Fools of Oxford university don't know that there dictionary is not working. Really Stupid Guys.
Last update 07.Nov 2014. Deleted this app
I don't know what is wrong with the app. Even though i have a great internet connection but the app won't run. There is some serious bug crippling the app underneath. You should fix it real soon before it's too late. Don't you ever forget that there are other free dictionaries available in the market as well. If you don't fix this sooner, then people are consequently going to switch over to other product.Thank you.
The app is good. Was looking for this one for some time. There is one error that it has to be force closed on my device. Also it would be good if 'word of the day' feature shows meaning of the word in app itself, instead of browser. Also, please include thesaurus and offline dictionary. This is a highly demanded app, it wont matter if size goes up to 15MB on some divecis
The dictionary as such is very good of course, the app however has fewer functions and features than a simple bookmark of their webpage. It's a shame they couldn't even be bothered to give you an option to store your search history - that would actually help learners by letting them review words they recently had to look up. Edit: the app stopped working now. It asks me to connect to the internet when I clearly am connected.
DO NOT INSTALL! The app no longer works. From the Oxford University Press Web site: "On 18 March 2018, we will be discontinuing the Oxford Dictionaries Quick Search app. The app is several years old, and we are no longer able to support it on the new mobile operating systems being developed." It was a marvelous app while it worked, but they should remove the app now.
It looks like a great dictionary; I would like to use it so that I could get some idea of whether it would be worth the money to get one of Oxford's paid dictionaries. However, it seems to have an issue which prevents it from connecting to the internet, so I have not used it at all. I know I have a reliable connection, so there must be some bug. I would be happy to change my rating and review if it gets fixed.
I was well happy when I found this app & it was really useful, but recently it keeps saying that or can't be used without an internet connection, even when I have a good data connection, even when i'm connected to my wi fi. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling...the same. I know this is a free app so you don't owe us anything, but it would be great if it could be fixed. Thanks!
We don't have to open such a thick dictionary just have to type what we have to search & its in front of us & that to simplified
This app is useless at the moment. Asks for an internet connection even though there is one and won't do anything
Sad. Got new Galaxy S8 and now it won't connect. Keeps telling me no internet available when everything else works fine. Was my favorite but now useless. Maybe one day it'll get fixed.
Installed this app about a month ago. And I can't use it without mobile data, its not working with wifi. Don't find it helpful.
I love this as a electric dic it makes me satisfy when i need to know the meaning of words.. Thank you
Sadly it looks like this app has been abandoned - like other users, I can't get past the 'you must be connected to the internet to use this app' message
This app is is so good i refer it to my staff members also just because of words dictions whith its comprehansive words.
M sure this is a good one. But Not for a user who can't always get good data connection cos it don't work offline.
I am connected to WiFi and this asks for internet. What the hell is this.. Don't download this.
I think it's awful when an app complains of absent data connection when I do, in fact, have three - all working fine when needed.
They say quick search but it is same as others alought slow even don't describe any word fluently
Can't even use it after installing. Keeps telling me I need an Internet connection even though I'm connected to WiFi and 4G.
This dictionary suffers from a lack of a decent UI and subsequently creates a terrible experience trying to navigate to words. What's the point if the app requires an active connection? Might as well use Android's browser which performs better. The meanings are fine, but with this package, all it's doing is wasting your space and resources being on your device. Install WordWeb and be done with it.
I just uninstalled and then reinstalled the app because it didn't recognize that I had an internet connection. And when I tried to use it again, it refused my request because it said I had no internet connection
Just used it once. Good, but would have been better if it had included voice pronunciation. Also, an offline mode is expected.
Worked well for a while but like many other reviewers I now get constant messages that I'm not connected to the Internet, even though I AM and all other apps that require Internet access work just fine. Will be uninstalling.
You don't need to buy anything and it's a compilation of many dictionaries so very useful
It was fine, till these days that it crashed. I am lloking for another dic app.
That's incredible ! It is above reproach. Whatever you need is available and easily accessible. Hardly can one find a better dictionary app anywhere or even a match. I have the distinct pleasure to pay due homage to all who contributed to make this application highly satisfying and a tangibly real success. It deserves 10 stars. Congratulations !
Quick Search constantly gives messages saying it needs an internet connection. Cleared data, still failed. Uninstalled, reinstalled (successfully using Play Store), and it still fails. Duff error message when dictionary server is off line maybe? Anyway, I still don't know what 'Ontography' is. I'll try Free Dictionary. Hope you are back soon.
When it cannot we quickly connect to the publisher's server, it insists that there is no connect to the Internet itself, and immediate enters a passive-aggressive mode of demanding that the user devote his attention to each new attempt, instead of the app's automating retries. Punk programming.
