Oxford Phonics World: Personal
Oxford Phonics World is a three-level phonics course that leads you through the sounds of English. Children over three years old learn sounds step-by-step with a tried and tested methodology. Games, puzzles and fun animations motivate children to discover and remember the connections between sounds and the letters that represent those sounds.
With Oxford Phonics World your child can:
• learn the English alphabet
• understand the relationship between letters and their sounds
• blend sounds together to read words
• learn through play, with a range of games
The three levels have over 200 words and fun animations:
• Level 1 teaches the English alphabet and its sounds, introducing over 100 words along the way
• Level 2 teaches how sounds combine together with consonants to form more complex words (e.g. ram, can, cup, jet, and many more)
• Level 3 introduces different spelling variations of long vowel sounds (e.g. rain, seed, night, bow, cube) and introduces over 75 new words
Extras:
• complete all units of a level to win a trophy and certificate!
• each level of Oxford Phonics World contains an Extras unit with fun activities such as a Picture Maker and Animation Gallery
• Unit Access allows you to switch between following the curriculum in order or moving between your child’s favourite activities

I am a kindergarten phonics teacher. This app teaches the wrong sounds. It teaches the schwa sounds and not the correct phonemes. Don't use this app as it reinforces poor phonics.

Quite possibly the worst app ever designed for education. The games are boring, confusing, and there is no music. Additionally, the 4th game of Aa-Cc has a bug that prevents the user from choosing any more tiles. The app is designed to compliment the phonics world course book (which is good, except the multi-ROM which is also terrible). There also isn't a strong enough focus on the actual sounds connected to the phonograms - the games simply say, "click on Sailor Sally to begin the game," then silence ensues while you try to figure out what you're actually supposed to do. It would, in no way, help a child connect sounds to words. I wonder if the designers did any research at all into what children actually like. I also wonder if they tested their product. It's advertised as a "new" product on their website - frankly, they shouldn't have bothered. I would be embarrassed to use this as a selling point for my ELT course. Surely a multinational corporation such as OUP can do better than this! Highly disappointed to say the least.
This takes up a huge amount of space. There are no instructions what to do in the games. The grown up button also seemed to start an online purchase rather than being settings or similar. Overall very odd because of the lack of direction. Would also be better with a UK English option
I am truly disappointed. I just installed this app on a RCA 7 tablet and the app will not open. I get an error message. I really wanted this app because it is rated really high and it dovetails nicely with the lessons I provide to my children.
I was disappointed that this was American as wanted English and thought was safe with Oxford University Press! No instructions given at beginning of exercises so not very helpful there.

very boring,slow,incomplete and NOT FREE....by the way i have the book and the CDs doesn't work...this why i looked up for an application,if you continue like this you will probably extinct.

I thought this was a totally free learning game so why after 1 on every level is it saying that i have to pay for all the rest. very disappointed by this game i sld not be expected to pay for an Oxford game when i can get all the Oxford Owl ebooks for my girls to read online for free.
