I used to love this app. Now it"s HORRIBLE! Only allowing me to add time up to the next new hour -- meaning that for instance if it's 3:35 in the afternoon it will only allow me to park until 4!! What in the world is up with that? Tiny slider to select parking time is way too small and finicky, even if it did work correctly! VERY upsetting!
You will get parking tickets with this app. There is apparently a major gap between when you use the app and how parking enforcement can see that you've paid. You can fight them online and Boston even has a whole dispute category for ParkBoston discrepancies. It's ok when it works but if you rely on this just realize you will likely have to dispute tickets.
This app and other apps developed by PassportParking inc. request way too many permissions up front. Why are they requested up front and not when they needed during the operation of the app as most apps do? This happens when the app is compiled with an older SDK. Why isn't the app updated yet? Why does it require profile information and direct access to the phone and network connections? Why does it need the device ID? These are very unusual permissions for an app that simply allows users to enter a parking zone and pay for a parking session.
It'd be great if meter maids actually checked it, but it was a rude surprise coming back to a parking ticket after paying through the app, long before my paid time expired. Guess I'll have to continue keeping quarters in the car, after all...
The app is generally slow and not intuitive. The slider bar to set the timer is very finicky to set a specific number of minutes, and the time of day markings are poorly labeled.
So, I paid for 2 hours of parking from the app. When I went to add more time they said it was blocked time and I had to run all the way back to the car from my meeting and add it with my card on the meter. I wish I was aware this area did this ahead of time I would have planned accordingly. I was able to add more time but still do not know how long the blocked time was in place for.
Perfect in every way! So convenient! Although I wish for the opportunity to park fir a longer duration I totally understand. I like how it saves your zones and as long as your card is in its a done deal 2 seconds and you're parked! Love this app!!
Poor rendering with larger font size. Buttons are missing, impossible to complete the flow of reserving a space without changing your phone's display settings.
You know how much you love to sign up for a new app, give them all your info, register a credit card, put in you car info, find what area you're in, and pay twice as much. Yeah me either, zero stars for replacing a quarter with a new way to waste my time and money.
I know its not the app's fault or anything, I just really wish ParkBoston would really let you extend your time at a meter. So frustrating that it teases you like that, ya know. And for that ... I could only award The ParkBoston App 4 stars. Good stuff though. Keep on rawkin' it!
As an out-of-town visitor, the signage is a bit tricky. Exceptions about where and when you can park seems a little elusive; however, the app is easy to navigate.
This app is very convenient. Love how it simplifies parking even if by just a little. In my case, its a big deal. They've made the UI simple and easy to use.
Just got a parking ticket for being 5 min late .. North End of Boston weekend shopping has long wait times and app would not let me add time due to 2 hour max. This app is clearly tied into meter maid patrol allowing them to pounce as soon as time is up. I'll use cash next time.
I bought a ParkBoston prepaid account. Loaded $20 onto it. It doesn't show up as a form of payment when I try to pay. I can't access it. The $20 is just sitting there.
Stuck in a loop where I cannot pay because it doesn't recognize I already have a balance, nor does it recognize that I have already entered my credit card. So basically it's useless.
On pixel 4xl, there is no login/verify button when you log in with your phone number, so you can't log in On iphone, there is a verify button. What a clown show.
Charges a $0.40 surcharge just to use the application no matter what amount of time you're using. Also I noticed that it doesn't work in Somerville or Everett
Unable to extend time. App gives you some BS notification like check signage in area. Had i known i needed to physically go out every 2hrs to add time I probably would've just parked in a garage
Got a ticket despite paying through the app and being well within the time window for the parking spot. I'd give zero if that was an option...
Every time I use the app I have to reset my pin and readd my card. While every other app I set up once and continue to use. Never entering a pin or resetting. Like I get I should remember a pin and all, but there has to be another way
Very easy to use and convenient. Saves a lot of headaches, specially with the timer showing exactly how much time is left.
a necessary evil, but uses a freaking car horn as it's default notification sound! very disconcerting when you're pulling out of your parking spot and horns start blaring!
This is the worst parking app in use in the area. The SMS plus PIN plus password plus user name are supposedly secure. The PIN reset is silly. If it was properly secured it would not need so much security theater.
I downloaded the app, paid for parking, and got the confirmation. I received a parking ticket anyway. Now, I have to go through the process of fighting it and getting in dismissed.
Can't pay ahead of schedules once parked. 180 minute lockout per zone even if you parked 15 minutes. If I had to guess, programmed to make the municipality as much money as possible via extra parking tickets.
What's the point of paying a convenience fee when it doesn't allow me to add time anyway. Wouldn't let me add time to meter and got a ticket.
All too often I pay for my time, only to find I am shorted by a full minute or more. For example I recently paid for 1 hour 12 minutes of parking, $2.50 + a $0.30 convenience fee. When my timer started however I had only 1 hour 10 minutes and 40 seconds or so. Over time this adds up pretty quickly. A minute and 20 seconds or so with each parking space and in 30 days you've lost a full 40 minutes of parking time.
