I just updated the app for the first time since February. New GUI is a little weird, and the option to search by city appears to have been completely removed. The app itself is totally useless now as well because literally EVERY Walmart listed is marked as "no overnight parking allowed", even if they do specifically allow it. I scrolled through the whole lists for a dozen states and 100% of the results were marked as "not allowed". No point having the app if it marks all Walmarts as not allowed.
We use this app a lot but still go inside to obtain permission. We have notified the apt if we have found changes and have rated stops. Our opinion hasn't changed. I do not like the white on yellow for the lists of states and cities in the revised edition. Also would prefer all the cities were in abc order not split in sections. Can you list someplace the notations for Rest Areas?
App insists on access to files, photos, etc. & will not function on my phone without those permissions. Im fairly certain I used it last year & didn't have this issue (almost no apps get those permissions on my phone--limiting, yes, but safer). Such permissions might be understandable for a planning/journaling feature, but I otherwise see no reason for it to keep the app from accessing its database. Uninstalled.
--NOW FIXED!!--This app used to be somewhat useful for Walmart parking, not always 100% accurate, but now it shows No Parking at ALL walmarts, even known friendly stores with designated truck parking. I'm not uninstalling yet in hope that it will be fixed. --EDIT-- Just checked and the app has been fixed! It now shows parking available at most stores again. I hope it's fairly accurate but I know that often depends on the manager on duty and especially on how well the driver picks an area to park
Lists options in an area; but dont know how old the info is - especially disconcerting with Walmart's. One listed truck stop had many signs warning of being towed. The map comes up with something entirely different, but with the address listed one can enter on maps and not use the link. Look for others parked overnight.
Very helpful, right to the point. But the distance in mileage to the listed places is wayyyyy off. For instance it says "Walmart 4.2 miles" but when you hit the link to get directions in Google maps you find it is actually 40 miles.
Great free app. Very useful in planning long distance trips, locating fuel and free overnight stops. Wish the search feature could be by city and state but for free I'll spend a few minutes scrolling through the cities of selected state.
definitely the app to have when travelling long distances. lots of options and the ones with reviews have been exactly what is said in description. used to travel from Canada to Florida without any complaints or problems. thank you
Using this app helps me plan my routes and distances traveled, knowing I will have some options for an overnighter at my final destination after a day's journey. It would be awesome if Lowe's Home Improvement stores were an option. We went to a Walmart but they were super crowded but a Lowe's was next door. Received permission from Lowe's to park for the night.
PLEASE PLEASE 🙏 change the colors! greenish yellow and white is very hard to see "on the fly"!!!! needs to be high contrast or day/night color schemes... better than that some way to choose colors. Keep up the good work!!
Coule be great. No real information provided just GPS coordinates. No key for abbrevations and information provided does not have links to explore further. VERY basic. I feel like I'm looking at an app from 10 years ago.....
Useful app, but *seriously* bad graphics - bad color cominations, warped icons, etc. No adjustments, help, (dev) contacts, "back", "undo". Portrait mode only. Would be willing to pay a little ($.99) to make the full-screen ads stop.
great sight. very easy to use and always up to date. great for travels of all kinds. Use Google Earth to scope it out for best entry and area to park so you can navigate easier if you have a big rig
used this a lot following the Mississippi road and along the Gulf. was super helpful. only glitch was updates for new or closed places. not always accurate. will keep using it as I go up the Appalachian trail roads.
I took a trip around the United States in 2017. There were times I needed to stop and sleep for a while and I didn't want to pay for a motel. The Overnight Parking app helped me find places to park as well as places to avoid. Great app in my opinion. I have used it on shorter trips since.
New look is somewhat confusing and hard to use. Not near as easy to understand as the old app. Updated app should use same format with added enhancement and not have to learn all over again.
I only checked for Colorado. The app lists many Walmarts in the state with most saying parking available. This needs updating badly. There are very few Walmarts in the Denver area and outlying towns that allow overnight parking. There are signs everywhere and security guards who will tell you to leave. CO is not an RV friendly state.
Amazing app with a large lacuna. Canadian sites can only be seem once you are in the town!!! Extremely aggravating. Please add Canadian provinces and territories to the drop-down. Thanks!
I'm new to this app but, so far, it's NOT reliable. I've found places listed where it says I can stay but the place said I can't, and vice-versa. Also, I haven't figured out how to locate a place near the town in heading for. The app only searches destinations by State (am I doing it wrong?) When I look for a place by State, I can't tell how far from my destination a rest stop may be because EVERY rest place within the State is listed.
