Pros: Had no issues importing the keyring from my T3. Once imported I can continue sharing the keyring with Linux' jpilot software on multiple machines. Cons: Minor graphic display glitches while scrolling under KK 4.3/4.4 on both CM and Samsung based ROMs.
Used the palmpilot version of this heavily and really like the Android port as well. I have seen other reviews here which criticize it because of its reliance on the "menu" button for access to things ( like the backup and import function), which they say doesn't exist. This is simply not true. Most Android devices do not have a dedicated menu button anymore, but they ALL support it in one way or another. My last phone activated the "menu" button if you held the back down a couple seconds.
Heh -- I'm the guy who learned that he needs to back up his password file regularly, when an app update caused me to lose my passwords (which I hadn't backed up). Thanks for this great program! I used to use Keyring on my Palm Pilot and I loved it. Even though I no longer use Palm, I still continue to use this program. It would be great even if it never was related to PalmOS. So remember -- ALWAYS keep a backup password file!
Works great as a general Android password manager and generator. Export files still work in Linux, see the Keyring plugin for jpilot. Need to find a compatible Windows client as well. This app finally weaned me off the PalmOS platform, thanks Ron.
- the import says put the .pdb file on to the sd card, /downloads folder, but on my S3 it didn't find it there - I had to put it into /downloads on the DEVICE. - it couldn't import some of the items from the old .pdb - I wanted to delete some of those that it imported, but after first item is deleted, the database becomes corrupt and shows up items only with #numbers, and no names - tried to export the imported database, but that export could not be imported back into the same app. (I hoped that would solve the deleting problem.) - if you work with the original clear database, deleting seems to be ok... BUT WE NEED the imported data and continue working on that. All in all it does not look reliable.
On my galaxy ace gt it just stays in a loop of creating the password store over and over. Disappointed as I am a former Palm user.
Excellent ! Still excellent!
Have been using on palm for years!
Neither the Palm app nor the J-Pilot plugin have problems with "#" or "/" characters. What's up with that? Uninstalled.
Used keyring for Palm OS on my TREO for about 4 years. Now I can use it for my new Android phone also - cool! The Palm password-file conversion worked fine for me (look developers website for details!). Thx & best regards to the developer of this app!
240 passwords saved on my Palm, and this imported them all. X2.
Imported my palm database no problem (yes, I still use it). Straightforward app.
Does not work on my LG Optimus S, Sprint. I have had to reload the data base due to constant data corruption. Will have to try another program.
Delighted to find a no-mess, no-fuss solution to move my old Palm keyring across to my HTC device. Many thanks to the developer.
This is where technology really shines - empowering people with old data on a new platform.
Loved the app. Easy simple no frills, safe, secure. Serves the purpose
Are you able to play downloaded palm files on your phone?
import instructions are wrong...Downloads directory needs to be created on device, NOT SD card. menu does not function, so there is no way to export for backup, change password, etc. Please fix this app! It might be great if the menu actually worked.
