Paladins: Text Adventure RPG

A text adventure RPG where YOU play the characters in a medieval fantasy novel! The story is set in the rich world of Dezrel created by author David Dalglish. You play several different characters including a Paladin of Ashhur, a wolf-man pack leader, a scrappy farmer, and more!

Put yourself into the shoes of the characters and watch the story unfold, but be careful what choices you make. Death is always near.

103 chapters of adventure, over 150 achievements, and TONS of interesting choices. And it's all free. Sweet, sweet, freedom.

These interactive novels are based on David Dalglish's Paladins Series of fantasy novels. Mr. Dalglish has partnered with Delight Games to "gamify" his novel. As far as we know, this is the first time a traditional novel has been gamified like this. Download it and be among the first to experience a novel in this novel way. ;)

Reading made addictive!

I can't even begin to describe how well this story resonated with me. The plot, pacing, and characters are all fantastic, and the fantasy environment is a nice touch, but it's the theme that makes this story stand out so much. Nature vs Nurture, what makes a real man, the meaning of life... I also love how the two sides aren't necessarily better than the other, it's just that one is more corruptible. Nice how the choices add in another layer of immersion, the linear storyline doesn't bother me.

This company produces some top knotch literary material for the fantasy fiction crowd. The story is good, characters make sense, very few errors and the world feels immersive. I would definitely want to hear about the original story. Check out their other apps in the library! This is one of the few apps developers I will watch ads for.

I just got to Book 4, and I'm surprised - I'm interested in the developments, invested in the characters, and most of all, saw numerous moments of... "significance" just strike me, scenes that strongly resonate in reality. I am happy about the gamification, I think the choices show both good common sense, beautiful choices, and real surprises. Most of all, I admire the writer's effort and skill in empathy, I have the impression the writer is able to realistically experience the scenes himself.

Ok so this is pretty well written as far as these go. Each chapter shifting perspective is nice and you get a chance to think about different kinds of choices. You can very much make "wrong" choices, in fact it seems as if there are ideal choices they want you to think about. Makes it somewhat tense... But also a little bit of a linear feeling.

I'm halfway through the first book, and this has been amazing so far! The story is both engrossing (reminds me of The Banner Saga) and well-written (a contrast to the many gamebooks on this store that badly need an editor or at least a proofreader). The choices make you think, although being in the middle of my first playthrough, it is difficult to say how much they affect the storyline. The multi-perspective narrative and the dynamics between the characters are also a great asset.

I is a damn good novel. Awesome interactive choices that makes all the reading fun. But, it comes with a price. Yes everything has a price, ain't it that way? And the price is, yes you guessed it right, it's consequences. Make a wrong choice and prepare to suffer. You ask about the story? The story is solid, although linear and only with one ending despite what choices you make. The end will always be the same.

Awesome story that scratches that D&D type fantasy itch! I had no problems watching ads to get luck like some, you just have to be online to watch them. Sometimes it helped to replay chapters to get more luck via achievements and try different options. I wish there were more achievements to find and that they had hints to find them in the achievement screen but that's just a way to make this great game even better. Thanks for making the game! I had a great time and really enjoyed it.

It's a good choose your own story that keeps me wanting to read, and it's broken into small, manageable chapters for my ADHD brain to handle. You can replay chapters for free until you get a perfect score, which is nice. There are plenty of opportunities to unlock more chapters by watching videos for "luck" points rather than buying the content. If it weren't $9.99 to unlock the whole story (which is too much imo) I'd have bought it outright already. I'd be willing to pay $3 for it.

Great story, but too linear - choices mostly affect 2 or 3 stats. The game rates your keeping up with a role, and your epicness, which distracts from the story. Story telling is from several points of view. Some scenes have no choices, but are "cut scenes". In some cases there is some inconsistency between individual choices and the following text. Sometimes the outcome of the choices does not match very well with the choice.

A very well written story that seems to only get better. I sometimes wish I had even more control over the choices the characters make but I can't complain. The amount of story between choices is well balanced and creates a nice flow. The characters are quite fleshy considering the amount of pages they are developed over. Overall a fantastic read with solid get play

It's exactly what it says it is, a text based adventure with choices. There is the odd piece of artwork which is a nice bonus. The story is pretty good so far, the characters are interesting and have a degree of depth to them. As long as you're making decent choices and thinking about things, the luck point system works well enough that you'll only have to watch an advertisement every now and again. The other ads in the game are fairly unobtrusive and infrequently encountered.

Enjoyed this one. Well written and worthwhile. However, you will need to watch a LOT of ads to get through the entire book! Still, you are able to make a decent amount of progress, enough to determine if you like the game before stalling out. But, once you do stall, it takes DAYS to get going again so you need to periodically open and start the 3 ads while doing laundry or whatever and do that every several hours to keep going. I plan to buy the 30 dollar Uber pack as I was really impressed.

