Great app for keeping a eye on your electrical consumption. However the charts function doesn't work in the Android app for some reason........although I see the update has now removed charts function. Also it would be great if multiple site transmitters could be added to a single account.....I have two properties where I want to monitor consumption.
Need to sort this Android build out - it's very poor no historical data available, even the images here on the play store reflect that, whereas the Apple app shows the historical data. Looks like the firm neglects Android users, may as well use the web page on my phone instead. I'll give it a single star EDIT As the developers have recently updated the functionality I only thought it would be appropriate to update this review to reflect the change, at least now you can see a historical differences, still not on par with the Apple version or the Web page interface but at least now it's okay.
Been using owl for 4 years, started ok hardware still seems okay, but now frequently goes off line, fails to record accurate data, its now a bit of a joke, software, connection to server is now really sketchy, time to find something more reliable. Shame really used it for pv, central heating and hot water. If they rolled back the changes it would still be a solid set up.
This product was pricey but quite revelutionary at launch, bought mine about 8 years ago. Was happy until they started charging subscription fees for accessing the device (most unethical because this never formed part of initial T&C). Now the product is a DINOSAUR and NO DEVELOPMENT seems to have been done in the last 6 years. There seems to be no intention to integrate this into 3rd party home automation systems or have minor functionality improvements implemented. FIND ANOTHER PRODUCT IF U CAN
App is terrible ,no updates and information it gives you is very inaccurate to say the least . Pointless using it to see how the system works . Your better off getting in the loft and checking the main box ,but who wants to do that every day . Extremely disappointed .
Constantly tells you yoir subscription has lapsed. Regularly can't connect and doesn't give you information. No trend graphs. This app is hands down one of the worst ones I have but don't appear to have a choice about switching
Have abandoned this so called "updated" version and reverted to the original. So often the screen just goes black when the app is activated, using it on a new high end Android phone. Disappointing, unreliable and therefore useless.
So glad to be shot of this app and the product. What with the unpleasant surprise of being forced to pay a subscription some time after installing the hardware and the so so software it's best you run away as far from this 'company' (one man band?) as possible. I put in a Moes (cheap 😱) which has no silly subscription and is clean and tidy. I could buy five of the Moes and still it would be more cost effective. Owl Intuition begone thou foul beast!
Poor app, old school interface, no data tools, poor graphics. Appears to have not been updated during the 7 years I've suffered. Additionally the company's support is not good, not responsive to to customers. Look for alternative
Unusable app, rarely connects with device, constantly prompts for new subscription even though the account is up to date and paid for. Zero support from 2 save energy. Go with Hive or any other outfit that don't ride horses and wear wide brim hats.
Does not show data from previous day or weeks like on the display just shows 0 and then resets each day not tallying up to give comparison After 2 years they have now decided that you must pay a subscription even though when my equipment was installed was told I would only pay for the hardware. Avoid
App fine until co. took service subscription only. At initial purchase of hardware it was stated that this would never happen. Now using other s/w to control heating. Will replace h/w at next upgrade. Shame. Good hardware and open software but meaningless contract.
So difficult just to get site to respond when trying to alter anything. Just totally fails to react . Wishing I'd gone elsewhere for my system which wasn't cheap.Never told that membership needed renewing every 2 years either. Not a happy victim.
Unable to sign in on my other mobile and tablet keeps saying user/password incorrect and no can't even reset. I'm sure the user/password is correct though. Good job I have saved on my laptop and other mobile so I can see usage details.
This app is not working!!! Nothing more than few real time values are displayed, and most likely those are wrong too!! 2kw generated at 6:00 am sound a bit weird. The solar panel provider never reply to any email, so at the moment there is no point to install this app.
The product is pricey and now i can't log in to the system to switch the heating back on. unless i subscribe and pay to use the apps, and this wasn't mentioned when we took the contract....
I have been using the app for 6+ years and its always been reliable but after changing the batteries recently I have lost the solar widget on my dashboard.
Please revert to the previous version!!! This update was terrible. Update: Thank you! Update 2: The Electricity values are not ok. Update 3: Still not ok. It is adding the production with the exporting. Update 4: Everything seems ok now.
App is very inaccurate. Tells me I'm consuming energy from the grid whilst still exporting excess energy from solar panels to our hot water system. Inaccurate with regards energy spend per day compared with actual meter from british gas.
Been useing the app on previous phone and my laptop without issues, changed my phone couple months ago installed the app, unable to log in. When finally I logged in into my account, the company/app asking for subscription.
Contacted support over a minor connection / availability issue, Richard had remotely updated firmware and resolved within 15 mins, all sorted, spot on service and product really stable and updating quickly following upgrade. Thanks!
Doesnt work on android correctly. Cant see any info on usage at all. Says its logged in, can view and amend settings, but can't view any actual usage info.
good thing: -proffesional and quick customer support - good measurements accuracy bad things: - £20 per 2 years charge (used to be free)
Tried to login but username and password not recognised and no method to reset. Needs an option to contact customer service, until then, this app is both irrelevant and totally useless.
DO NOT BUY THIS EQUIPMENTS. The readings are wrong. If you loose your password you can't create a new one. All the software is dated and don't your correctly and the help desk is the worst.
Cost £10 a year subscription and the app is terrible, no historical data or anything. Looks like it was made in an afternoon. Definitely not worth it.
Use the dashboards for some years no issue until the last few days. Tried to open the apps on a phone device and it would work. Kind help
Android version is pretty useless, can't see any benefits of having this app. I think a refund for the monitoring subscription will be requested.
Very bad. Now need subscription. App frequently hangs. No tech support. Without paying they won't allow you to do anything. Cowboys.
I have had this monitor for years, but when they started the subscription service for the dashboard i stopped using it. Recent events have meant energy prices going up so i wanted to start using it again to see where we could make some savings, i changed the batteries but could not log onto the dashboard to test it without the subscription, so i signed up. I then spent hours trying to get it to work, with no joy. So i emailed customer services for a refund of my subscription, three hours after signing up. They initially refused and i have never had such a rude reply from a customer support team, i don't see how they can run a company like this, so my advice would be to stay clear. The reply when i said i wanted a refund: "I've wasted my time and money replying to an idiot like you. You obviously cannot read either! The subscription was ALWAYS in our T&Cs, which you signed up to when registering your system. Kind regards The OWL Support Team"
