OverDrive

Absolutely wonderful. I enjoy listening to so many interesting audiobooks. I also love reading. A very convenient way of checking books and audiobooks out virtually. They automatically get checked back in after a certain period of time. Ingenious. Thank you for inventing such a great application.

This app opens all the different formats that the library books come in and the fonts are adjustable. The lighting is also adjustable so that the background can be dimmed in the evening. It has a variety of fonts. I have tried the Libby app that the public library wants the patrons to use and it does not have flexibility that OverDrive has.

Way better app for the BOOK PAGES, how they look and feel and navigating the page options, than other reading apps. Would give higher rating but often a delay or hard to get to my Titles. They're not loading to my bookshelf properly. I can't always see my book list. Or I see my books, but don't see where's the option to Download in Browser or Download on App. Have to go back and forth a bit for initial setup. Then it's fine.

I'm so happy I can still download this "legacy" app! I have tried Libby and I really don't like it nearly as well as its antecedent OverDrive. OverDrive has more options for user configuration and that's very important to me. As long as it's possible to use it to download books from my library and from Gutenberg and other archives, I will continue to use OverDrive!

I really like this app, easy to use. Features that would make it perfect would be 1. Filter out books already borrowed. 2. Option to notify of new books from fav author added. 3. Option to notify of new book to a series added. 4. Option to request audio books ie books missing from series. Despite these really enjoying listening to the huge range of audio books.

Great app, it's helped me get back into my love of books. I only wish the settings allowed customization of the 15 seconds skip back or forward, cuz if I missed a word, I only want to go back a few seconds. But I get around that by pausing and hitting play, and it goes back just a little, so I still give it 5 stars.

Apparently, you can only jump between the chapters with this app, or jump forward or back in 15 second increments! So, if u get distracted or you want to hear a portion again, you might have to go back more than an hour, & wait to get back to where you were, or click on the 15-second button a zillion times! I hope I can find the next book on YouTube!

OverDrive is a good app that I use to borrow library books. The only problen I have with it is that it sometimes does not sync - so once in a while when I stop reading on one device and start reading the same book on another device, it did not sync. Also I would like to see more choices in the color scheme besides day, night, and sepia.

Not sure why this happens, but it's seriously frustrating and only overdrive! After pausing with wireless earbuds, starting it back up is sometimes impossible. If it does, I have to wait five minutes or so for it to register. Often I have to dig out my tablet and unlock it to get it to start. Oddly the story often starts before I bring up the app! Again-only overdrive! Sometimes the app shuts down for whatever reason besides! It's insanely frustrating!! 5 stars otherwise! Please fix this!

What a great app!! I've been using Overdrive for years ( ever since my local library told me about it ). It doesn't have everything but it has quite a lot and if there is something your looking for that they don't have you can suggest they get it 😉. I gave it 4 ⭐ because the search features could be better and I wish they had a bit bigger selection but overall very good app 👍🏼.

Overdrive is great for reading and listening to library books. Fairly quick downloads without wifi, great features such as playback speed, dictionary and place keeping. Also allows easy book recommendations. Unfortunately I hear it is being phased out for Libby, a very substandard product that could have only been developed by a first grader. Libby is poor quality, does not allow books to download efficiently without wifi, and does not allow for easy recommendations.

Overall a good app. My only complaint is that you have to go into the "add book" screen to know if you have any notifications when your holds are ready. It also notifies you via email, but I don't check my email every day. I would recommend either having a notification icon on the main screen, or having an option allowing for push notifications.

I appreciate being able to read books digitally. Ive used it for short of 7 yrs soon. There's changes I find hard to figure out so navigation from one thing to another proves challenging for me. Offering a HELP button is giid but getting an answer back so I might "learn" to navigate has not been successful. NO COMPLAINT. For the 2 stated reasons I hesitate to acquaint myself with Libby. I do remember when this app was user friendly. STILL a most wonderful app and Im so glad I get to enJOY it.

Love this. Recommend it! If you have long drives, a small budget, and a library card then you have all you need. Listening to books on a road trip is extraordinary! All the time I could not find to read them, is now made up for in my drive time. Now I look forward to my long or short commutes! And I am not paying a small fortune to have it! Just the price of a library card!

I' m 73. Reading is my favorite de stressor. When my daughter introduced me to this app, I tried it with some reservations because I felt it would not be as enjoyable as reading from a bookbound copy. I continued reading even when moving around which did not stop my momentum. I was able to go back and forth to a page convenienly when I needed to. Now, borrowing another book and returning when done only takes a minute. cool!

It's been very glitchy. Stops playing when the screen turns off. Stops playing if there is any electronic interference anywhere in the house such as heat or ac turning on or microwave. Didn't used to have this problem. I have to go in. Shut down every app and reopen it to get it to keep playing, then some little thing happens and it stops again.

It's great that it's free but the search functions, responsiveness, and the catalog in connection to the regular KCLS is barely there. Most of the time I have check out my item in the regular KCLS website to force OverDrive to see it in my account and then I can download it there. It's just all halfway done, slow and awkward but it gets you there eventually, if you work around the issues.

Good audio. However, It'd be nice if we could see the full length of each audiobook before borrowing it. Also, I don't understand why you suggest authors or titles in the search bar only to tell us that those searches are unavailable. Its quite disappointing. Lastly, and this may or may not just be the bluetooth earbuds, but when I pause my current book, then resume it while another audiobook downloads, it will play the new one instead. I don't like that.

Great app, but inconsistent. I use this app to play audiobooks downloaded from my library, which is amazing. However, the app randomly closes. I can put on the sleep timer before bed, and the player will still be at the top of my screen, ready to continue in the morning. Other times, I'll pause it for 5 minutes, and when I come back the player's gone. If a video add pops up in a game, or on Facebook, the player might pause, or it'll disappear entirely. It's inconsequential, yet frustrating.

To be honest, I didn't expect much from this app when I downloaded it. I just knew I had to if I wanted to access my library's digital content... but, I've been pleasantly surprised. I understand there's the newer app, Libby, which admittedly is flashier and sharper looking, but OverDrive is better. It might be no frills in terms of presentation and visuals, but it's easy to use, intuitive and has access to all the tools and information I want. It's a solid library resource.

Overall, I love this app. It's easy and reasonably intuitive to borrow ebooks and audiobooks from my library. One thing keeps it from a 5-star rating, though - the second my phone connects to a bluetooth speaker (like the headset that I always have around my neck), it automatically starts playing whatever audiobook I am currently listening to. The problem is if I don't have the earbuds in my ears, I don't know it's playing, so the book can run for hours without me listening and then I have to go figure out where I left off, which is infuriating. And my phone and headset battery are sucked down to nothing.

The app works great. It allows for fast forward, rewind, pause and you can search by chapter. The one problem is there's no "stop" button for audio books. When I am driving and pause my book, it only pauses for a few seconds then it comes back on. Sometimes I want to stop the book and focus on listening to navigation via Bluetooth, but the book keeps interrupting.