Another great text RPG from this dev. The writing is simple And sophisticated at the same time. Does a great job of pulling you right in without unnecessary babbling. When finished it makes me wanna replay at least once to see the different results. One con is maybe that sometimes there's just one outcome, but only for certain situations & choices. Also it's 100% free! Defo worth your time.

I am enjoying the game very much. This is not all flash, glitz, and glamorous so if you are expecting the normal video game you might be displeased. Do yourself a favor and try it anyway, rather than immersing yourself in rich visuals immerse your self in a well told story that you can actually control the outcome. Only drawback so far is LUCK. It is needed to open new chapters and by watching game ads you can win more luck. Usually can do 3 chapters per session, can also buy them.

Excellent read. Edit: hopefully the developers notice this. About the end of book 3, there are many typographical errors, in particular misnaming. For some reasons, in dialog tags the writer has made errors when referring to the characters name. This doesnt ruin the experience once the readers realize whats happening, but it looks unprofessional. The other books don't have this kind of error, so I'm assuming the developers rushed the release without proofreading.

This God damn novel, let me just say the story is extremely moving the actual text adventure part could use some work, however. The story was so good and the ending was so very moving I'm not going to say in which way. 10/10 for the author an absolutely amazing story I can't stress it enough. I would read all of his novels. In terms of the text adventure you were limited to how much you could read a day and that was rather disappointing and sometimes you wouldn't be able to get the perfect score

When I installed this to help kill time, I found that it has quite an interesting story and few choices inside such story. It shows much promise, but locking each chapter behind unlocking achievements and Luck? This basically tells you to screw how YOU want to play, and pick the "best choices" to further your playability.

A long time ago when I first had it, you could progress without needing to watch ads for luck. Now you do; you eventually run out and have to watch ads for luck. That's fair, the devs need the funding to keep going. However, you can only do like 4 a day for 1 luck each, and they have no problem showing you ads while you're reading for 0 luck. I actually respected Delight games and loved Paladins when I had it like a year ago. I don't mind having to watch the ads, but limiting it is toxic.

I don't know what bugs you fixed, but since I installed this game 12 hours ago it has quit and sent me back to my desktop at least 60 or 70 times or more. I have played all the chapters available in the 4 games of Medieval Fantasy RPG and love them all. As I commented on that game, I have had that problem in that set of games also. But nowhere near as many times as it has happened in this game. Please fix this cause I love these games but am getting very frustrated with this problem. Thank You.

Amazing story, was immediately hooked the moment I started this. Chapters are locked, but can easily be accessed through watching ads (which isn't as bad as it sounds, since achievements and high scores in the game also help). 5/5, will definitely play the next game

I wish you could play the whole thing free offline with no ads...but since you can get more luck by watching ads, or turn off the ads by buying premium, I guess it's not too bad. It would be nice if the ads could keep up with my reading pace though. As a free player, it kinda sux waiting hours or days for new ads sp I can Find out what's next! Story is quite engaging, and even has genuine moral dilemmas. And the correct choices are not always obvious.

It's an interactive novel so don't expect amazing graphics and innovative gameplay. The story is complimented with amazing images every now and then. The story itself is incredible and navigating your way through is simple and easy. I've just finished the first chapter and in excited for more

I Love This. The story is absolutely amazing. It is very immersing and well paced with plot twists included. The story isn't too predictable which is something I love. The characters and their development is fantastic as well. The story writing is just admirable. I'm new to text based RPG and this is one of the first games I downloaded. I did not regret my decision. I definitely recommend this.

A very enjoyable interactive read that has nearly inspired me to write my own novel. I have read two of the three books paying particular attention to the author's notes. We all have stories to tell... I very much appreciate a good ending especially when it gives birth to a new book. I did purchase the book and it is well worth $4.99, so let us support the author. I also watch the videos to earn free luck. Thanks for being generous. I used it many times to correct my poor choices in the novel.

I'm really enjoying it so far, I'd recommend it to anyone just for the joy of this reading experience. You can really get into the characters and shamelessly want them to exist, all in one! Good plot progression and realistic reaponses by the characters, just download it now before I ramble for the next hour.

Great read! Absolutely worth the time and effort watching through those ads just to get luck, and absolutely worth the price if you want to buy it. Though I think there is a bug in Chapter 77, as it seems you can't reach the highest score. Still, one bug does not take away the awesomeness of this book.

Ros. Y. Nov 29, 2020

Interesting story, but you play chapters with a currency called 'luck' that you get from watching ads, making certain choices and unlocking achievements as you play. You can also buy it for a stupid price (1 dollar for the price of one chapter... and the amount of chapters is huge). Why not just offer the option of buying the whole book of chapters for that much? Also, nothing actually depends on your choices... the story doesn't reflect how you play which is dissapointing.
