OurHome – Chores and Rewards

This is a great app, we've been using it on/off for years. It works great for keeping my kids motivated to do their chores & behave appropriately. Very user-friendly interface. However, recently we have been having big problems getting the app to consistently save things or even work at all, getting an error saying it can't connect to the internet. We are on our Wi-Fi and everything else is working on it just fine.

Really disappointed. Our household has been using this app for about a year now to keep up on household management. We loved all the features, worked great until it didn't, it recently kicked everyone out of the app and just gives an error of no Internet connection, it'll occasionally let me in but won't show any of our settings. Would love to keep using this, I haven't found another app that fits our needs as well.

The app keeps giving me an error saying "Could not connect to Internet. Changes will not be saved. Tried clear cache , rebooting phone, switch wireless connection and mobile data on and off, install the app again, no luck. Shame! The app is very promising, looked really good with a clean interface, including the features I was looking: a way to add/edit chores, have different to do lists, a calendar view and a points system to see who is actually doing the chores...

Great app, when it works! There was a syncing issue between devices. Seems fixed. It's frustrating you can't change the day/date you w/o whiping the frequency. I'm unable to set/change the frequency as "task will always be in the to-do list" sits where a # should be. There's a way to force it to pop up; I set it i.e. every 3rd Friday & save. Start date is magically changed from May 6th to June 3rd. Whaaaaaa?

This is the best chore app I've used so far! Sadly, now when I go to log into the app it says "no internet connection. Changes won't be saved". So when I try to log in, the app won't let me log in even if my internet connection is strong or if my password is correct. Also, it seems like it hasn't had and update in years and lots of other people have had the same problem. Please fix it!

This app has been wonderful, but will no longer allow me to log in as it always says "can not connect to internet" (even as I am posting this). It is easy to set chores up on a repeating schedule and assign them to people in a rotating manner, or assign to an individual every time. Haven't found much use for the rewards but I can see how that would be good in a house with children. Will update review to 5⭐ if the internet connection glitch is fixed.

Can't use it, as soon as I open the app it shows the message "Could not connect to internet. Changes will not be saved." Somehow I managed to advance to the creation of a family name, password and email, but that message kept popping up. I got the confirmation mail for the account creation, but I can't go beyond the initial page of introducing email and password because, again, the message appears and I get stucked in the "loading circle".

It was working out really well, but all the sudden it stopped working with a message that it "could not connect to the internet" on both of our phones (while every other app continues to work just fine). Tried uninstalling/reinstalling and still nothing. If we can't get back in we will have lost all the reward points and history. 😔

This is the best 100% free chores app. Other paid apps though, are better. Unlike others, there is no "dirty/clean" meter here, it's all time-based. It's very customizable though, and the points/rewards option is great for those with kids. The suggested chores aren't great. They're very repetitive so it's easy to accidentally add like 3 of the same thing.

When this app worked I appreciated the customization, the preexisting chores list, and the overall ease of use. As a tool for motivating children to complete more tasks, and incentivizing the completion with a potential reward was a good idea. However, for whatever reason the app has been giving me the "unable to connect to internet" error for a few days now. This error persists for not only myself, but my family as well, and I am even unable to connect to the app via the website. Not sure if this is a bug, or the website has just been down?

When we 1st installed the app was working beautifully and it was a great system for me and my kids. Unfortunately it has quit working on myself and my daughters phones, it won't connect to the internet or load anything even though I have a stable wifi connection, I have even tried it off the wifi on my mobile data and it won't connect regardless. My kids were so excited and doing so well on the system but if I can't even log on to give them the points the app is useless.

The app is giving the error "cannot connect to the internet" and will not load anything making the app unusable. This is occurring on every device, on both wifi, lan and mobile data. I have even reinstalled the app several times and it still doesn't work. Honestly at a loss of what to do at this point.

It's almost exactly what we are looking for, but there are a few features missing that we'd happily pay for: 1. Ability to set end date (or end after XX number of occurrences) for repeating tasks. 2. Agenda view. I need to be able to scroll through my week at a glance. Right now I have to go back and forth to the calendar and click through to each day separately. 3. Ability to set "Today" as default view. 4. Multi day events (not repeating) 5. Google calendar integration.

