Worked Ok two days ago, shortly after installing. Now, on the login page, after entering correct credentials or using autofill, it simply refreshes the page, clearing the fields, and makes you start again. You can do this ad infinitum! No error messages or problems displayed. Currently not worth the trouble if you're relying on it. Should be a good facility but the basics aren't working, I'm afraid. No login = no app. Going in via web pages, same credentials obviously, works just fine.
This is already a vast improvement over the old app. The ability to download videos to watch offline is particularly good, as I tend to have buffering problems using the website (even on standard definition). I feel like a few things could be better integrated (links within the text to the answers at the end of the chapter, and back again, for example) but on the whole I'm very impressed. (I'm studying TM111, and about to start MST124, although it doesn't look like the latter is supported yet.)
Would love to review, but having downloaded etc, it turns out my module isn't on the app yet, so it is completely useless to me. Very frustrating, as this module is entirely online, with no physical resources, so it would have been great to have it all available on an app. Gave 3 stars, as I had to give something, and I can't actually say whether the app is good or bad, as I haven't been able to use it.
It logs in then shows an error "you do not have permission to access this page". After that I get to the home page, a pop-up asks what country I'm in but the OK button doesn't function to get past this screen. So on Android, the app seems to be broken right now. UPDATE: I input my address on the web page so the pop-up no longer appears. Still get the error when I log-in, once I exit that I can access account but downloading courses doesn't work. The PDF, kindle, word buttons...none function.
Unoptimised, less features than using the OU website on desktop browser, when such features should still exist. Like starring forum discussions and posts. Sometimes resorts to using mobile browser like when booking tutorials which isn't acceptable. Good UI design though, it's salvageable so please keep working on it.
I have to be honest, I wasn't expecting much from the app. I've been blown away! I'm able to read through my module on my phone, download the textbooks BY CHAPTER so that I don't clog up my storage, and receive TMA feedback, amongst other things. As a mum of 3 and full-time carer to a disabled child, this app has meant I can do 15 minutes when I can, no matter where we are. This app is enabling me to study, so thank you ♥
This app did work fine but now once logged in it continously takes me back to the log in page. Even when I'm logged and and can the see the module page it brings the log in page back up. It never was like this. Please fix it.
This app has recently started to become really useful for studying with the OU. I am pleased that more modules have been added, such that I can use the app for the majority of my study. My only gripes are that the loading times for the screens (such as startup) are too long and put me off, and accessing written course PDF resources is a maze of navigation- and I have to do it each time. Can I not have a quick link to a resource on the homepage so that I can quickly catch up where I left off?
On S111 21J. Downloading topic sections doesn't seem to download everything, because opening the module itself, not even a specific section in the topic, immediately starts eating my data. I don't have unlimited data and it defeats a large part of its purpose if I can only use the app on WiFi. Would also like an option to download only text, text and audio, and text video and audio.
I actually like it. Sure, there are things that need improvement, but that happens with any new app. Only one of my modules is available but everything is a click away from the mobile site. *Update* Sadly, the app has become unstable and is now not fit for purpose. Back to the module website until it's fixed.
Many features require exiting the app an browsing the website, making the usefulness of this app quite limited if not zero, especially if the goal is study offline. I stopped going back and forth between app and chrome and just use the site. Pity since the app in itself would be really an added value.
Seems to be working ok for me. Open University you may have yourself an actual working app, albeit in my last of 6 years. it would seem however that it's 50/50 whether the materials are there. Great stuff being able to sync and work offline.
I've been using this since my module started in October but it now just goes straight to the website and constantly loops to the log in page so I can't actually access my planner or anything. Have uninstalled and reinstalls but still does the same thing.
Was working perfectly until recently. It was super handy to have all my resources in an app, however, it now constantly takes me to the website to sign in and then it just refreshes and won't go off the sign in site. So can't be used 😭 I hope it gets fixed soon!
Great functionality to study on the go 👍🏼 Had initial issues trying to log in after the upgrade. Reinstalled and still didn't let me in. Must have been an issue with saved/cached password on my device, manually input my password and all working now 👍🏼
Hey! Same as person below. Site has a glitch where the login overlay keeps showing so you can't access the content. I tried installing and reinstalling too. Hope it gets fixed soon! :)
Great app with all the features that I use on the desktop version. Would be good if it notifies you when an assignment score is submitted (only installed last week so I'll soon know if it does).
It takes up so much space which slows it right down. It would be extremely useful if the app had the option of saving downloads to the sd card, this would solve this problem as at the moment you can only download onto the device.
Unusable garbage. Leaves you stuck in a login loop unless you time hitting login immediately after auto-filling your credentials, and even if you work around that, it can't load plug-ins for any of my modules. Don't bother.
OU App is absolutely brilliant cant fault it!! The only thing is, you have to sign in with your username and password to check your module tutorial dates, and other things. Once you sign in, it's very easy to study your module materials. Just needs patience that's all.
Very happy with this app, I can switch to my phone when I'm unable to use my laptop. Sometimes things can be a tad glitchy but nothing huge, in those cases I just switch to browser.
Disappointed as so many people say how great the app is but for me, most of the pages won't load, I keep getting redirected to the website via Chrome. I have a OnePlus, apparently the app works better with iPhone or Samsung :-/
The app needs a lot of fixing. Took me many attempts until it let me log in. Once you log in its the same as if i was on the website and not the app (user interface needs to change).
Not really sure how to rate this app. It worked fine until now that I'm on holiday in Europe... now it constantly asks me to log in, and even when I do, loops back to the login page... Very disappointing given I downloaded it for "on the move"... cannot use it at all. ***edit: somehow i fixed this issue in December but it started playing up again this week. I noticed that the login would auto fill (authenticator), and loop, so I manually reentered my username and password; the app works again.
