For those stuck on a ladder, try timing your taps very close to the base of the ladder as Alex reaches the bottom. This worked for me on every ladder I got stuck on. The story isn't really elaborated on deeply enough. It vaguely tells you what is going on with the group and why, but not to a degree you get the full picture without speculation. And the notes should really have been streamlined into the story instead of tacked on to force backtracking. Really ruined the flow.
They fixed a bug that was preventing me from progressing so I'm re-reviewing. Fun game, interesting social dynamics, much better written dialogue than many games in the genre. Only thing is I wish they'd let you turn off the music and use your own. The ambient soundtrack is fine, but it's more fun with my own.
Have played for about 3hrs and it's good. Would describe it as interactive storytelling more than a game per se. Great sound design. Has some genuinely creepy moments. Really original concept. Not dumbed down at all, smart writing, assumes an educated audience. But I don't really feel like I affect the world; for the most part you just watch the story unfold. Dislike the protagonists because they speak in that jaded sarcastic so-over-it millennial way and it's painful to hear, if accurate.
Love the atmosphere and the plot. Puzzles not too complicated, at least up until now. Dialogues are a bit corny at time, but I love that they seem natural, characters cutting each other in mid sentence. But there are a lot of glitches when it comes to getting dowwn the ladders and similar stuff.
It's a beautifully rendered game and the story seems great but I have had to restart the game 6 times now due to the main character (Alex) getting stuck (BUGS!) On rock walls. She's just stuck endlessly looping in an attempt to get off the rock walls. And it's not always in the same location. It's different everytime. I've just uninstalled and will attempt a reinstall. Not sure what else to do here.
This is a really beautiful game which I really enjoyed. Fair warning though, it's an interactive story really, not a game - very few points where you have to do more than click or select dialogue. Have repeated a couple of sections and dialogue choices didn't seem to affect too much. Controls could at times be a bit wonky for me too (Galaxy S8). But with those caveats would recommend
I have played the Xbox version of this game and I loved it. I was so excited when I saw that it was available on mobile. I have the newest galaxy available and plenty of room on my phone for this game, but the game just kept freezing. I would restart the app and maybe get a little further in the story, but no fail, it would freeze again. I ended up just requesting a refund because it was pretty much unplayable, and was more frustrating than anything.
It's an awesome game. The plot is interesting and the coversation between characters has brought me a lot of fun. The voice acting is amazing as well. However there's some problems which make it a 4 stars. There's bugs inside the campground which it sometimes only show the basic structure of the area, which means i can only go around by guessing. It also takes very long to enter the other area and the game force quit a few time as well, but the gameplay worth a high rating and paying overall.
I stopped mid-game (it's running in the background) to write a review because I know there are others like me who are frustrated with the shortage of good horror games for android! This is exactly what I've been craving. Engrossing and original story, great graphics, and the perfect amount of creepiness. No gore or ridiculous-looking monsters. A heads-up for those about to play; you might think your graphics are glitching out at some point. They're not. ;) Awesome awesome awesome game.
I had a lot of trouble putting it down. The game was intense, and I spent the whole time excited to see what happened next. I loved the voice acting and the story, the little details. What I didn't love was that the game glitched a couple times, and when that happened, I had to start the whole level over, even if I was at the end (once in the facilities--couldn't trigger the door lock for anything, and the other was a climbing wall that Alex refused to respond no matter what I did after she froze on it). The time spent walking was slow, but the ability to either continuously control the character or set a goal was really helpful, so I could scroll through the radio. The game had me on the edge of my seat, and I'm going to have to play through again to find more that I missed the first time.
The game pulled me in right away with the art, music, and excellent dialogue then kept me hooked as the storyline progressed. However, it does crash frequently which can be a major pain. I have found that clearing the cache and attempting to restart the game eventually gets things moving again but it can be very frustrating. If the story hadn't been so awesome, I probably would have given up and tried to get a refund.
One of the best storytelling game I ever played. But technically this port has some issues. First, when you commend Alex to go somewhere and there will be climbing wall or ladder, she can block herself in never ending "cath and release" animation, second issue is a reflection in water (I remembered, that in console edition it was better, but it can be just my imagination) and the last thing I noticed is background. In some location images in background is moving faster than you passed it.
This was an amazing game! Excellent story and voice acting. I finished this game in a couple days. I wish it was longer, but the choose your adventure model allows for a lot of replay value. The premise was awesome with some Stranger Things/Cabin in the Woods vibes. I really hope they put out more games. Clarissa was really out of line (biggest con) to the point of not being believable.
Great game, bad port. Love the Story, but sadly the game has a problem with my screen ratio. The sides of the screen are cut off by black bars, which hide the buttons beneath it for the radio and I guess some kind of pause menu. This definitely needs work, but I don't think that will happen. Well, I'll be sticking to Switch or PC for the next one.
