The most terrible app I have used in my entire life. Trying to scroll takes me back 15 pages behind. It doesn't handle orientation changes. It's really hard to read on it and doesn't take advantage of my screen size and density. The one thing it does (thankfully) is always remember which question I was completing before it crapped out. I cannot believe the poor quality of this app. It's too bad because the content is really good and interesting.
This app is horrible. I thought I'd do the eLearning ahead to save time at the resort. For the money that i paid, i got the worst experience. Not only is the user experience the worst (like other comments said) , but in the background it is full of bugs and technical issues. I had to call support several times for several days in a row just to get it to work. I deeply regret having bought this "eLearning". Only giving 1 start for the responsive and nice tech support. App - 0 stars!!
Somewhere in the world is the person who designed the PADI learning app, and they probably think they made a useful contribution to society and human progress. They are gravely mistaken. Crashes constantly, incompatible with full screen, constantly scrolls madly, often is unable to load videos. It's a shame there is no alternative...
This app is horrendous. No way to skip to a specific page or section from the index. The pages are windowed, meaning they don't use the whole screen. Often ithe app freaks out and jumps back to the beginning of the book. This is terrible after Flipping through 200 pages to get to the section you need. Just bad... Give me a damn PDF.
Really bad app. Took ages to download the courses (definitely not the internet connection) and while doing it the app froze several times and was not useable. When the courses work i can use 60% of my screen. The rest is just white. Scrolling and Zooming is annoying. The videos don't have a bar so you have to rewatch the whole video if you are not able to finish it in one session. You can not mark anything or do the exercises. @PADI: Just delete the app and make the website better!
Terrible reading experience! You can't resize the text and zooming is completely unpredictable! You have to scroll the zoom window around and pray you don't touch the white bars in the side of the screen or you are immediately reset back to the beginning of the section. Worst reading app experience ever! Save yourself and get the physical book.
Absolutely shocking. For the cost you pay, this is the worst e-learning experience I have ever had. App crashes half way through a module. Then it won't let you log back in (blank page). I'm half way through my course and go away to finish the practical in 4 weeks. If the app works i'll be fine, if not then padi owe me alot of money back! Will never use this app or the e-learning again.
I was a bit surprised to see the 1.7 star rating. On both my pixel 3a xl and my wife's Xperia xa1 ultra, this app has been a pleasant, educational and useful way to work towards our certification. Compared to other hobby-specific apps, it's been pretty well done. Not perfect, but far from the garbage implied by 1.7* Possible improvements: -fully design for smart phone form factor - use the whole screen! -don't pop to top of section if I switch to another app -playback controls on video
This app is very informational and is way better than reading in a classroom.. however this app is the worst because it keeps freezing and crashing.. plus the videos do not enlarge and when turning the phone into landscape view, the text do not get larger or resize to the width of the device.. that being said I would rate this app functions a 1/5 but the material is a 4/5
I really don't understand the bad one-star reviews. I installed this app on an old Samsung Tablet. Download times were absolutely acceptable, and so far, it has been very stable. There are not many bells and whistles, but it does what it is supposed to: after all, it's a library that keeps your training documents. Of course it would be nice to have some more interactivity, but otherwise the content is excellent - focused on what is really important, and easy to follow.
Very frustrating to use this app on a phone. I would rather read this as a pdf, that would be preferable to this app. The app scrolls randomly and I have to find where where I was reading. The whole document is like different pictures, zooming in to read is also quite unusable. I wish I could use my computer to read the materials but I couldn't log in due to a known issue on PADIs side, the suggested fix: use the app. 🤢
what a joke. horizontal mode on a phone display and no way to change it? not compatible with my tablet? online: someone basically took images of a book and placed them one after the other vertically. pure text block overlays on images. no option to mark any text which would allow proper learning, not in the app nor on the website. what is this, the 90s? get the real book if possible.
Worst app I've experienced. As others stated the reading design is awful. Beyond that the assessments on tablet selecting an answer during an assessment freezes the app then boots you back to the main login screen. On mobile the assessment never actually loads or logs you in, so you're left with blank pages. Both render the whole app pointless since you can't do anything with it.
