OTP SmartBank

Using OTP Bank’s Android application, you can easily access OTP Bank’s array of electronic banking services: OTPdirekt Smartbank, OTP Bank’s ATM and branch locator. In addition you may access currency exchange rates and use the moneychanger.
Technical requirements:
- Device: min. 240x320 resolution, min. 512 MB RAM
- OS: 4.0.3 or higher Android phone or tablet.
- Tablet design for tablets from resolution 800x480.

OTPdirekt SmartBank

In order to access OTPdirekt SmartBank, you will need to register (in addition to OTPdirekt internet registration) at your local OTP branch, or via OTPdirekt internet or telephone service. To register, you will need to use Mobile signature for the internet service. Following registration, the services will be made available immediately.

Login method

SmartBank application works in two different ways depending on the chosen login method:


- Simple loginUsing ’Simple login’, the application does not ask SMS code neither in case of login, nor in case of transactions. However, execution of active transactions (transfer, 24/7 transfer between OTP bankcards, mobile top-up, purchase of motorway vignette) is only possible based on the pre-saved templates in the internet service.


- ‘Normal’ loginThe method of functioning equals to the internet service. Active transactions can be executed to any beneficiary. SMS code is asked based on the Mobile Signature settings of the internet service (in case of login and/or transactions).

Too many issues for a banking app: Number input fields are hard to use. Changing limit failed 4 times in a row with an error, but 23Ft was deducted each time. You can issue transfers after hours without having to sign. After hours transfer becomes pending successfully, but the message on the next screen seems like an error. The app is half english half hungarian. This is what I found after a week of use. I'm sure there's many more.

Works better than the old one. Uses fingerprints. Overall good app but there is one really annoying thing: you cannot list all your incoming transactions of a year in a single view. For this you need to select each month one by one which is extremely impractical and time consuming.

I have experienced a bug and when I contacted customer service they told me that probably my internet provider or router has an issue. I got this error: "Communication error! The selected WIFI network is inadequate for using SmartBank." However, I was on MOBILE data. NO WIFI involved. Still, the customer service was sure about me having problems with my internet provider... 😅 (I had 4G and maximum signal) It would be much better, if there would be a direct contact to the developers...

Pretty much useless for international clients of the bank. It would be great to have the option to execute SEPA payment(outside of the bank). Without this feature app seems to be pretty useless since you can check only your balance. It would be great to have this frature in the app,since internet banking is not working.pretty often and i am waiting for the confirmation sms for transfer - and it never arrives(regardless of web browser).

I used to love this app, and I'd give 5* but: I got a new phone transferred the app, tried to register without success. Meanwhile old phone died instantly so I desperately need to use the app on new phone. Tried 5 times to register, but was impossibly!!! I filled all data, I got a code via SMS, I filled the received code, than I get again & again the following message: HIBA! Pillanatnyilag a banki rendszer nem elérhető. Kérjük, tranzakcióját ismételje meg később. 😱 🤐 💔

card payment approvals are seriously slow, cumbersome and unreliable. a lot of the times tapping rhe notification does nothing, and even if it does, it loads way too much and I have to authentitace at least 2 (sometimes more) times. other banking apps have a way more streamlined experience.

The app did make my life much easier from transactions point of view, but for the last few months it became unusable. After identification it won't let me into my profile (only loads), then notifies me that my profile was deleted and please re-register. I already did that for at least 10 (!) times, results are the same. After re-registration it lets me in, if it has a good day I can do what I originally wanted, then won't let me in anymore. In summary: if functioning good, but UNSTABLE...

Please explain what is happening? I can not even sign in because the app displays an error that my network is not appropriate. What do you mean by that? I and several others have this error for days and there is not even a single message that you are trying to fix this or that we should use an other app or anything. I work in development too, you attitude is the "not appropriate" not our network :D. Seriously. Fix this issue or communicate.

Awful banking app and also a rubbish banking experience. The app is extremely slow and the language used is so clunky it makes even simple tasks a hassle. Then on top of this, you are charged petty fees for anything you would normally expect for free from a bank, like you have to pay to receive notifications(???) and other things which are really basic things to expect from an app. I can't believe OTP is making its money from these pointless little fees, it's like they're there just to annoy.

The app is very slow, I am not able to log in or approve credit card payments because of it. I tried to find a Customer service portal or something, but of course because I am not able to log in, I could not flag the issue. Any chance to check what is going on and inform the users once the issue is gone?

When I try to do a custom search, the app keeps on crashing! Doesn't matter how many times I restart the app. You people need to fix this ASAP!!! This wasn't an issue before, so it has to do something with the newest update.

Not very English language friendly app. For instance, the transaction records/statement are only in Hungarian. Also, it keeps askiy for the update regularly, which is of no problem if we don't have to register again everytime it is updated!

All in all it's a good app for quick transfers, checking your balance and everyday banking, it really makes your lofe easier. The only thing I've found a little complicated is handling the settings through the app.

-Absolutely useless for any real time transaction approval. -SLOW = If you are lucky then it just takes ages to log in. (>5 min) -UNRELIABLE = If you are unlucky then it will take a very long time to log in AND then deletes your whole profile. -FAULTY = And No it is not a "temporary issue" since after one or two uses you ALWAYS need to completely recreate your profile because of the constant profile deletion issue. (Re-registered and Recreated my profile at least 5+ times so far)

Just trying to make a simple transaction is so difficult, trying to put the SMS code is so complicated, such a long number at the end of the text makes it difficult to put it for the approval. And you cannot make many things in the app.

App is good but so so slow. Any action even a simple login you are presented with a spinning wheel for nearly 60 seconds. Everything takes a long time to do. Feels like an 80s dialup.

The most outdated application I'm using. The Smart Broker is a completely different application with a tons of mystery. The 2 app needs to be one. Past transactions should be seen like it is seen on Revolut. Its usage is far from comfortable.

The Interface of OTP bank isnt user friendly as it could be, and even though there's an option for English, confirmation texts and such are still in Hungarian, making it a bit difficult for foreigners to use.

Kindly give English translation or English language option for the transaction statements. I am sure many international students use this app and not everyone of us understands Hungarian. Also, the statements are not updated soon enough (at least takes a day or two). Would have given 5 🌟 if not for these two bugs! *EDITED: isn't it funny that the response here is in Hungarian when i was talking about non-availability of English translation!😂 Very poor response from you guys! Take 2 stars now!