I'm not a huge gamer, but wow what a game. This is literally a piece of art. The story is engaging, the characters and character development may have been cliché but it was executed excellently. The sound design was amazing and really helped to tie the while thing together. I'd happily pay more for a product like this. looking forward to seeing more from Night School Studio. you guys rock.
A game that takes quite the scare and interaction, making it totally worth trying it. The trailer shows it pretty clear. As the story goes, you get response option popups from time to time like a real conversation. Like a real conversation, you have to response fast or you will miss your chance to response. Also, if you do get near the end, there is a bug where you can get stuck. Do not move back up the ladder when you do, instead run around the floor until you escape from getting stuck.
I really wanted to like this game and I'm sure it's really great. I was able to play maybe 3 minutes but then it just kept crashing, and when the app is in the background it still plays the music for some reason. when it didnt crash the game would just freeze and then just repeat a certain segment of the music, like on a scratched CD. I'm on the Samsung galaxy s10+ if that helps for a possible update to make the game work properly. I did get a refund. will repurchase of the issue is resolved.
A great experience, but sadly little replay value and little actual gameplay. Very pretty and a very engaging story with simple point and move controls. There's a couple of puzzles and you get limited time to make certain responses during dialogue which spices things up. This is one game I think everyone should play once. You really do get attached to the characters and their story.
Good game. Great voice acting and a decent level of options. I especially liked the continue timeline option and played it via that straight after finishing the first time. Alex sometimes gets stuck getting off ladders, you can use the press + drag movement option to get over that. Fun game. Save points could be more visible... Literally didn't want to exit in case I lost progress. Speech options need to be there a bit longer, maybe just make it configuable. 👍
Creepy and charming. The action options in this game are amazing. The game can and will move on without you doing much at all, which is nice because it makes the other characters feel like they have more agency and lends to the sense of inevitability that is central to the horror. The voice acting and artwork are superb. I highly recommend this game.
Pretty amazing. Great artwork style. Great voice acting. Very atmospheric. Really good storyline. Just lost a star on gameplay. Whilst the plot is really gripping, the actual gameplay and puzzles are very linear and one dimensional. Think of it as less of a puzzle game, and more of an interactive animation and you won't be disappointed.
Phenomenal game. I played the PC version for hours on end. Many endings, paths and choices to make. Everything you do (or don't do) alters the way the game plays out. I still haven't gotten every possible achievement. For fun, see how long you can go without making any dialog choices. 🤣
This is one of those games that you have to play. Think of it like this: choices of TellTale Games + 80s music and effects in modern times + paranormal horror + the perfect mix of backstories and character interactions = Oxenfree. I've played this game more than 3 times and haven't gotten the same ending once. What Stranger Things is to Netflix, Oxenfree is to the gaming world. I highly recommend this game I've got it on all platforms and I cannot wait the sequel, Lost Signals, coming in 2022.
It's a great game with a really nice art style and a clear point. Unfortunately, since I switched to the S10 it is practically unplayable. It automatically freezes up at the menu and I have to close out of the app. I have tried to reinstall it and I still have this issue.
I played the pc version so many times, I love this game so much. It's spooky and unique. I like the mechanics of interacting with characters and using the radio to progress through the game, the story is incredibly interesting, the art is beautiful, everything about this game is amazing. 10/10 I have recommended this to people and will continue to reccomend it.
One of the best narrative in a game which I enjoyed A LOT of playing! A very interesting and very thrilling plot which makes you play until the end over and over again. If you want the whole story, you have to play again to get some of the plot points which is only available on replay. There are many secrets laid out in the game so you might want to check every little thing you come across. Or just look at it on google and get the full story easily.
brilliant! an excellent game, far from the average shoot-um-up, filled with plot twists, great dialog and voice over work, and likeable characters. The added supernatural twist in the story is perfect. it is challenging without being too hard, where your character's dialog will direct the storyline.
I purchased this game originally on steam for my computer, and after such an incredible playthrough, I knew i had to have it for my android. The fact that every player can have a different ending keeps it entertaining, and I love the idea of shaping my character's personality and how others see them. Seriously, get the game. It's worth it.
The game is great. Little bit issue, the game does not fit the whole screen and theres still gap on the screen. Please update the game and make the game fit with the ratio screen phone. And i dont know it is a bug or not, the bot character(jonas) sometimes gets stuck every time i climb the wall.overall, its great game just need an update to support with the latest screen phone.
This looks so promising, but as many others have mentioned, the screen aspect is wrong on some phones (OnePlus Nord in my case), meaning that black bars obscure a lot of each end of the screen. Beginning of game, I was asked to pull out radio. Helpful finger is pointing to the upper right corner, inside the black bar there. I have no chance to pull out the radio, as it is off-screen. When I somehow manage to get the menu up, a third of it is missing. No comments from Devs. Do you not care?
