Outvote

Outvote is an app that helps Democrats and progressives remind their friends to vote. A single text message to a friend makes them 10% more likely to vote! In a world filled with clickbait, fake news, and Russian bots, that's what friends are for.

The top of the app gets hidden behind my phone's top status bar, and that is where the only back button in the app is located. If you use your system back button, it exits the app entirely. Clearly a shoddy iOS port. Also, when trying to correct a bad match it doesn't sort your search results in any meaningful way (sort by city maybe?), making a huge list to scroll through. And if there is no match at all, selecting that there's no match will leave the person with initial wrong match. In the end, this seems like a good way to introduce unwelcome drama into your personal life. Neat data, but I won't message anyone.

Once I got the App. downloaded and in it all went smoothly. Easy to use and easy to report and reply. Hard part was the initial set up.

I cannot get the app to sign me in, it'll bring up a web browser to verify my email instead of associating the app.

Great app for anyone who wants to make an impact in upcoming elections! Shows you which of your contacts actually vote! Messages are easy to customize. You can't blast your entire contacts list at once (apparently that is against the law...) but this is the next best thing!

I understand and appreciate that this app could help one to organize friends to a common cause. But...it boils down to the app team collecting your information and your contacts information and requiring you to give the app rather full and complete access to your phone files and data. Furthermore, there does not appear to be any way to remove your account from the app. You can logout and you can delete the app but that's it. This app is inappropriate and a violation of privacy and unfair practices. Google should require the developers to make changes to this app.

Was sort of coerced into downloading the app. Got a phone call, the person on the other end made an account for me using my email address. I downloaded the app-- there is no way to change your password or delete your account. Everything looks very generic. I'm concerned that this is just a means of collecting your information.

Pretty slick app. If you are interested in having political conversations with people in your contacts, and want to help make sure everyone votes regularly, it's a handy way to do it. Seems to only use publicly available voting records, and it's interesting to see the political leanings of the people with whom you're in touch. Don't be surprised if you find mostly Democrat or Republicans in your contacts. Consider reaching out to folks not aligned with your point of view. *everyone* should vote.

I installed this briefly, then realizing that it's a complete invasion of my friends privacy, removed it. The company sent me several texts encouraging me to use the app. I let them know that this was unwelcome, and they informed me that they have deleted my contact info, which is an acceptable resolution so long as it doesn't reoccur. I understand and sympathize with what they are trying to do, but still find their methods obtrusive.

A great idea and easy-to-use but it lost one star when it stopped working entirely. I deleted it and downloaded the new one and it started working again just in time.

Terrible!! It freezes all the time and when you log out and back in again it tells you your password is wrong even when YOU HAVE IT CORRECT. Have uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times now!

I had to delete this app because it is too small to read. I'm legally blind so I have my phones font set up as large but this app didn't magnify. I would love to use the app but I just cant see it. I don't know if this is something you can fix but if so I'd be happy to download it again

I put in all my info and got the link to complete registration, but it doesn't let me log in despite multiple attempts.

Great App works very well to help communicate and get the vote out.Does show voter information but All states allow some form of access to voter registration records for political parties and candidates for elected offices. So it's keeps you informed on candidates etc all year long isn't a party app any party can use

I heard about this on the news and tried it out to see if it was real. I cannot believe that someone thought this was a good idea. It is a total invasion of privacy and can be used to harass and intimidate people. Look, I don't like Trump either - but this app should not exist. If a friend sent me text telling me they dug up my party affiliation and my voting history and begged me to vote a certain way they wouldn't be my friend much longer.

Using this app for a campaign and whenever I try to access my "Unread" list the app keeps crashing.

When Republicans figure out how to do this and actually do it better, these types of apps will finally become an issue. Total invasion of privacy and perversion of morals. This app is essentially Russia 2.0.

The app serves it's purpose! It does what it advertises but it could still use a few tweaks here and there.

I have no problem with this app amazing I use this for my volunteer campaign and it is good.

Total trash app. Kept freezing on me. Uninstalled this immediately.

Junk. Help person was the opposite of helpful. Look elsewhere.