Cutting this down to 1 star. Really need a widget that allows task completion. With ADHD, I never remember to open the app and see what's due once a notification has passed. This app's scheduling options is FAR superior to other apps but without a widget, it's almost useless for me. But it's been 2 yrs since an update and 4 yrs since they said a widget was coming in the near future. Even notification acknowledgement would be a vast improvement

Brilliant idea. I'm about to implement this is to our family routine. One idea however. Would there be a possibility to add a widget function so there is a HUD as such, to see what is left to on a main screen instead of entering the app. If it is left in plain sight, there is more of a chance of tasks to be completed. Otherwise, I'm a fan.

Great app with lots of useful features. Although, would really love the "grocery" tab to be swapped with a "shopping" tab which would include, besides groceries, cleaning products, consumables & other miscellaneous stuff. Everyone needs something on top of groceries during their weekly shopping.

The app idea is nice. Somewhat easy and intuitive to use. It has some bugs when calculating points. If i complete a task for someone by mistake and then edit it and complete it again it puts the points twice. Maybe this is a feature, but it's confusing for me ... I don't want to spend time to check if the points were calculated correctly ... this may lead to me stop using the app.

Overall this is one of the better apps of this type I have tried features wise it does more than most. But it does have some glaring issues that make it quite frustrating and still not fixed after 2+ years. One of the biggest annoyances is that Notifications overwrite each other, meaning that they never get seen. The app also had no way to change the notification sound. As a result nudges are virtually useless, and I have to chase everyone constantly to check and complete tasks.

This is a GREAT app. This has been designed so well and so simply. It looks great and works Great. I do like to "Nudge" to get people to do their tasks. The only feedbacks that I have (and why not Five Stars) is because you can not change the notification sound to something other than the Default Notification sound. This should be in an update hopefully soon since I have seen people asking for this for a while. The only other design issue is the listings can be slightly too tall. Especially in the Grocery List. On a Phone, you really only see the top 3 or 4 Items and already have to scroll. If there was a way to adjust the font size or the list item size. A lot of white space especially when you want to glance at the list instead of keep scrolling up and down. Thank you A Web Interface would be nice, but for Free and Ad Free this is Awesome. EDIT: I just found the WebApp. Woohoo!!

It's a nice app, it sets up easily and the interface is simple and attractive and I like the idea of assigning points and being able to have groceries and to do lists and calendars all in one place. However it does not allow you to sync this calendar with existing calendars like Google which is a deal breaker for me. We use Google for a multitude of other things and a family app that requires me to re-enter data is a non-starter

I recommend this app! This is an efficient way to schedule chores needing to be done at recurring intervals so you remember when they are due, and know when they were last done. Also a good visual of how the chore load is split. You pick who is responsible for each task, the time required for the task and how many points are earned for completing a task. My favorite feature is that you can rotate/swap who does what tasks for equal exposure based on time interval. Not stuck with the same chore.

We've used the app for a long time but a recent update broke critical functionality. Edited items now stay at the top of the list permanently unless you set them to daily. You are no longer able to set things to repeat a certain number of weeks or months since last done on a particular day. Every four weeks on a Saturday is *not* the same thing as monthly. Having a every four week chore permanently at the top of the list is cluttered and irritating. Please fix this.

The notification issue was fixed or worked itself out somehow. This app is great. So many options to customize tasks and rewards. Anything you want to do as far as making lists and tasks can be accomplished with this free app. Love that it will give reminders when a task is due and let you "nudge" the recipient to give an extra reminder. Highly recommend this app for any situation.

It was an awesome app at first, but it's so buggy as to make it useless. It doesn't save that tasks are done, so they just keep popping back up. I can add new tasks and they don't get saved, so I added a ton of new tasks the other day only for the app to freeze and lose them all. It freezes on loading *all* the time. Given that the last update to this app was in 2018, obviously the devs gave up on it. I think I'll do the same.

Man, I love this app. I've used it for YEARS. I stick with it because of the "after last done" task repeat option. Many great things about this app. However, it feels abandoned. Over the years I've watched many people make suggestions for features but nothing ever happens. The creator may comment "We've added your idea to our suggestion list." But no improvements are made. It would be so great to see a new exciting feature added once in a while. That being said, I still feel it's a great app.

This is a complete task management system for families and I'm very impressed. It captures the ability to instill many of the intricacies of the behvaior we want to encourage. My one suggestion at this point would be to enable some of the recurrence options with rewards that are available with tasks. For example, there should be an option to make some rewards available daily without me having to re-enter them each day. Or always-available rewards. Great job, keep up the good work!
