As is the consensus, useless. Yes I can use the web interface, but this is an application designed for mobile use... thus I'm evaluating the mobile app. Given multiple camera inputs, (lecture and blackboard, or PowerPoint), the view cannot be toggled. Obviously a huge issue with limited screen size. Fix that and everything is fine, simple. Checking for update and nah, still garbage. Still terrible.
Wow. That was actually properly horrible. My main concerns were that there was no option to minimize the video, play it in the background or playback as audio, and that i needed to sign in all over again each time I reopened the app. The second might be a problem on the University security's part, but the first is obvious. A smaller complaint is with the orientation being locked in-app along with the device' settings.
You can watch the videos, but you cannot: view folders, search reliably for target videos, or even do anything outside of scrolling down the list and hoping to find yours within a collage of other courses. I recommend they update the app. current i cannot even use panaptos website on my mobile device like i used to. Sad I am typing this review before a huge midterm. this app is disappointing. Stick with PC if you want to get the most out of Panopto.
I have to use this for school, and it drives me crazy. I'm not sure if its buggy or just poorly designed, but the client app won't actually work at all. I have to use the web app which won't allow me to record. Then when I do add content, I can only use the smallest sub-folder. Is this by design? Because that's not how file shares work in any other capacity. Seriously one of the most frustrating apps I've been required to use.
One of the worst apps for an online service I have ever used. Why can't I sort the videos in any way shape or form? Why is the only method of finding any videos the search function which doesn't even return the results in order by date. And you can't even swap between which screen is large and which is small it picks for you. If you're unlucky like me the small screen is the important one you actually need to see. Seriously who coded this app? College students can make a better app than this.
The app is great for watching or uploading video on the go. It doesn't have the full functionality of the desktop version so lacks some of the nice playback functions but its great for catching up on videos from my phone and is an easy way to upload videos I have created using the phones camera rather than transferring them to the computer
I dunno why even i have downloaded the videos, my download folder is always empty when i go back to the app the next day. I am pretty sure that it's not a login issue. This is really frustrating, esp when i wanna do my revision without internet connection. Please fix this if you can!!! Thank you
Needs a feature to be able to record video but other than that it works ok as a video viewing app. Just sign in and see all of the videos. However, in many use cases, it is just as easy (and less app installs) to view the video in a web browser while a Panopto video is embedded in a LMS or on a web page.
does not work well at all. it worked for one day now even though I sign in, it won't let me play downloaded videos because it says I'm not signed in. can no longer find videos I could find yesterday. does not play in the background, no way to find what your were watching. no queuing videos. frustrating because one you get kicked out of a video have to search again to find it.
Not user friendly at all. You should let the users to see the course structure and let the user select the video in the tree. Listing all available videos from all courses without any order doesn't make the app helpful at all.
App crashes if you accept a call or open any other app over it. This happens mostly in the beta viewer but its the only one that allows you to change replay speed, making it the only viable option. App hasn't been updated in 5months.
Wow. Surprised at some of the very neg reviews. May want to check with your uni/comp to see if you have correct permissions/setup. Some may not be Panopto's fault. Or they may not have configured/integrated properly. #1 for video imho. And you can always use web interface too.
This app was very difficult to work with. I ended up having to download it because the website is almost as bad. I would never choose to work with this if it was not for my college course. Awful app that needs to be fixed. Like everyone else said it is NOT user friendly!
Fast forward feature is not available as it is on the web. There's also no way to search vids by folder. When I actually found the vids I was looking for by searching the professor's name, they were out of order and theres no option to sort...
Complete garbage. The only way to find the videos I want is by clicking on the link in a web browser. I search for the title and can't find it. It doesn't let me bookmark or download videos I'm watching. Total waste of time.
I use this app on a regular basis and never have issues. The ability to verify remote recorders as an administrator is fantastic. If you are a Panopto admin, it is a must have.
Absolutely useless, not an app but a web viewer. No options and no function above going on the same thing on your web browser. Can't even lock your phone and keep playing.
Horrible application. Ever since the update I haven't been able to access any videos from my school though the app. This is difficult since I don't have my laptop at all times.
Very disappointed - only shows small version of screen in bottom corner that I can barely see! Big black background isn't much help when you're trying to follow a presentation
It logs me out everytime close the app. More frustrating thing is it doesn't let me login unless i clear the data for application from setting. It drains my phone battery very fast.
Cannot stay logged in. I sign in and it takes me to a bunch of irrelevant videos. At the top it says sign in. The app is in some kind of continuous loop. Will be complaining about this in my course evaluation.
Crashes when trying to login via Moodle. Also lacks video speed options, and the ability to rotate video with the phone.
Still garbage. Unwatchable on mobile as different cameras are not toggle-able and are instead PiP, resulting in large black screen and tiny blackboard lecture.
Never felt the need to write a review before but this is absolute garbage! I can't get any work done. It crashes and never gives me access to the videos I need for a class grade. What's the point of this app???
This app could be much better. The search function doesn't pick up the most relevant related topics (for example, old lectures being prioritized to new lectures). And the app lacks the folder integration that the web client has. I would also appreciate the ability to choose to continue listening with my phone locked. The overall viewing experience is similar to the web client so that is nice.
