Using OS MapFinder

Adding OS Landranger and OS Explorer mapsYour app includes road maps for England, Scotland, Wales and islands included in Great Britain. Our detailed OS Landranger (1:50 000 scale) and OS Explorer (1:25 000 scale) maps are also available as in-app purchases. Each map section is 100 km2. Go to ‘Buy Maps’, zoom in to the area you want and select the scale. Once purchased, you can download your maps to multiple Android devices on the same Google® account

App and Map sizesThe app is a large download as it is designed to be used even when you are offline, so it has to save the high resolution maps and search database to your device. Included in the app is overview mapping for all of Great Britain, plus the ability to search for towns, cities, postcodes and places of interest. Please ensure your device has sufficient free space and you are connected via WiFi before beginning the download.
Maps sections are around 60MB each. To save space you can remove unneeded map sections from your device, and then download them again for free when you next need them
Map UpdatesWe will occasionally update maps to reflect changes. To get an updated map, just remove and re-install the map section – the most recent version will be automatically downloaded.

Have had this app for around 2 years and every time I open it, it gets worse. Have spent around £20 on it buying various maps for areas I frequent and visit, and it appears that the developers have abandoned it. As a reputable organisation in the digital age the OS should be at the cutting edge of this technology. I feel ripped off.
I used to use this app a lot, purchased many tiles but wasn't until i bought a new phone and while setting it up this app kept crashing which i thought was odd. It wasn't until i delved deeper and to my amazement found out that it was obsolete. What was worse that instead of advertising this to people who had bought it there was nothing. Only on reading on the play store that tiles are not interchangable and to download a new app and start all over again.
I've been using this App for years, huying hundreds of maps every time j went on a hike somewhere, covering the whole of the Lakes, Dales and Moors, and it's been great. OS have stopped supporting it and they've given me the codes to transfer my purchases. However...a) it takes a long time to type them all in, b) they inexpicably and suddenly don't then work, c) the new OS maps App sometimes doesn't work or even let you log on when you're relying on it and d) you lose your saved gpx trails. All in all, it's pretty disgraceful customer service for anyone who bought maps. Whilst you could rely this App when out hiking, you can't rely on the new one. For thst reason alone, i'd also give the new App one star.
Unsupported App. I have noticed from other reviews that the old Mapfinder is now been replaced. I bought a lot of maps for walking and saved many walks with OS Mapfinder.. Questions. How do I go about getting maps I paid for on the new app and is there a way I can retrieve my saved walks from an old phone, is there a file I can transfer or over write? I enjoyed the old app and look forward to using the new one If I can resolve these issues.
Like others, I have used this app for years and have recently reinstalled. I can't get my maps back, and the transfer process is painful as I have to go through my apps history and gather receipts to then email to them to move to a subscription model. ***Edit: The OS commented below, I sent a request to them 12 days ago having spent a long time digging through my purchase history. Still not reply from the migration team or customer services.***
It wont load past 44% with either WiFi, or Mobile data since ive installed it on my new phone. It states I have no internet, which is incorrect. I have uninstalled and re-installed several times to no avail. Something is wrong. I have maps that I have previously bought on my old phone and can no longer access.
Changed phone won't reinstall. I used this ap for years purchased lots of os maps. Worked great. Changed my phone, now it won't install, says no internet whole time. Even though there is a very good connection!!! Very disappointing. Can I have my old maps back?? Fix it!!
I have used this app for some years, having purchased the maps that I need. I have just changed phones from Samsung S7 to S10....it won't download more than 50% of the app, despite reboot of my phone, waiting for hours or uninstall and reinstall. Why does this app no longer work? Us it because the only other OS map app demands a monthly subscription, whereas this app allowed me to download and pay only for the maps I need? What happens to the money for the maps I've already paid for? Refund?
Please, would you guys delete this app from the store, It's no longer being developed and as a customer, I hate being messed about re-downloading an app that doesn't even sign in. Giving that this page still insists it's compatible, which is misleading,.. Please, at least put a message on the page that informs customers that its no longer a working product.
