooth when I brush and I've tried power cycling the Bluetooth radio and maintained a regular distance from the phone. It randomly disconnects, an issue I have not seen with any other Bluetooth device. Needs to be fixed! I would have never bought this toothbrush!
Like others say, app keeps consistently crashing. It's helpful having the app and I've seen a difference in how I use my toothbrush but the app is so infuriating at times! And it seems that every answer they have to everyone is both "don't have your phone connected to anything" or "don't have a phone made in the last 2 years because we can't update simple bugs" which is just ridiculous imo. So many of the "your phones not compatible" responses are recent/common phone models?! Come on, fix needed
Just got my toothbrush and the first night was great. Second night however I seem to have lost connection to my brush and it won't reconnect. Kinda a waste of money for features I can't even use. May return and go with Sonic Care if this is the quality of Oral-B Update: Was able to reconnect, will adjust rating if connection stays for a period of time
The app is pretty bare bones and it's a shame it hasn't been fleshed out or made to be a bit smarter/more useful. For example, there's a nice timeline of when you brush your teeth, but there's a strict view of midnight to midnight. I.e. go to bed late and it looks like you've only brushed your teeth once the day before. Other nice to haves would include nudges to brush if one hasn't been recorded, a la MyFitnessPal. Or the ability to turn on/off parts of your routine (like interdental brushes)
This app needs work and can be frustrating to use. When it works, it is motivating and educational. However, there are periods when the toothbrush and the app simply refuse to connect. There are also times when the guided brushing feature is inaccurate. This morning, the app would not register any brushing in an entire section. What good is the app if the results are not accurate?
The per-cent/averages tracked by week/month are useless, when you don't base it on the days per week/month. I.e, on the first of the month, my average will be down 99% from the previous month, the way you are incorrectly 'averaging'. I would like to be able to switch brush head types, and still preserve the usage on each head.
When brushing, most often than not, the timer lags. When this happens the session is not recorded and at the end of the session it reverts to 0:00 or records more than 1 session. That is unless you happen to turn the toothbrush off just in time when the timer is not lagging. To make it worse, the app crashes when going to Additional Routines in History!!! A disgrace to such a reputable company - Oral-B. You pay good money for a smart toothbrush, and get junk. Choose a different brand!
The connection to Bluetooth feels quite random and frustrating. My brush connected perfectly initially. But on trying to reconnect, it fails most often, and when it does connect, it quickly disconnects, making it difficult to adjust any settings via the app. I found that turning the Bluetooth off on my phone and enabling it via the app prompt can help the connection. But it's overall frustrating. The toothbrush itself is fine. The connecting is annoying.
This app leaves a ton to be desired. The app disables the vibration to tell you to move to the next section? The position detection is horrible. According to the app I will never finish brushing in 2 minutes. It takes 4 with redoing areas that I've spent more than enough time in to make the app happy. I had a Philips Smart Diamond Clean that sucked with position detection but not nearly as bad as this brush and app. The journeys disable certain modes, including sensitivity, which is just silly.
After the first several times I used it, it skipped to the tongue flossing segment at 1:97 before I had finished brushing. This app is not yet ready for prime time. Furthermore I don't use tongue flossing, but there is no way to remove that segment. I don't see any clear difference between the Daily Brush and the Whitening Brush settings. Also the pressure indicator seems random and unclear.
Cannot connect via Bluetooth, it's never worked for me. After troubleshooting with Oral-b support, my io Series 7 toothbrush was replaced. However the replacement doesn't connect either. I have tried two phones, a Google Pixel and a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, neither can connect. Resetting the app and toothbrush hasn't worked. I believe this issue is with the app because the toothbrush is visible in my phone's Bluetooth settings but the app cannot find it and you can only pair using the app.
New device. Easily conducted for the first time. Second time? It just won't connect again. I read some other people's comments. Hard to believe that you recommended to disconnect any other Bluetooth device to make this work. Haven't decided yet, we'll probably return the thing. Terrible REQUIREMENT. This should not be advertised as a feature of the phone if it really does not meet Bluetooth rules.
The system is glitchy and laggy sometimes which I hate it. Althought the system know the time you brush too hard, overtime etc, the streak for 100%s are hard as mentioned at the first part (glitchy and laggy). I still do recommend this despite the fact batteries drain fast. The app and the brushing tool cleaned my teeth cleaner and better. Area of improvement that the system can be fixed to be better and the medals should be a little easier to get. In summary, I reccomand this app and the tools.
My 3rd edit, I've had an addition many brushing sessions since the last review and the app has worked perfectly every time since, thus, allowing for a better star rating. The first time I had downloaded the app and tried using it, I had my phone to the right of me, I've since had it on the bathroom counter to the left of me, I don't know if that has helped with the connection but I've not had a dropped connection on any of the 20+ brushing sessions since. Strange but I'm happy with the result.
The worst user experience. EVER. Crashes halfway through a brushing session. Disconnects or doesn't establish a good connection from the very beginning. The app doesn't provide any "truly useful" information as most of the information is manually put into the app yourself. Just pointless. Truly truly pointless.
