I really like this app, especially the UI and its simplicity. However, I keep having issues with photos loading, downloading photos, and whenever I try to tweet a photo, only a small selection of the photos on my device show. My WiFi is up to speed to be loading the photos in tweet and saving them, so that's not the issue. And my photos are not in the cloud. Really hope these issues are solved because this is the only twitter app I like.
Love it. Have used it for years now. One issue I am having is the photo upload only lets me select from my camera folder (can't pic screenshots, etc). Would love to see it fixed, either by showing all folders or allowing for use of an external photo chooser app. EDIT: no updates for almost a year now. No polls, can't see tweet threads, image selection still not fixed. Taking this app out behind the shed.
Abandoned. Extremely limited. Max one user account only. Can't select account List. Can't block users. App needs lots of work — better conversation view, mentions (other users) and quick access to multiple account profiles. Annoying dimming of media for 5 seconds when playing or fast forward/rewinding. I suspect app has been abandoned..
This was a great app until it started having issues displaying images in quote retweets; it just doesn't work. Also, threads also just never work. You also can't block people on the app? You can only mute them. Half the time when you tweet something, the app just says something went wrong and deletes it. Unbelievable that the dev has a premium option, they should be ashamed.
Close to great, but missing some basic features from the official Twitter app. For example, it's missing the "Turn off retweets" option that let's you mute specific people's retweets without muting them entirely. Also why would I need the navigation bar to have links to my profile, topics, and tweets I've liked in the past? Especially the latter, that's useless. Yet there's no link in the header to view notifications/mentions?? Please let us change the nav bar to only have links to what we want.
Looks and runs great, but the widget could use more options. Primarily, I'd like the option to show images in the widget. It would also be nice if we could choose which application to open when clicking on tweets in the widget, but that's less important than the images. == Notifications are also somewhat slow, as the app doesn't offer an option to capture the push notifications from the official Twitter app. They instead show up at regularly polled intervals (15 minutes by default).
As compared to other also well received and reviewed clients, this one is not only stable, efficient, and fully functional, but also aesthetically designed and implemented that delivers a very satisfying user experience. Don't waste time as I did trying other clients, this is the one! Forgot to mention that I'm only using the free version.
Not as intuitive as it could be, and although you can enlarge the message text (good) you can't enlarge the glyphs (bad). But it has a dark mode so I'll persevere. I normally pay for apps but only when I see a list showing what I am paying for, I can't be arsed to click on everything to find out. So this is one of my few FREE apps.
Buggy! Can't type a direct message and the app freezes when you get one. Get a notification about a mention? You can read it, then close the app (swipe it away) and restart it to get back to your main feed. On the surface, it seems promising. In reality, it's not ready for release (written March 2020). Uninstalling, sadly.
Hello, it's really hard to get to the replies especially when there's a video/picture I click it accidentally instead. Sometimes the replies don't even load! (Given that I have a good internet connection) The user interface is rigid and feels like I jumped way back in time. I would really like to access my bookmarks because I always used to use it when I was using the normal Twitter app. Would also be a nice option to customize the navigation buttons so that I add notifications instead of explore for example when I want to. Also there should be a description of what I would get if I buy Owly Pro like Spotify and any other legitimate brand. They tell you what you're going to get in details. If these problems get solve the rating will go up to 5. Also there's a bug that makes tweets that I only liked appear on my profile (but only in the app) and it's really annoying.
Getting real sick of the "Oops something went wrong" message appearing when posting. Doesn't happen all the time, but enough to be a real pain! The app is fully to-to-date and none of the other apps caused this much frustration. Also there's no ability to post video or webm/animgif - just images. Other than the error this would be fairly polished compared to other Twitter apps; just very basic.
Feels like a solid option, but not as good as Flamingo (RIP). Wish it had more swipe gestures (e.g. swiping to close image or between tabs). Also, I wish the auto play settings were distinct for videos and GIFs, especially because autoplay of videos leaves the sound turned on. The toggle to only include the "reading" list tweets should also exist in the main timeline page or it should be in a separate tab. I had no idea what that feature did until I dug around in settings and the walkthrough at the beginning doesn't make it clear. It should be more obvious. I would also love the ability to add a list as a separate tab in the navigation. That feature is indispensable because I often have to read about specific topics at specific times and it will probably make me stay with Flamingo or Fenix for now. I would love the media previews to also include weblinks, which is something other Twitter apps do so I can know where I'm clicking through. Lastly, it would be nice if a long press on tabs or icons in the app explained what that button does with a small popup. For example, in the bottom right corner of each tweet there is a square with an arrow pointing out of it. It's unclear what that icon does or how it's different from clicking on the tweet itself. It'd be nice to have those tooltips to help guide the user. I did pay for the app though. Hope it leads to more improvements.
It's a pretty good app, nice looking, sleek and better than the main twitter app. Nonetheless, the lack of notifications for likes and followers makes it a dealbreaker for me; the notification system is not fully customizable either. My other issues include the fact that I can't look at the media tabs of different users (important for me since they're artists). If those issues could be solved, I'd happily change my review and even buy the app. For other possible additions to the app you could add lists where you only see the media that those people share (ie, drawings made by artists, having a feed of only images and so). Please, do notify me if you do such changes.