A. G. u. Oct 19, 2018

I love how easy it is to use! It's feels good to get involved in my own small way with those nearest and dearest to me.

A. G. u. Mar 6, 2020

I'm reluctantly downloading this now after seeing it wants access to my contacts = an invasion of privacy & I'll deny. If I find this to be the case, since I only want to track today's SCOTUS ruling, I'll be deleting. If I find the app is legit I'll keep. However, I'm not interested in seeing what Party ppl around me affiliate themselves with nor do I want them knowing mine. That, in and of itself, is a HUGE invasion of privacy especially given I was raised not to tell who we vote for.

A. G. u. Nov 5, 2018

It did not work for me. The screen stayed frozen.

A. G. u. Nov 6, 2018

This is so wrong. Shame on you, shame and everyone who thought this was a good idea. Public record should not mean throw peoples choice of exercising their civic duty or not in their face! Disgraceful.

Keeps shutting down on checking unread messages

An informed and easy way to remind friends and family to vote!

A. G. u. Nov 6, 2018

Kept giving me a network error and wouldn't open. Why do they need my phone number?

Abolish Electoral College To say that the Electoral College is a corrupt anti American unconstitutional system for electing the President of the United States of America is way far more than a gross understatement. For it has an inception among other peculiar subjunctive institutions a basis upon the immoral bonds of slavery. No other official election anywhere employs such a scandalous unpatriotic procedure. We are misled into falsely believing we are voting for candidates directly while indirectly it is concealed that we are in fact voting for some obscure ambiguous invisible delicates. The ballot itself is rigged to mislead. confuse and cover-up for it is fabricated and made-up to appear as if we are voting for candidates when in reality we are duped into thinking we are voting for presidential candidates. It is thus concealed from us that we are being blinded to the fact that our right to vote is being miss appropriately confiscated, pilfered, and embezzled. This last election was a phenomenally quintessential example of what happened when we allow this undemocratic Electoral College to exist. For even though the highly intelligent competent candidate who received a majority of well over three million more votes than her opponent, we are forcibly manipulated into accepting this mentally ill, anti American, narcissistic, greedy, white supremacist, racist, terrorist, criminal who does not lead us but instead misleads with his lies and disparaging innuendos. We want our legal constitutional right to vote back. We want our votes to count so we can feasibly maintain the truth and justice our democracy was founded on only to be torn away from us by this so called Electoral College's malevolent malicious, invocation trumped up way back in 1804, well over two centuries ago. When originally devised, our Constitution was fashioned after the democracies of the ancient Greeks, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Quakers none of whom had any similar contrivance in their relevant governing administrations. We must immediately take action now right away and sue the US government and take this far more than irrelevant, extraneous invocation to the Supreme Court to have this hideous, flagrant nonsensical, unjustifiably shameful insult to our intelligence that shrouds and barricades our rights to freely vote, infinitively completely and irrevocably eliminated. Let Freedom Ring! It may very well have been the intention of these representatives of that time in history to disguise and camouflage the utilization of this artificial so called Electoral College body to justify the manipulation of the residents of smaller states from being overwhelmed by the more populous giving the smallest more weight. We question whether that is even democracy at all. Let alone the fact that that was over 200 years ago. How relevant could that possibly be today after over two centuries given how encompassing transportation and the media have become since. The purpose that we give more credence to is that the formation of this so called Electoral College fiasco was to bribe the slave states into accepting the constitution not for democratic reasonings but economic motivations. Another excuse given by that government entity for its fabrication was to facilitate the prevention of tyranny. Instead in actuality it has effectuated quite the opposite enhancing the advancement tyranny. If it weren’t for this Electoral College we would not have this tyrant illegally occupying our presidential office. It caused the minority to win circumventualy. Any proposal for remedying the situation may appear to lean toward a slightly more favorable position would lack adequacy and completion. We also take exception to the term ‘popular’ vote. In this context the term lacks a certain vindictiveness and gives it an air of a lack of respect as if voting were a game of entertainment. Be assured that we have contacted our Senators Schumer and Gellibrand. With reservation we reluctantly contacted Katco. Most assuredly we certainly have contacted candidate Ms. Dana
