Oscilloscope Pro

NFX Oscilloscope is a simple signal vs. amplitude analyser.
Currently there are two input options for the application.

***
* PLEASE ENSURE THE GABOTRONICS DEVICE IS UP TO DATE!!****
* USB SUPPORT *****
* (only for android 3.1 and greater) The newest and best input option is a USB hardware device provided by Gabotronics. USB host mode has now been compatible since android 3.1, therefore most new phones and tablets will support USB host mode (Please check device). NFX Oscilloscope supports the Gabotronics Xprotolab/Xminilab, this has 2 analogue input channels and 8 digital channels and measures a tiny 2.5 x 4 cm!! The device it's self is a cheap portable alternative to most mainstream oscilloscopes, and has many different features. Connecting the Xprotolab to the NFX Oscilloscope provides a powerful and cheap oscilloscope platform for your portable needs. For more information on the Xprotolab or Xminilab click the following links.http://www.gabotronics.com/development-boards/xmega-xprotolab.htmhttp://www.gabotronics.com/development-boards/xmega-xminilab.htm

So match this application with the cheap device from gabotronics and you will get a great portable oscilloscope!Note: Only the analogue channels, logic Channels and tone generator is supported on the xprotolab/xminilab/xprotolab plain

Spec list for xprotolab:2 Analog InputsMaximum Sampling rate: 2MSPSAnalog Bandwidth: 200kHzResolution: 8bitsInput Impedance: 1MΩBuffer size per channel: 256Input Voltage Range: -14V to +20V

Currently the USB mode has been tested on Samsung Galaxy Nexus , Asus Transformer , Asus Nexus 7 , Samsung Galaxy S3There has been problems reported with android version 4.3 and USB host, there is a major bug in the release, which is set to be updated at some point in the future.

Please note : Most devices will need a OTG cable to enable usb host mode. See phone specific instructions for more information.

****
* Microphone SUPPORT ******The second option is the microphone input to the android device. This can be used to attach a scope lead to the jack socket. More information can be found at the following website.http://www.instructables.com/id/A-Preamplifier-for-Smartphone-Oscilloscopes/Features include, triggering for different impulse and continuous signals. In addition to this there is level measurement and fundamental frequency readings

It is possible to control the amplitude, time/div and trigger level whilst monitoring. Settings included trigger directions, sample rates and voltage span calibration.

It works really well once I updated the firmware on my xprotolab plain. Gabotronics has all the instructions. Android 8.0 It would be nice if this supported the I2C and hex packet sniffer pins, but it only does scope and AWG.

Does not work with Xprotolab Plain on Galaxy S7 Android 6.0.1 with powered usb hub or unpowered adapter. With powered hub "no USB devices detected." At least I got refund easily. Please fix and then I'll purchase again. *Update* did not get refund! 😠

I just received the Xminilab Portable. After playing with that hardware for a while to familiarize myself with its basics, I downloaded this app to my Nexus 7 (running KitKat) and connected the scope to the Nexus 7 by an OTG cable. The tablet makes for a gorgeous screen for viewing the waveforms. Using drag and pinch to move and change the size of the waveforms is very cool. I find it pretty intuitive. Within a few minutes of playing with the app I could do all of the basics I need.

Work like a charm with the Xminilab and uses great touch interface. Takes a bit of a learning curve, but it's niiice!

I also use this app, albeit on my Samsung Galaxy S3, with my Gabotronics Xprotolab scope. It takes the scope to a whole other level. It makes using the xprotolab a bit easier. Plus it looks so cool. I showed and demonstrated the app and the device to my automotive instructors and classmates, and it blew their minds. Lol, overall great app, but even greater with an Xprotolab.

I see the xproto and xmini almost identical. Xproto is working fine so I wonder will the xminilab also work? So that I can put away the magnifing glass man!

Fortunately this is an active project and It seems the developer is still updating. I need to make time to build my probe so I can give this app a real in depth review

Great. Performs very well on HTC Incredible. Great UI. More options would be nice but I will not give less than 5 stars for that price. Good job!!

This does not work at all (It doesn't even boot up)on a Samsung Epic (and it seems I will not be able to get my $8 back.) Is this some kind of con?

A. G. u. Mar 17, 2011

Does exactly what is advertiseed. Paid $50 for a similar app for a Windows phone several years ago. Nice job - great price.

Force closes on cliq XT (android 1.5). Too bad, it looked fun.

Not fancy, but gets the job done and controls are slick. For my purposes, being able to manually set the sync delay would be a boon. (Analyzing FSK)
