Long time backpacker subscriber that got acquired by the outside company. Love the magazine and concept, but hate the app. Can view shows on the app, but then I have to go to the website to access copies of the magazines and other perks of membership. This really needs to incorporate the digital magazines and gear guides into the app.
My magazines never showed up and the emails they send are all advertisements asking me to buy things. I asked for my $100 back but instead of a refund they insisted that I would eventually enjoy their subscription... that was two months ago and I would like a refund. I did receive the magazines a few weeks late!
No Chromecast support for Outside+ content. Cumbersome and hard to use interface. Even the firar step to sign in with an existing account is unintuitive.
Subscribed to Outside+ on the website, downloaded this app to go with it, but it doesn't want to recognize my subscription and many of the buttons (like sending a query in for support) don't even work.
Poor UX. Needs a watch list that I can add videos to for watching later. Better controls of video. Ability to rate content. Great content though
Works ok, but definitely has some jank. Doesn't remember where you are in a series or in a given video. Doesn't consistently stay signed in. I have to make notes about where I am.
Not really impressed with this. Once a video is started, it can't be controlled. You either wait for it to finish or you shut the app down and open it back up. Navigation in the app is also puzzlingly bad. Content is good but it skews toward a handful of areas. If you're looking for climbing, you can probably burn through everything within the free trial period. It's amazing that a magazine as good as Outside is would have such rickety apps.
The content is amazing. The app is really not that great. Limited control of video once started. Seems like 25% of videos that are listed won't actually load when you select them. No response from app developer when I reported this issue. I continue to use because of the great programs but app could use some major upgrades.
Good content, bad service. I've tried premium app on Android and premium on Roku (you have to pick one or pay for each and every device you want to watch it on - no cross-platform access). Besides that big downside, the apps are a horribly disorganized and jumbled mess. Again, too bad, there some good content there, but all the downsides don't make it worth paying for. Hoping someone competes with them soon.
This app keeps saying some error occurred and won't open. I'm using an S21. Just paid for Outside+ so I could watch their content and now I can't because the app won't open. Hope this gets fixed soon.
Would like to see captions available more. Would also like to see better Chromecast integration.
The best content with the absolute worst app out there. I got the paid version , This has to be the absolute worst app out there , with the best contents ever, the piss poor app is nothing close to the satellite TV version of outside TV , live option doesn't work. cast option doesn't work most of the time ,when it does decides to work , there is no back or forward option , no phone support- I Don't recommend. will cancel my subscription.
App won't work on my phone, I guess it's for Apple only. Now I paid for a worthless membership just to use this app and can't use it.
Probably the worst streaming app I have ever used. From top to bottom, this app is a disaster. Please hire a serious developer to redo this app so it's usable
Works on my iPhone and Roku, but crashes after login on the 3 different Androids I’ve tried. No Chromecast support (for iOS at least) and the audio becomes out of sync when watching on Roku. Needs work.
Trash app and subscription. Loved the magazines digital content is very buggy.
Good content but needs work. Won't resume playing video if you pause it, no way that I've found to save a video that you'd like to watch/continue watching
While I enjoy the content, i am disappointed that my paid subscription does not work on my Roku TV at home. I cannot watch premium content unless I play from my phone and stream through Google Chromecast.
Terrible, clunky interface. Pictures are way too big. if I'm going to browse, I'd like to browse more than one show at a time. Horrible app
I cant seem to figure out how to get this channel on my smart tv. Surely people would prefer to watch Outside's content on the biggest screen possible? I'm hesitant to subscribe if I'll be limited to watching on my phone!
All around great TV filled with great adventures outside. It has inspired me to get out there and enjoy this life.
So far absolutely love it! So many different adventures you can watch.
The best channel of all channels period!!!!!!!!
Doesn't work on my phone. I deleted and reinstalled, yet same thing.
love this content!
It's all good
Yes the Russians live her.
It was cool
Awesome videos and pretty easy to use. Majority of the videos are free and constantly adding new ones. Will be giving the premium section a try.
UX is really wonky. No obvious way to have playback controls during content playback. After signing up for Outside+ had to do some hoop jumping to figure out how to access/unlock content. The content itself is great and high quality. The portal to that content: the app, is sub par and below modern app standards. Not asking for anything fancy: just clean log in, navigation, see what's playing, pause, rewind, all in a UX obvious way.
