I didn't think this app would work when I set it to my Lumix fz80 camera but boy does it work I suffer with trembling hands and trying to take a photo with the camera on a tripod with out a cable release is nigh on impossible for me. But with this Panasonic Image App it works a treat I have had some excellent results since using it. Another good thing about it is because your phone or tablet works with the camera you can see just how clear the image is and your tablet or phone can zoom in.
I'm surprised to see how limited this app is. It transfer only 30 photos at a time, and it has to do in the foreground. If you do other tasks with your phone, the transfer blocks. In one case also my camera blocked, and I had to remove the battery! Filter selection is really poor. It could be much more specific, in example transfer only favourites/protected, transfer within a selected time frame, etc It would be nice to have the possibility to select a photo to transfer while browsing them
With the latest " update " this app lost 50% of it's functionality. Sure you can still control your camera but now the ability to transfer images to your device has been lost. Oh it shows that images are being copied ( albeit at lightning speed which is suspect right away ) but good luck finding them on your device. How people can call themselves " developers " when they develop updates that make an app worse than it was before is beyond me. This app is just another app that has regressed.
The app used to be faster and easier. Now when connecting via direct wifi to camera it won't start the connect process until you press wifi then go back even if you've already connected to the camera manually. Other functions for remote control work well. Transfer is the main reason to use it, that works well although fairly slow for many files or clips.
An absolutely appalling user interface combined with poor execution and no locatable options makes this a most frustrating app. It's almost as bad as most Samsung software, which is no praise at all It could be good, it could be polished, but it's not and it feels barely tested. The latest version (21 Dec 2021) has phantom images and has locked Google image gallery out of the transferred images. Most of the value of this app was in transferring images, and now this basic function is broken
It's ok, it works reliably. The UI could be more intuitive and less cluttered. The process to connect to the phone, sometimes needs reconnecting. Wish the nfc worked for existing connections. The GPS stamping is nice once you understand how it works.
This app has problems. I could do one transfer of images, but then never again, no matter what gyrations I went through. So finally I went into settings/apps, chose Image App and did a "Force Stop." Then I did a device "Restart" (not sure whether the restart as necessary) and then I was finally able to get another transfer done. I am thinking I will have to do a Force Stop on the Image App each time before trying to use it to transfer images.
Prior to recent update, had many problems connecting and sharing to my Android, but after multiple tries, I could get it to work. HOWEVER, since this update, it connects relatively well, but NO PICS SHOW UP ON MY PHONE. What is even the point?!?! I've transferred 5 times, and then nothing shows up in my gallery. Garbage! I need a new camera anyway, but never Panasonic again nope.
it used to work perfectly for the past 3 years. now image files transferred to a mobile phone cannot immediately be opened (unsupported formats?), but then when you uninstall/reinstall the app or restart the phone, you can see that the images appear in the phone gallery. so bothersome. btw am using Samsung M52
It can be a but tricky when you first start using this app but once you know how everything works then it is great. I am currently experiencing some problems with the new update. Where my phone no longer backs up photos and or videos. but I hoped they this will be fixed soon.
I use the app with my fz2500, works fine for me on my Samsung phone, always connects, image transfer works OK, I mainly use it for tripod / long exposure images. I use saved preset custom setting on my camera and can easily do slight setting changes in the app. Also have a remote control tripod so I can sit in my car and do the lot in comfort.
Absolute rubbish, works sometimes but mostly fails to connect to my G6. Used to work a few years back. All I want is to transfer images from camera to phone. Most people do not have time to fiddle around around trying to get it to connect, come on Panasonic sort this pathetic app out.
App keeps dropping off from camera half way through down loading photos. It is so frustrating when you have to then go on to the camera and delete the photos that have been down loaded on to my phone so it doesn't have then added on again. If anyone can help please let me know.
Awful UX, and no reliability. Can no longer transfer photos and is hit or miss on remotely controlling without crashing somehow. Which is a real shame because its also the only way to remotely control my camera.
Completely useless to me at present. Has worked well for a number of years but after the latest "upgrades " it not does not allow me to download pics to my android smartphone or my ipad. Now ,when I have the time , I will have to remove SD card and download the pics to my PC . So frustrating and not good enough from Panasonic
Useful but ridiculously clunky Why do Panasonic offer a first year student app for serious cameras? I don't need to be told that 27 of 100 is 27% but I do need to know how many images 100% represents. Geo-tagging time-sync sets camera time to the time zone of the phone. Bad news if you use UTC everywhere. I would pay for a good equivalent app with proper documentation if someone would write one. 3 years on, rerated from 3 to 2 stars. Someone, _please_, write a competent version.
So unreliable! I spend $4,000 on camera gear and you can't even get your application to work with it. It never gets updated in the past 4 years, it displays all my images phone storage when opening up (not necessary).
Worst ever app. I don't know if the developers really know the term of ease of use. Firstly the connecting to camera is a pain in the a**. And after the update, I can't even transfer the image from my camera. Not sure why the app is still on the app store
Horrific experience. There's like 12 different ways to connect to your phone over wifi. Good god why?! And none of them work lol. Takes about 10-15 min on average to connect my lx100 to my phone. The sony and fuji app take less than 60 seconds.
***Update Jan 2022 - App has been updated to Android 12 and is working wonderfully again!*** Was a great app until newest version on Android came out. I figure it's something with the new OS as this app hasn't been updated since the new OS update. Once this is fixed, this app works flawlessly. Currently, however, app crashes as soon as you connect it to the WiFi of the camera.
Does the job of controlling the camera (lumix fz82) but slow to launch, you have to connect WiFi through the settings on the phone each time before the app connects to the camera. When using the app, i lose access to the Internet on the phone, even if I have mobile data switched on. Can this be worked on? It would also help to be able to edit or at least least delete images from the camera using the app.