Excellent app now replaced by the useless and much less user friendly OS Maps. Why? Can OS make more money from OS Maps? I spent ages keying in a huge list of sixteen-character codes to be able to access my expensive collection of maps only for an update to OS Maps to render them all unavailable! What a waste of my time and money. NOT a happy customer.
No longer works. I've spent a small fortune in maps in this so over the years but it does not load in my pixel 4 and there are no viable alternatives that allow me to use my investment. Really angry now... OS have replied to my email taking me "Tough. OS Maps is better and we've abandoned this product". This product is zero-star and OS is also zero-star.
The app appears to have been discontinued. No communication to inform customers. I have spent money on a lot of maps which I can no longer access! So disappointed. And the OS Map app is awful. Never works. Why not discontinue that one.
Used to work on my phone but I zoomed into a map and it crashed. Now it won't load beyond 44% begore coming up with a Mobile/WiFi Setting. Nothing changed so why is this happening. I've tried uninstalling and installing but still the same.
I bought many map tiles on here, assured that this is by the reputable Ordnance Survey; and so the tiles, like a real map, where mine for life. Now the app is dysfunctional, and the tiles do not transfer to other apps. OS took money under false pretences. Will not buy OS apps again. Disgraceful.
used to be great but has suddenly stopped working looks like all the money I've spent on map's has gone to waste. UPDATE Just to add to this I contacted ordnance survey customer service and gave them proof of the maps I had purchased through this app and they sent me codes for another OS app so I have them all back.
Have purchased maps on here for my home area and other areas of Scotland that I visit, now I can't get app to open at all to access the maps purchased. I know that development stopped but until recently I was still able to buy mail tiles and still used app as it did not require WiFi signal to use the maps I downloaded. Now I can't access these.
Spent a significant amount of money on maps with expectation that these were now paid for and available to me indefinitely. Frustratingly OS then decided to stop supporting this software and the maps I have purchased can no longer be accessed. In theory you can write to them and claim the equivalent value against their new software, but need to give the tile references you purchased, which is impossible because you cannot open MapFinder to check, and receipts. OS clearly don't value customers.
I used to love this app but it has now stopped working! It won't load, says there is a problem. I've tried all the usual "fixes" to no avail. Had bought quite a few maps, no just a waste of money! Very disappointed!!! 🤬
Defacto best UK mapping app for hikers and bike riders there is. Detailed maps cost a few pence a square... Small price for this degree of reliability. #updated... 2021... Now withdrawn much to my disappointment. Going to try the replacement.
Lost my purchases. The support for this app seems to have gone and I am no longer able to access the maps I purchased. Very disappointed in the Ordnance Survey.
This app adds a new dimension to using Ordnance Survey maps. Never again will you be lost in the wilderness or fail to find your way home even in the thickest fog. An essential tool for all OS walkers.
Can't install on new phone. Keeps saying that can't connect to Internet. Have loads of maps that have purchased and need to access. All stuck on old phone. Help
Why i cannot see my purchased maps? I have paid a lot of money for lot of segments and now I cannot even download app? I have purchased them, i got a right to see them!!!! I cannot transfer bought segemnts of map to your "new" app. I want my money back!!!!!!
app fails as repeatedly states no wifi or 3g despite having just downloaded it. have deleted and reinstalled but makes no difference. frustrating as used to work fine
I've had this app for years and it worked fine. Now I've upgraded my phone and I can't download the app, which means I no longer have access to all the maps I previously paid for. Very poor
I spend money and then they abandon me! Not even an email telling me my purchases are useless. App won't even open with android 9.0. Thought this was reputable famous company. They should be able to recall what I purchased with Google address but can't!!!
This app doesn't work. I have loaded it 6 times and when it starts it trys to download the maps and gives up at 44 percent. It's useless.
After buying lots of maps and spending lots of money. It now appears that this app no longer works and I have to pay for a subscription. Very poor.
Can you please help. This app no longer works and constantly crashes at 44% when trying to reinstall. It then tells me that their is a problem with my Internet connection. Both my WiFi and mobile data work perfectly with all other apps as it did with this one. I have a lot of maps that I have paid for but now can no longer access them. I due to go away up the Brecon Beacons/Taff's trail next Monday. Please can you tell me a way to access my maps. Thank you
