It's a shame this app hasn't been updated since July 2018, because this is the only RSS reader on Android I could find with the features I want. Specifically, new article notifications (which doesn't work all the time but still better than nothing), full article loading without opening a browser (and automatically doing so for the sources you choose), and some offline viewing. Just as important, great reading views. What would complete this is matching light/dark theme to system settings.
Pretty good, but seems to be abandoned. The feedback link doesn't work and the last update was three years ago. Plus I'd really like the theme to match system settings, and to be able to see saved articles from a single feed, not just a whole category at once. Still, worth getting premium.
The app stopped working this morning (long before the Cloudflare outage). I cannot get new articles. "Request failed. Please verify your Internet connection" is what it says at the bottom. My connection is working fine. I've force-stopped and quit the app multiple times. I even restarted my phone. Even without the current problem, I've always had issues with refreshing my feed by pulling down. I have to tap into the menu and select All Articles to show them. Sometimes even that crashes the UI.
Love it! New phone with Android 9 and GReader no longer available. After much testing of apps I found Palabre. It can use Feedly as a source (so I can keep using Feedly on desktop), and, crucially, allows offline reading! I spend a lot of time on the Tube and this finally allows me to read without a connection (unlike Feedly's own app). I'd say offline works well in about 90% of my feeds. Also sensible UI, doesn't expire old articles, unobtrusive ads, good long press options with premium.
Undecided. I paid for premium as it looked good, was simple enough to use but still has nice presentation. Worried about comments sayings it no longer supported. Also noticed how long it takes for the 'all read' button to appear. It's like it's waiting for me to look at adds, that aren't there, because I upgraded?
App is feature rich and works with ttrss. That is great. However the available list modes are really bad. Magazine/Cards is useless anyway and to quickly get through 5000+ articles one needs DENSE information: So please allow us to remove all useless whitespace and to fit at least 10-20 headlines on a 5 inch screen. Another annoying think is that swyping right wihtin article view does not open the side bar - so every time you got at the end of the current rss feed you need to scroll up and press the menu button to select the next feed. If these two things were fixed, the app could approach 4-5 stars.
Overall, Palabre is great. It's pretty much the only rss reader these days with a good UI and no source limits or monthly subscription. I don't mind one time fee. Definitely recommend this over Inoreader, Read, RSS Reader, Newstab and the others. Full in-app viewer with 'Readability' option, good customization, modern UI, and auto-mark read. Import opml crashed the app for me but it still imported everything so don't really care it happened. Please keep maintaining the app or open source it :D
Overall, well put together. I enjoy that I can use palabre, Feedly, and inoreader all at the same time. I noticed with the inoreader plugin that the images don't always appear, but the article is still readable. Four stars for that fact alone.
Good, Fast Feedly reader. I have only one issue. The icon of the news source wastes a lot of space and is an eyesore. Best way is to completely remove it from the first page and show it only when someone taps to read thw full article or atleast minimise it.
I want to like this app. I really do, especially as I paid to remove ads, but problems keep coming up. Now, on any device, it randomly quits while opening the occasional article and requires a reboot before it ships marking stuff as read I haven't been able to see.
I really like this app, but I can't use it, because I share articles to Facebook and when you use the "Share" button in this app, it shares the title of the article with the URL, causing Facebook to respond with, "Invalid URL". Even if you "Visit Website" and share from there, it adds the site name, so same result. I don't know why it adds the title (or site name), but there at leasts needs to be an option telling it to "Share URL Only". 5 Stars if that gets added!
Some issue going on with the app as many are complaining about the same connection I started getting a day ago. The app worked before but there was always some details that bugged me. This is the last nail, I'm moving to another alternative since this looks abandoned.
You buy the pro version and there is no customer support The app doesn't show all of the feedly (plugin) articles. The feedly app shows there is 500 articles but the palabre app shows there is only 25 article, so I'm switching between apps. Which defeats the point of using this app Add a small palabre widget to show specific subjects you created shows the amount of articles available to that user made folder but when you click the widget it opens to the "ALL" folder and NOT the user folder
Palabre is an excellent Feedly or RSS client. The layout options are great, and the colour schemes are functional. There is even a WearOS client for smartwatches. The issue is support. I think the app has been abandoned since the last update. I'd love for a developer to comment if this isn't true. It'd be five stars otherwise.
I am disappointed not only with the app, but also with the developer's lack of response to the problem I've encountered. I have subscribed to many RSS feeds using Feedly. Palabre works fine for many of them but not all. I have sent the developer's two emails about the problem and they haven't even responded.
It's a good app but it's widgets don't work properly and I tested it on several android devices, using different android OS versions. When I put a small widget & I choose the folder of the articles I want it doesn't go to that article folder. When I click on that widget, it opens the app and brings me to the first file & not the file I clicked on with the widget. That's seriously annoying because I have over 20 files (categories). I would give 5 stars if this was fixed
I've been using it for years, prefer it over feedly due to tabs. One flaw is that it doesn't actually hide muted articles, just shows them as greyed. Also, do we really need to be reminded that we're using palabre constantly? Lose the text on top.
The widget works well, however, it's consuming a great portion of my mobile data even though it's everything configured to sync and download using only WiFi. I'm going to uninstall it due to this issue.
Very, very unstable. Freezes and crashes or just simply crashes when scrolling or reading downloaded articles. Extremely disappointed as in all other respects it's ideal. Have to look for something else to use with Feedly.
Good app except one super annoying thing. Why when I go back from reading some article it (almost every time) returns to all articles overview and not stays at the channel I was reading? And there is one another bug I noticed. After refresh of articles, it quite often "switch" names of lists. So News list show content of IT list etc
Great, but unfortunately there's one really annoying bug. I keep getting feeds from RSS channels I have long unsubscribed from. The only way to get rid of the feeds is to uninstall and reinstall the app (or clear the app's data).
Mind-blowing app with stellar customisations. I am really impressed the way it has been designed. Mobile-friendly. What I like the most is backup and timely notifications for feeds. Highly recommendable app. Deserves ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Great work....👍
Still the best rss reader, even if syncing can take forever. I rely on their "readability" feature all the time...I really hope they haven't abandoned it completely.
Every time I try to load my feeds in Palabre I keep getting a message that no internet connection can be found. This app has been working for several years but this issue started happening in the last week. The Feedly app works just fine. Is Palabre being discontinued?
Problem with notifications. I am not notified of new articles in the status bar when they are downloaded. Tried everything and still doesn't work. I'm sure that's critical for most users
It's ok, works reasonably well but I don't like the lack of dark theme and the display wastes an enormous amount of space. On the good side, doesn't ask for intrusive and unnecessary permissions amd supports theoldreader
Cant seem to import my own rss feed, can only be used via "other providers". For me its kinda useless without being able to import my own feed. That said it hasnt been updated in years so.....
For the last 4 days, it has not updated any stories. An error stating that there is no internet connection appears. Signing out of Feedly and then signing back in solved the issue for me.
Doesnt have a display mode that is a simple 2 x N grid without the annoying feed source icon taking up 20% of the screen space. Also seems buggy adding new feeds from the available favourites.
Beautiful Design, mediocre execution. The central feature of this app is its ability to synchronize and store articles for offline reading. But if you are in the middle of using the app and a synchronization occurs, new articles are placed at the top, even when sorting oldest first, and can be automatically marked as read as you scroll down. How beautiful an app is doesn't matter if it doesn't get the basics right.