It works really well, and looks great. Holding over a picture and releasing in the download button is a superb UI design decision. The white theme is perfect. I miss a way to capture tweet screencaps and not just pictures, and the number of replies in tweets scrolling through the timeline. Having a way to customize the appearance of the tweet cards would be great, too, like Sync does with Reddit posts. I'm very happy with my purchase. Thank you!
I installed this app after Twidere bit the dust yesterday. It works really well and does everything that I need it to. The UI is good and being able to pick up where I left off (instead of going to the most recent tweet every time) is a real plus for me. It would be nice to have a mute button for videos or be able to swipe to dismiss media, but those are minor things.
There's only a few decent Twitter clients for Android, to me, this is one of them, great UI, and some interesting features like the digest section & auto play video with sound, but missing a few common features like absolute time, swipe to dismiss tweets and media, also doesn't show a preview for all web links even though the setting is on, whereas Flamingo for twitter does, lastly, I cannot open links in the app. Still a good app though, hope development continues. Thanks
The endless tweet! What a great innovation, this is a novel idea and this app is better than most because of it... but ... the rest of the app is, to say, not near user friendly. The "reading" option takes primo space in the left corner of the screen that it doesnt utilize + the reading function itself is not well thought out and underutilised; nice idea bad execution + the lists option (there are no bookmarks) doesnt work + no blocking (!) , work to do....
I'm having a problem with notifications. I have purchased the pro, and have set up the notification sound to another own sound, but when a notification arrives the phone just vibrates - no notification sound! Also noticed that the Owly icon pops up in the notify bar on the 'phone, saying "you have new tweets", but when I go to check for new tweets there are none! I think what is happening is when Owly does it's check, it is just automatically saying new tweets even where there are none. I have uninstalled and re-installed Owly, but still getting the same problems. Note: I have checked this on 2 phones I have, one is Android 9 and the other is Android 10.
It's... Weird. It's excellent and weird at the same time. Twitter Digest and twitter creation are awesome. Lists, Mentions and Retweets are on the secondary menu, while my own replies, favorites and settings are on the primary one. Who changes the settings all the time? I guess it's a legacy from previous versions. A little reorganization of menus can make the app much better. Oh, to not be able to see threads is a major issue.
The layout and design is really nice but it just can't be used as a capable twitter client. There doesn't appear to be anywhere I can find my notifications, mentions etc.? And trying to upload any kind of media in a tweet is absolutely DIRE. Takes sooooo long to load and it doesn't even load correctly. Loads about three folders and clicking on one causes the app to hang completely.
I was looking forward to finding a new Twitter app and thought this was the one. But after spending some time, I couldn't reply to anyone. I was using the free version. Didn't see the point to continue using it if the reply button was grayed out. Update: Seems that certain areas of the app are buggy and touch isn't accepted. changed my rating to 4 stars now that it's working better than the first install.
I've been looking for a replacement for the native Twitter app and I finally found it. I've spent a lot of time and money by apps. This one is definitely worth the money. I really like the UI. Only one change I'd suggest and thst is to allow a GIF after the words rather than opening a new window and lose what you've already typed. 👍
Despite the three stars, I have to say it's the nicest twitter app I've ever used. Buttery smooth, beautiful interface, easy and straight forward to use. It's awesome. So, why the three stars? Because it can't access the storage on my Note 9. So I can't post media. It says it can, but it can't. I've written to support twice, and no reply. I'd love to buy the "pro" version, but if this is an example of their support...
It's fast. It displays my feed in order. It saves my scroll position (though sometimes when I open the app, it is scrolled down to several weeks ago for no apparent reason). Still one of the better apps I've tried. Update: one of the BEST apps I've tried. Though occasionally it still prompts me to rate it 😂
Love the design, and the app it self. Some improvements I would love to see: 1: The digest is great, but I would love to see all of the tweets from my reading list in a feed form, rather than having to read each account individually. Also, would like to see the digest have tags, or a trending aspect to it. I want to get to important news fast with the digest! 2: Finally, the biggest problem for me is when someone dm's me a tweet, it opens it in the browser, rather than going to the tweet.
Very nice interface and it seems to work well. The "reading" feature is convenient for quick access to favorite follows. Also like the ability to download videos. Only issue I've noticed is that my old DMs don't show up and I'm not receiving new messages from an active group DM.
I've just purchased the paid version after my previous Twicca app failed to work. I think it's really good, but I've got one issue... Even though I've have put sound notifications on, I only get a pop up and don't get any sound notification... Is there a problem with this? Can this be sorted? It's the only reason I paid for the upgraded version.
Very clean and aesthetically pleasing UI. Color theming would be nice, but as it is is just fine, kinda like an app's personality. However functionality of it leaves a lot to be desired. Apparently you can't post videos and you can't know when you get a like on a post. Tweet digest is a welcome feature, yet it's somewhat buggy, as at times it "digests" me at irregular intervals instead of preset hours. I applaud the ability to download almost any media from the post. Well done there 👏🏻
