Override DNS (a DNS changer)

Just to be clear: NEEDS ROOT.First of all some considerations before going on:  •  the app needs a rooted device  •  the app is now working with Marshmallow (if it fails, try the latest *BETA
* of SuperSU!)  •  support of DNS on non standard ports is in testing (after you buy the app, you can become a beta tester)  •  if you find something which seems broken, please contact us ([email protected]) before posting a negative feedback. We can fix things, really we do!The app is a DNS changer for mobile and Wi-Fi networks which works from Android version 4.3 (Jelly Bean). The app was born to change DNS on KitKat, but it has been ported to Lollipop and Marshmallow. From version 1.3.0 it has been backported to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean MR2, too. With this software you can  •  Bypass internet censorship when based upon DNS blocking.  •  Overcome an Android limitation: there's no system setting to change mobile DNS.  •  Speed up internet connection. You can find many articles on the web which show various benchmarks of Domain Name Servers performances and how they affect your navigation (your mileage may vary).  •  Keep in sync mobile and Wi-Fi DNS in fact from v1.2.0 the app can handle Wi-Fi connections, too.Features  •  Automatic DNS change when a mobile connection gets activated (can be disabled).  •  Automatic DNS change when a Wi-Fi connection gets activated (can be disabled).  •  Automatic DNS change when an ethernet connection gets activated (can be disabled).  •  Wi-Fi filter based on SSID, so you can automatically apply DNS only to certain connections (can be disabled).  •  Custom DNS values.  •  Almost zero memory and CPU usage, because it's not a service.  •  Notifications let you know that the app is working (can be disabled).  •  Automatic DNS flush without need to restart the device.  •  DashClock integration, to keep an eye on the DNS in use.  •  It comes prepacked with the most common DNS services.  •  Simple and clean interface (Holo for KitKat, Material for Lollipop+)  •  Ad free.  •  Works on Marshmallow, Lollipop, KitKat and Jelly Bean.Known issues  •  does not fully support multiple active connections (i.e. tethering or Wi-Fi AP): you can exclude one network device from the advanced settings  •  horizontal layout is still awful. Some references  •  http://blog.mx17.net/tag/overridedns/  •  inspired by setDNS

I've tried many but this one seems to work the best.. The only thing I don't like is that it reconnects itself sometimea...don't know why it can't just stay connected and only reconnect if I do it manually.. but I guess that's normal. Other than that I'm satisfied with this app and I believe it deserves 5 stars because it really seems to work well. I like it..

IF your phone is rooted, this is the app to use to change DNS. If your phone is NOT rooted, go root it right away os you don't have to switch dns changer off because of a vpn or something.

i have been using this app for a very long long time, i hope i can continue using this app forever but unluckily it's quite hard nowadays that rooted phones have been in some way look like not having a better fortune in the more advanced Android system. i hope i don't have to reconsider using this app in near future.

Doesn't work on Android 9.0, returns error message "patchSELinuxSeTools failed". It is granted root access. Magisk 18.

I really like the simplicity of this app yet it complex enough to configure my DNS settings on the fly.

I literally wanted a refund since i didn't see any changes at all. I asked a refund from google and they literally denied me this refund. The same day i bought it was the same day i tried to refund it. RIP 2 euros gone

Had some trouble on my Note 9, but cleared it by installing BusyBox. Way cool, nice to have a little control.

Zero frills, works as described. Setools patching doesn't work on Magisk Canary, but DNS changing works even without patching Selinux

Edit : working just fine, operator error, had private dns set on my phone, which reverted to Google Everytime.

Working flawlessly after the update.. Pixel 2

This is a great app which I've been using for quite some time. It only recently stopped working. I have sent emails to the developer without a response but hopefully he will make it compatible with my pixel 2 XL running 8.1 and the latest version of magisk 16.4.

Does not appear to work on Oreo (tested on a rooted Galaxy S9). The app reports that it updated DNS in its notification & log, but the servers are not actually changed (checked via Network Info 2 & PingTools). Also, does not seem to support IPv6.

Works flawlessly on OnePlus 6. Automated dns changing when switching between wifi, sim 1, sim 2 and vice versa. User can choose preset servers or specify custom dns. For OnePlus 6, must use SElinux patching method=none to work.

Great app, just works. Made my internet absolutely fly after changing my DNS to the OpenVPN protocols. Best part is the option to allow automatic override so anytime I switch networks it switches the DNS for me

Dav. W. Apr 23, 2018

Well designed app with useful features however despite status logs reporting successful DNS switching, it doesn't work on my phone running LineageOS 14.1

Abd. A. May 9, 2018

It was a 5-star app, up until last night. I updated to the May OTA on Pixel 2 and updated Magisk to 16.4 and it's not working anymore. PLEASE fix it ASAP! Thanks.