Dumpster fire. That sums up this app, and PADI's elearning platform in general (Android, IOS and web). Non-intuitive and buggy scrolling, buggy authentication, and the offline mode might work for you...but the pictures for the index aren't cached so you are tapping blindly on a blank screen to open the content. Everyone would be better off killing trees buying the book. Seriously.
Impossible to read easily on a phone. Dreadful navigation, poor scrolling, hard to read fonts. Frankly just scanning the dive book to PDF would have been a better execution that this over-engineered, but poorly executed option. I don't want to ask why I need a separate app to my "normal" PADI app either... suspect something else not well thought out is the answer. What a shame.
The app keeps scrolling up at random points and yet makes it difficult for me to scroll back down. Wish I could flip the pages rather than scroll down slowly. I also can't seem to view the lessons in landscape mode which would make it soooo much easier to read.
The app is quite good in terms of knowledge. The major issue is: 1. It doesn't provide for full screen mode & even zooming is not good. Reading is too difficult and video size is also very small. 2. Navigation issues and takes back to main screen everytime.
Terrible app-hope the class is better! Half the time the app won't load the questions (sticks or doesn't advance) but the other half of the time it doesn't properly show completed assessment summary. Had to take the final assessment 3 times for it to show as completed! Called PADI and they said it was a known issue, but didn't offer assistance other than retaking the assessment. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
Great content layout and easy to use navigation, would be even better with optimisation for mobile phones...it was a rather convoluted process to buy the ReActivate content where a simple in app purchase could have been used. The content was perfect to get ready to go back in the water after time away.
Poorly formatted and more annoyingly it can with the slightest mistouch send you all the way back to the start of the section. So tedious having to scroll back to where you were, finish a page, tap the wrong spot, and have to repeat the process!!! Incredibly unprofessional.
this is the worst paid app i have ever seen. Does not give an option to bookmark, while going back a page it somehow skips many pages back and then you are back to scrolling 10s of pages. This is not how an elearning app is made. therr are free apps which are several times better and more intuitive.
I can only confirm the other reviews, this is probably the worst app I've seen in a long time. absolute unusable, crashes constantly and is so badly engineered I don't even know where to begin. People, if you get to choose, take the book and save some nerves!
Completely unuseable. I didn't think anything could be worse than the padi open water course running through Chrome, but this is worse. It immediately glitched out on my galaxy s9+ and despite the large screen, text was about a 4pt font. For all the $$ going to training through padi, you'd think they could afford to hire a developer that would make the text legible. At this point, padi is preventing effective learning on 2/2 platforms I've tried.
App works fine for reading material. But on the first test, as soon as I try to select my answers the app crashes. I have tried it multiple times with no success. Update: Developer promptly responded and fixed the issue. Great customer service.
The course itself is good, unfortunately the app has some VERY annoying flaws. In particular it does not use the full size of the screen. This might be okay on a large desktop computer, but to waste so much space on a 6 inch smartphone screen is really stupid.
Frustrating App to use!!! On my 6" screen, I can't read the small wording. When I use pinch-zoom, the App scrolls to the 1st page!!!! I am so frustrated with this "learning" App!!! I have exams in 2 days and I have to re-scroll to every page like 10 times!!! Fix this App so that it supports seamless pinch-zoom or export the files to PDF so that I can use a decent App to view the content, FFS!!!!
Horrible, this ought to be the worst app ever from a multi million dollar company, struggle with download, dosent utalize the entire screen, you have to read a 16:9 document on the height, the app dies while downloading some times. If a download fails you have to restart the app, or it will fail indefinitely. Make a more reliable app, note that most people utalizing this app are not at home, most are at islands with bad internet, build in some features to handle that.
Two things can be done to make this much more enjoyable to use. The first, is when scrolling up & down through the pages, it very often sticks. It just doesn't move up or down, it simpy doesn't respond. Very irritating. The second is when rotating the phone to enable a portrait view, the page doesn't fit the screen. Large empty spaces at the top & bottom of the screen prevent the page filling out. Also, zooming in means the same result. Large empty grey spaces either side.
