Orchid: VPN, Secure Networking

Needs work and keeps disconnecting but overall good concept just needs some polishing up. Would be nice to be notified if it disconnects or to stop traffic upon such event. Speeds aren't horrible but not there yet either. In app purchases is the way to go

Great concept, but lack of customer support tools. I bought credits in-app, I click connect and nothing happens, just says connecting... The process is needlessly confusing and cumbersome.

This tech is impressive. The idea is totally awesome I love it. However the implementation is bad. Crypto is not super confusing but this app makes it seem that way. It is also very expensive. I'm surprised people pay for this. I don't have ETH just to get OXT and the required ETH with all fees etc is wayyy too much money. At least for my needs. Perhaps after more time and getting more established will allow them to ease up on the cost I don't know. It's not there yet at all.

I want to love this. I don't know if it's Android 11 beta or just the app but it works about 40% of the time. The other 60% it either says it is connected but there is no connectivity or it is slow to the point of pointless. 2 stars because this is definitely a beta if not alpha release. I also don't understand how I have been using this for the last few weeks and yet my account shows the same orchid balance. Great concept though and each update has made it work better. Keep up the work!

I need a VPN only a few times a week when I'm logged into public networks. This app allows me to do so and pay as I use. Since I don't use a lot of data in those instances, I also don't pay much. In fact, only a few cents until now! If I understand correctly, it is even a safer VPN. I found it by chance, I was not aware that such a VPN even existed! One thing I didn't fully get is the “multi hop” mode.. I guess it is a kind of even safer mode. Great app!

Great, amazing, awesome idea. I actually NEED a VPN, unlike most of you that are trying to download the latest Star Wars. I'm living in China and any app or website that uses a Google .API is blocked, plus many other Western websites... Anyway, I set up everything correctly (which will be a huge challenge to most people, because it requires a bit of technical skill or at least understanding), and, upon connection, I was getting zero bandwidth despite adding new hops, etc. Deleted the app.

The app runs really really smooth! Good job, devs! Just a tip: On the Help page in-app, you should add a text saying something like "This is a 1-time setup.", so more people actually go through setting up their first hop and dont get scared off by too much instructions at once.

Works great! Have been using Orchid VPN for about a month or so. So far have not had any issues at all, flip switch on and you are on. I'm not sure why these folks are having issues. I'm running orchid on a 7 year old phone. Use metamask to create your account. I'm also fairly satisfied with speed.

Great concept and I wish this project success. However 9 times out of 10 when I try to enable the VPN it crashes within 10 seconds. This also seems to drain my battery very quickly. I have only had 1 successful sustained private browsing session since funding my account. I'm on an S8 Edge.

Bought this coin off Gemini and didn't do much research on it beforehand. Now after downloading the Android app version 0.9.25, transferring 100 OXT to my managed address it still doesn't work. I figured the connect button would work after I had some in my account but still nothing. Not just me who is having this issue and my first impression is not good anymore. Since I already invested the money I'll keep testing the app and see if it improves.

Simply doesn't work for long. Everytime you connect it works for like a minute maybe. Then there are no tcp connections after a while. Any support just says log off and on back in. Still doesn't fix the working for more than a minute problem. I want this to work. It should be the future.

This app is really helpful 👍. But i have faced some problems using it. I can't control multiple hops to connect which i want. I added some wireguard hops but it always connect to the first hop i added. Kindly add the feature to connect to any hop i want. Thanks.

The concept of this is fantastic. Hats off to the developers of this. A free and private web is something we all deserve, and here it has been made possible. Being tracked doesn't particularly bother me, but people making money from my data does. This makes it a thing of the past 👍

I was curious about the orchid protocol and the VPN service.. All up until I actually tried it. So for one, it does not work. Funding your account through either the google pay or crypto option both fail at giving your account access. I am not sure why, but am assuming it has something to do with poor fee design when interacting with the xDai chain. Second, support is non existent. This has happened 2 times now. One, funding with crypto (roughly 200.00 USD ) and with the cash option. Bad app

Great idea but not ready for the general public. Onboarding is too complicated for mass adaptation. Get a UIUX designer it's very developer heavy. Will keep an eye on this and I am looking forward to once hosting actually becomes available.

Cool idea; but, doesn't work. Crashes on my Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 with a signal 6 connection refused. The directions are also not great - it's possible that the app crashes because I configured incorrectly due to bad directions.

It is an app on alpha stage. Not even beta. The concept is cool but the execution as of today is poor. I imagine due to the complexity of the tech powering it. Hope they continue to improve. Excited about the concept.

Fantastic app. Game-changing technology... what most of the world doesn't realize is this is the only VPN on Earth that has the capability of protecting your information. No other VPN is secure because no other is integrated with the blockchain.

Doesn't work for me. I have followed the instructions to the letter, bought my OXT, connected my account, waited a day, but nothing. My balance does not show up on the app and although it says it's connected it's not. Nice idea but not ready yet.

the app ui is cool, but the performance is very very bad, i've used wireguard vpn on official wireguard app and its work fine, but when i trying to use it (the wireguard configuration), the result is nothing, i wait for long time but it didnt works, its should be good when openvpn and wireguard available in one app... btw i use wireguad for tunneling cuz i have no data plan

is not a free app, and most probably it's a scam, automatically charged to my card 99 dollars of subscription without my authorization, and without any notification or message of warning that this amount will be charged. I needed to contact my bank and cancel this transaction

Once the UI is upgraded and the funding process becomes more intuitive this app will be amazing but right now it's main audience is crypto computer nerds who have the time to fiddle with all the small details and look up guides on how to set it up.

With all the VPN services out in the marketplace this one is game changer. Being able to HOP or even add more VPN into the HOP. Please make it so the App imports the OPVN files types. It would make it more user friendly!

Does not work at all (No Internet) when VPN is turned on after setting up with a working Orchid account. Edit 1: The new update makes adding an Orchid Account very confusing. I am still confused how to link an Orchid account to the application.

I changed it to 2 stars, finally got some support hopefully I can give it more when the app actually works. Gave a bad review and it was deleted. App works to take your money then crashes with no customer support. I wish it did work if someone can reach out to me I will gladly change my review... Another update and a week later still nothing. Its time to get rid of this oxt!

Ditch ERC-20. Too Expensive! This is no doubt, a phenomenal idea that should not be hampered by legacy blockchain tech like ETH. The problem is gas fees for those who have to swap eth for oxt. Please bridge over to a more efficient chain like Algorand or something. In the meantime, keep up the great work on the dev side.

Probably not for the average user. If you know nothing about crypto currency this will be more trouble than it's worth. The speed wasn't up to my expectations. For payment pseudo anonymity, you can pay for NordVPN with cryptocurrency. Orchid also cannot match the speed of other pay VPNs I've tried. I still maintain my orchid wallet and hope that this improves as a backup VPN. The concept is good, but it isn't quite there yet
