More than 130,000 summer and winter routes that have been equipped primarily with editorial descriptions, topographic maps, elevation profiles, tour data, pictures and GPX tracks are all accessible by mobile device and can be rated, commented on and backed by images directly via the app.
Maps: Outdooractive provides you with topographic maps for the entire German-speaking region, inclusive of cycle and hiking trails. Outstanding OSM maps as well as maps in winter style are made available to you worldwide.
Route planner: Plan your tours in great detail on summer and winter maps throughout Europe and particularly in Germany with cycle, hiking trail and gradient overlays as well as the automatic display of elevation, kilometers and elevation profile.
Current conditions: You can easily enter current conditions on-site via the Outdooractive app. Either you determine the position on our map or you simply enter the current condition directly for a tour or a hut – including images, weather, hazard information and description.
Community: You can edit your online profile via the app, upload a profile picture, add favorite activities or create an outdooractive.com account if you do not have one yet (in the future the synchronization of online profile and app is being extended).
Track log: Record your tracks and obtain important data, such as kilometers, average speed, elevation, time elapsed and elevation profile. Import a GPX track and use it as a template or export your logged tour as a GPX file.
Tour scanner: You will find a QR code for each tour in our outdooractive.com portal. After scanning it you will be directed to the mobile version of the tour.

Nice functionalities, but the menu and organization of all the functions is terrible. I find it close to impossible to intuitively find what I need. It's also very unclear where offline maps are and how to use them. I've found myself out of network reach using a map that wasn't the offline version and struggling insanely to find the offline version within the app.
Strong selection of trails and hikes. With a good internet connection it works great. Some difficulty with scrolling and zooming the map. It resets at unpredictable times. Unfortunately for mountain hikes where a reliable map is crucial and internet connectivity spotty the app is useless. I manage by exporting the trail and use another app to guide me along the route.
Good overall but super frustrating that you cannot either save or cache the map. Once outside any network, which is the case for most mountain hike, you will lose the map. Map caching shall not be complicated though, Google Map or others do that automatically...
I really enjoy the functionality of this app. Exports gpx files exactly how I want them. Honestly I think the bad reviews on here are more a lack of understanding on the user rather than the app having issues.

Unfortunately you can't even filter the results, eg distance or difficulty of shown tours on the map. Imo these are basic features :(
No garmin tcx download and no offline maps in the free version, but otherwise great app!
It's all in german, no way to change it!

Not being able to change language is blocking me from using this app. I do not understand German but I'm forced, by some automatic language choice based on the phone or store language, to use the German version of the app. Their customer support was kind to explain that the only way to change the language of the app is to change the language of my phone. Sincerely, I do not intend to change my phone settings just for this app.
A strength of this app is the huge community behind it. You can select thousands of routes from the collection but unfortunately you cannot store a route offline.
Just made a mistake of checking a few routes using my mobile data instead of wifi... 4 routes viewed = 200 MB!!! This is outrageous! The app itselft is nice, although having to go premium for the offline saving of the routes is annoying. Well, done with this app.

Excellent app. Unfortunately not for the USA. Maps and info are for Europe mostly. But if you live there this app rocks. Wish we had something like this for the USA

Huge steps backwards in comparison with old version. Much less intuitiv and buggy. Missing choice of listing option for example. Very disappointing.
