Paper Monsters 3d platformer

This game is a 2.5d platforner with the protagonist being a cardboard box cutout. The graphics are charming, every part of the environment looks like it is really made out of crumpled and folded papers and the gameplay is great, if not a bit generic. Being one and a half stages through, I have experienced cannon blasting, minecart riding, submarine diving, pipe traversing, sledge riding and lots of jumping. The game is almost completely ad-free and purchases for products are reasonably priced.

If they just picked up the pace a bit and improved the SFX and soundtrack this wouldn't be nearly as bad. I know it seems like a small gripe but it really started to be get to me after 10 minutes.

Adverts in between levels for a free game is perfectly fine and understandable. But adverts that pop up during a level which then force you back to the beginning of the level when you close them, that's just plain broken. This is a nice game, and I know the paid version is pretty cheap, but I'd rather just play Sonic 2. And thus, let the uninstalling commence.

Although the game is short (or so I've read) and pretty easy, it has a nice aesthetic and it's pretty fun to play. I would've liked a Swordigo/Nerd Adventure/Tiny Dangerous Dungeons style control option with the two nicely spaced directional buttons though. With the current controls the game feels a bit too floaty and janky to me. That could very well be my inexperience though. I would also have liked some more 'phone-y' innovations in the game, maybe some gyroscope or drawing/gesture actions or something. Just to make it stand out a bit more and to make it feel like it has more of a place on phones/tablets. But it's a nice game that looks great and I hope the sales are good enough to warrant a second a Paper Monsters 3D where they can implement the lessons learned in mobile game development. And maybe it's short, but it's also fairly priced and it's better to have a good short game than a bad long one.

The best game iv played this year, top notch graphics and gameplay, reminds me of little big planet but instead of being material its paper and card, really enjoyable game with different game types, for a side scrolling game with the different game variations in my opinion sets its self apart from other games of its type and raises the bar, the only negative id say is i wish there were more costumes to buy, hopefully the game devs will address this soon, apart from that its a top game. 4.5 stars

I love this game! Every level is different, the animation is beautiful, I have no problems with lagging or closing itself, the ads only pop up inbetween levels so you're not interrupted when playing, it's not hasty for a rating - I was actually able to complete the game before rating it, the levels are not difficult, just super fun - however I found that the last worlds difficulty was extreme compared to the first 3, but very great :) love love love it, glad a free version is avail. It reminds me allot of little big planet on ps3 and that's a good thing only thing it's missing is multi player online if it had that me and my wife would both purchase a ad free version no doubt thanks to the developers for such a great and refreshing android game

I love this game,but there needs to be a better version made. It reminds me of mario games in many ways. The game that is a mini game is silly. You can't control where you go...you either jump and hope you make it or die. It goes at full speed and you can't slow down. I really do enjoy playing it though. It's contagious!

Short as it is the free version only but as a game designer myself I have to say this is a very nice game. Graphics, gameplay and controls are all very well done and the developers of this should be proud of themselves. I would have included a share (Facebook and twitter) option and a way to turn the music and sound effects on/off seperatly within the game but apart from that there is not a thing wrong with this game.

Maybe its because i dont play alot of games on phones but i could not get my box guy to consistently jump...sometimes he'd jump when i tapped the screen and sometimes he would jus walk forward/backward or do nothing. I tried both the joystick mode and the directional pad mode could not get guy to consistently jump with either controls...😳It seems like a good game with cute graphics but with the buggy controls i could not really play. - - On TMobile LG G Stylo

Paper Monsters! is a fantastic, original platformer and it really sets the bar here on the Google Play store. On my Nexus 5 it is extremely smooth and responsive and the fact that it is now free makes it even better! Highly reccomended, but only if you have a lot of time on your hands because this game is addicting!

I actually enjoy this game a lot. Although the buttons are sometimes a little unresponsive (like most games played on glass), it's certainly cute. My main problem here is there doesn't appear to be a way to back up the game in case of phone problems/upgrades. I need to wipe phone which means I'll wipe my many hours of game play and I can't fathom starting again from scratch... So you've a big advocate. Loss of 2 stars for this (would upgrade by 2 if added). Thanks

My definition of a virtual joystick is that you can tap and drag from pretty much anywhere from the proper side (not all games put on the left) and be able to move. Apparently, this has a few issues. I'm having a hard time getting past the very beginning of 1-3 just cause of that issue. I keep trying to jump on top of the flying enemy above the moving platform. Instead, I jump straight up without moving in any other direction, then die cause the platform is out from beneath me. Devs, if you fix the problem, just know I'm not changing this review until either I beat the game or encounter another issue that prevents me from continuing. But until the next update, uninstalled.

I'm sorry, but considering I'm on a Sony Xperia Z1s with a 2.2 ghz quad core snapdragon processor, and 2GBs of RAM, this game should not have little hiccups where it freezes or sticks. The power it has, it should run practically anything thrown at it, and flawlessly.

I get you're trying to make it look 4d, but I can hardly see. Also, its really tough, I like tough games, but not this kind of tough. This kind of tough is not jumping high enough. I don't like that. Its kinda glitchy.

Add a update where we can use defeated bosses on our content. Please reply. I defeated the giant squid, little red, and the cowboy spider.

Not actually challenging at all, not even entertaining. And the hitboxes are so terrible it's unbelievable. I quit playing on the third level of the last set because of this.

This game is really, really fun, but can you make more chapters? The game is pretty short. And can you make the cloths a little cheaper? One of the items is 50 buttons. Who has 50 buttons? Also, ads will pop up whenever I complete the levels in the adventure or somewhere else. Please remove these ads so I can play without accidentally clicking on a advertisement for a app. If you guys can add all of this, this will be the best game ever. This game is kinda like Little Big Planet, with the little people. :3

Controls are better on my phone then my tablet. The game is beautiful. As for gameplay, it's not bad. Decent game overall.

Love this game n find it hard to put down. I really love paper mario n this takes its place on the go.

Absolutely love it! Wish there were more games like it in the Play Store. The fact that it's free just makes it even better. Keep 'em coming guys! A sequel would be great 😊 I see some people complaining about it being slow but I haven't had any problems at all on my Galaxy Note II

This game has really good controls, and is definitely the most fun platformer I've found on the store so far.

Nice game to pass time. My only recommendation is maybe being able to see the things you can buy on the character before you buy them. Other than that, good game.

Unbelievably cool little game. Could swear i was playing on an a proper gaming console for a second there. Really easy controls, unique characters and the game keeps you entertained for quite a while. Awesome for Mario fans ;)

But the controls are horrible. Allow buttons we can move to make it larger device friendly.

Got this for my tablet and phone and just the other day I bought Paper Monsters Recut for my Wii U when it was only $3.99 over on the Nintendo E-Shop, so now I can experience the game across many devices.
