Patch - Local News

App does not work. I installed it, but it died first thing. It asks for your location, and it correctly found my zip code when I gave it location permission, and then that was the end. White screen, nothing to click. No functionality. It wouldn't let me log in with my Google account because it needs your location first, but it won't respond in the screen where you enter location. So, I immediately uninstalled it.

Very frustrating to use. Push notifications for an article often do not take you to the article, but rather to older articles. Pull down refresh does not bring you to the latest articles. Reply to article feature stops working. Uninstalling and reinstalling offers a temporary fix but then the problem recurs. Contacted Patch support several times, no response.

When the app opens from a notification, it takes you to the home screen but doesn't bring up the news story from the notification. Have to manually go to unread news to find the story that was showing up in the notifications drop down.

Too slow, this used to be a good app. Now it is too slow. You can't scroll down and read selected news items. It takes you back to the beggini g of the section. It is now an almost useless app. The app works better now. Loads well an is funtional. A good app.

I've tried to open the app for weeks now. All it does is buffer. You can't get passed enter zip code. Even if you try to skip it. Still does nothing

Great to get some local content, but the notification management needs to be fixed! I'm getting ~7-10 notifications per day even though the notifications for my community are toggled off.

Works very poorly and often makes it impossible to read featured articles, even those most recently posted. Extremely frustrating!

Was one star because the garbage can was missing for 2 months, but now the garbage can is back, so we're back to four stars.

I can appreciate local information, but this service gets really aggressive with notifications. I'm not convinced that an advertisement for handmade gifts qualifies as BREAKING NEWS. Turning off the notifications altogether makes for a more pleasant experience.

Push notification never opens to the story in the preview, and without a search engine, there's no way that I know of to find said story. Most articles listed are from at least 2-3 days ago, and refreshing doesn't seem to do anything. The articles themselves are useful, but the functionality is not there, and the UI very much needs to be updated.

Every back hit takes me back asasaaaaaalllllll the way back to the very first page. Then I have to navigate 20,000 pages back to where I was. Also, I prefer to use Google maps. It won't let me. I HAVE to use their substandard map system that simply does not work. All in all, this app does not connect me with anybody or anything other than raw frustration. I NEED community connection and this is a total failure. Total fail!

I used to get my news from a local newspaper's app. I got tired of clicking on an article and having scam ads appearing saying that I had won something and I couldn't clear it from my screen unless I closed the app. I accidently found Patch and I'm sure glad I did. Not only do they give restaurant inspection reports, they also tell what caused the demerits. The news stories are full of details.

Can no longer read stories, after downloading the app.

Doesn't work on my phone. Keeps shutting down won't connect with my Facebook account and repeatedly crashes. I will be installing.

The app Does Not Even Know When I downloaded the app and puts up annoying "reminder" to download IT AGAIN. It vibrates, moves around the screen, and, blocks what I am reading. The "news" articles are cute and local. Then a whole lot of ads for houses. Ads are poorly chosen. Repeated and boring.

Local, Regional, Expanding Outward Like Ripples, FREE. What's not to like about NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS? The VILLAGE CRIER ON THE WEB! YES. In 7 months I have changed my mind, broadening coverage is not working. My notifications list only 1 town, not regional and state. It was better before they began to overreach. Too much irrelevant filler and stale posts. An ad for a September event still running in November as a neighbor post. Amateurish.

This app blows up your phone with notifications, and not just news. Once you get started, you can't seem to stop them. They offer no option on there website to stop all notifications or cancel out. I have tried everything.

Terrible, terrible , terrible. Tried to install app. Wouldn't work. Uninstalled. Now every time I try to go to patch on my email I get sent back to this app which I can't install. Terrible! DON'T INSTALL. CANT GET RID OF IT.

I think patch local news app is great to have, they keep you up in a local news and more, not only that, they just keep you reading from story to story and I love that!! Keep up the great work I never have a problem with this app at all never have had a problem so I give it more than 5 stars. Let me tell you if I know that there's an issue going on I will go right into patch to find out what's happening in the neighborhood around town or others so I can always be up to date thank you so much!!!

Once or twice a day I got news update, it does not pop up often like some other apps. And it is good to get news only from my city. App operates well, UI is smooth and i liked color selection of the titles, nice development and design job.

Well I am new to Patch and honestly I do not recall how I came across any of their news articles. I am glad I did happen upon reading that first article on Patch because since doing so I have defiently been a regular reader in this application. I find the articles well written, very informative and relevant. It seems that they stay up to date on various things and community news as well. So that really helps me to stay informed on important information. I would actually like to have more article options because I find myself regularly reading any and all of their news articles that they offer in the application aside of course the article ads. I never read those at all because I have zero desire to do so..All in all I am pleasently surprised at how much I do enjoy reading their articles hence my reasoning for wanting more of a selection to choose from.. DEFIANTLY recommend this to everyone.. Great Application...!!!...🤗

Can't search for news articles. I click the news article from the Notification area, the app opens up, but the desired news item is no where to be found. Correct that issue,, and add a SEARCH feature, to make this app truly informative.

I don't like the interface at all. You can't switch between towns or find specific info. The crime and arrest updates do not exist and the same 3-4 articles are at the top for days at a time. Not happy and looking for another local news source.

News is pretty accurate for my area. The only thing that bothers me is there is like 5 different stories on the same subject. To me that is to much. Just update the original news story so we are reading updated news on the original article.

Great source for local news. one suggestion, allow the app to rotate. i use my tablet in sideways, if you will, and yours is my only app that doesnt allow orientation to rotate. thanks! keep up the good work!

It's a very nice app, but when it comes to posting on "talking to your neighbors - its horrible! I posted something and it took forever to post. It just keeps spinning and spinning and cannot see any other postings.

Love it! Keeps my family and i well informed on a daily basis about the most recent news.. perfect for on the go when you dont like watching news or have time to watch t.v.. it gets to the point of what is going on specially because you can see what's happening in your area and around the other parts of the country if that's what you want..

I just downloaded the apps so I can not give a fair review. Do like you can select multiple towns where you live. My current home town is not on the Patch list. There should be multiple towns on Patch for Central Florida Orlando. Fort Collins, Co. did not find. You have many multiple towns for Central Florida Tampa, Atlanta, Chicago, Phildelphia. What is the purpose of Patch Community, etc. Some communties have rules for social media which excludes many posts. So far I am very impressed.

if your town is not in list it doesn't work. I put in zip code, nothing. When I started typing my town, the search list disappeared and the app would go no further. I uninstalled after that.

It is great to get local news or other surrounding areas that you might not get reading your local newspapers. Kudos for the staff at patch for bringing all of these resources together into one easy to use app
