Temperature readings are not always up to date, so I might underestimate the risk. The calculator option can make up for this, but only if the temperature and humidity ratings are known values. Otherwise, information is clear and easy to use. If the weather readings would update to current conditions, I'd give 5 stars.
This app is great for determining the heat index outside. I've been using it through half of the summer now, and it helps me gear up for bad (hot) days when I'm working. It DOES NEED a way of backing out of the app, though, without completely closing it....
It's been a few years since I used the NIOSH APP for Hearing Conservation. I was out of the Safety industry for a year. I'm back in and with a company that is serious about safety. WOW, & now my 12 year old guided me here (on the phones that are costing me $170 a month). NIOSH and cell phone technology makes everything worth the cost and makes my job fun and much less time consuming. CDC/NIOSH is now at the top of my list. (Noble and truly fulfilling their purpose keeping people safe)
Terrible, if I could rate this app a 0, I would. I can't even get the app to work. In my opinion it's got a lot of issues, definitely got a lot of potential but it's not where it needs to be. I think the creators just threw this app together. It's just a terrible app all the way around.
Not very accurate... first day installing, the actual temp out side was 107° and I download this app to check the index . it said current temperatures were 100, low risk... the actual heat index was 110. im dealing with small children outside, this needs to be accurate!
Error message was miss leading: said I had network problems or Airplane mode was on. Even though I had given permission for using GPS while using the app, I had to turn on the GPS to allow it to work. Then very nice
Was great at first but doesn't update to current weather conditions. I am literally standing in a rain storm with my local weather telling me it's 81 degrees outside while this app is telling me its 101 and no chance of rain.
not very accurate, temp off up to 5 deg from NOAA website. 2 phones running the app side by side and HI is different by 3-5 deg.
Updated my previous review. App now functions properly after they released updates. I will be sending app info to my regional maintenance supervisor to send out to all properties.
can not exit back to home screen when pushing back key. does not give alerts when heat is to dangerous or moving threw the charts in app
This app looks pretty neat, but it doesn't look like it covers cold weather extremes. Is there anything like this for winter time for cold weather states?
Works great for close to a year. Then after you get updates on your phone the app stops working.
Automatic calculate HI using area temp/Rh. Great app. Also, good references for heat related injuries, prevention, & treatment.
Basic heat index if you wear gear the limits are lower you can't add any risk factors. Like coveralls FR, green gear, yellow gear, tyvek, Hazmat suit, fresh air, fully encapsulated suit ect. In full sun,in shade, next to hot Equipment.
Won't load. Used to depend on this for safety outdoors but now it won't even open.
Crashes on startup. Cannot use.
I'm a preschool teacher and this is great for determining the safety of outside time.
The new, 3 categories only, update, not useful. Living in a VERY hot climate 8 months out of the year, I really relyed on specific and accurate readings. I really do not feel comfortable using this app to help determine risk factors and safety.
