This is not an app, it's an interface. I'm not sure what they think is simple about a senior having to relearn an entire interface. Make it an app and keep it simple. I was looking for a simple app with nice easy big buttons to read and use for my elderly mother to make video calls with my grandson. This is nothing of the sort. It wants to completely change your Android interface.
This app in theory is great; however, the execution was extremely poor. I downloaded this app for my grandmother and purchased the family subscription with an auto monthly payment. Almost every time we tried to use it, one of us would receive an error about our subscription not being valid. My app still says my subscription expired in Dec 2018 but I have been charged every month in 2019. I have canceled multiple times through the app and reached out to Oscar. Apple had to step in to help
Such a great user experience. Very easy to use. It has colorful large buttons to start all sort of applications like news, weather or games. I can see a picture of my family so I can select for making a call.
This should have just worked but is full of bugs and faiilures. It wouldnt matter so much, except it's an app/interface for elderly and vulnerable people. The team are very responsive, but there shouldn't be these issues to respond to in the first place. As a result, I am unable to communicate how I'd like with my mother while I am abroad. Oscar is a great idea but if you care about your senior loved ones then I'd advise you to avoid.
I am using Oscar Senior with my Mom for more than a year and I am very grateful for this app. Especially during last few weeks because of pandemic. She is locked down and this is the only way how I (and the rest of our family) connect to her. Even I used this on my iPhone and trying to also has Android device, and it works properly. Thank you.
The app is unintuitive, as a tool to help an older relative it's useless and to see that there's a subscription for it is ridiculous. The trial couldn't even help with what i needed this app for which was to remote into my elderly aunt's phone and help her.
Great app to combat Covid19 restrictions on visiting care home. I have posted negative report previously but now realise problem was beyond Oscar Senior staffs control. My Mother (86) describes it as " just like a vist" and also very easy to use.
Crashes when accessing contact on senior's device. Unusable.
Tried it for the auto answer function for Grandma. Doesn't work 95% of the time
Good idea, horrible execution. These guys should rather sell carrots on the Sunday market than do apps
Buggy on Moto 4x after this last update. Will not reload after initial install...
The app is exactly what I'm looking for! And I would be willing to pay for it. But not before the bugs are removed. Here are some for example: - the applications can't be re-arranged (although the message says so..) - I have three "Video Help" icons. Every time I try to remove one, another icon appears :-) - the "Information and Usage" menu shows nothing - if I set the screenlock off (display timeout is still on) the messaging doesn't work anymore - the display lights, but I see the app home page and the message doesn't appear. - I really miss translation of the senior icons in another languages - I'm willing to participate in translation. There are just few buttons and labels, but it's important to be understandable. Looking forward to see the updates ...
We LOVE this App, our grandma's 94 years old and uses this easily, no effort! We are glad it is free for the seniors because they are already on a limited budget and allowing the administrator of the account to handle that is great! Well worth the $$ to keep in touch with your loved one. Our grandma's quality of life is so much better because she can write to us, video chat, see grandkids pictures we send to her app, and get news and Facebook as an option. And you can administer and control her device remotely. Plus you give approval on who connects with your loved one providing a safety net. Need I say more? :)
Great concept, but during the trial period the weather data doesn't update. Great way to confuse the old guy. :(
Awesome App! Easy to utilize, and contains numerous alternatives.
Great application. I Really cherish it. Very prescribe it!!
Staggering Its a unimaginable application ...famous
My mom learned to use Oscar Senior very fast. She finds it easy and enjoys browsing the web.
My grandfather quickly got the hang of it. Useful app!
Do you have video conferencing in your road map?
This app is a bit buggy. The weather and news apps do not work. However, it has great video chat and other social options.
Seems like it's a good app and I like being able to set up my mom's usage remotely as I live 3000 miles away. However, I wish here was a way to add several photos at once. There are many photos we want to share with each other and an app like this is the easiest way for my mom's aid to help her do so but only being able to add one photo at a time is very tedious the and time consuming. Also we tried the video call and it was very garbled. Other than those 2 issues it seems to be a good app so far
I work at an assisted living facility and Oscar Senior has been a life saver for some of the residents there! Having a few large buttons on the screen is exactly what we needed. The buttons are customizable through the app on my phone and I can have multiple people attached to my account. It's super simple to message and video call which is great for families! The app looks sleek, simple and no lag. Highly recommend for older folks who want a the fun of a tablet and phone without the frustration!
My parents live in a different state and we had trouble getting in touch. This app solved the problem for us! Thank you!
Keep working on this guys.
Glad that I found this app. My parents are very enthusiastic when we video chat with them.
Great! 88 year old dad has no experience with computers, but he can use Oscar Senior without any problems.
My mom loves it! Easy to use and still feature-rich
Makes long-distance caregiving so much easier! Videocalls and photo sharing are the best.
So far so good when it comes to setting up a simple interface and apps and games to go with it for a mentally disabled person. However, after admin access has been requested, and the caregiver has updated the senior's interface, the admin buttons disappear after the care giver has closed the program. The senior has to remove the help request, and re-request help again. That makes things difficult, and I would like to keep using this, but it is a deal breaker
