Excels in simplicity but still manages to offer the depth of mastery. Quick and easy to learn, but beating all difficulties, mastering and upping high scores has given me several tens of hours of content, far more than what I expected from a free game that allows buying help but doesn't require it. Humorous narration and a classic role playing story pull it all together nicely. For the dev: I would prefer a simple donation button over buying redos and resurrections.
It's a nice, well made game, don't get me wrong. It'd be fun for someone who likes challenges but I prefer excitement and story. It just gets really repetitive, especially as the modes are mostly the same except for your character (from what I've seen). I can play just by skimming the text, and for a text-only game that's a problem since text is the whole focus. It also gets annoying when most of my equipment and items (which make or break a run) are rnged and I have to get lucky to proceed.
Overall, fun game. The only issue is that much of the story and dialogue is repetitive. While it is a rogue-like text based game, more variety in the story would be nice, especially when you get repeat dialogue and choices so quickly. Also, maybe some artwork. It's a text based game but add some color. Its put together very well, tho. Nice interface and very simple to play and navigate. Also... no ads and the dev doesn't beg for money like most free mobile games. I recommend it and play often.
Great game. Took me a while to find a game like this! Really good job with the randomization of events! Great work! The only reason I did 4 instead of 5 was two things. Some situations repeat often, and the story line is the same so far for the next level I played. The second thing which would help the first one as well is I wish there was some sort of "add your own items" option where you can create (name and choose stats) your own items and add them to the list of stuff you come across.
A good and fun game, the only micro transaction being one to continue a game when you die. The randomization is fun, but once you play through about 5 times you've probably seen every encounter so that dampens the replay value a bit. The fact that the plot is always the same also feels a little lackluster. But the game is very well made, very pretty, and it's fun if you don't mind a little repetition. Lack of micro transactions being pushed on you is a definite bonus.
Fun text game with a clean UI. I've made it warrior and unfortunately most of the dialogue is the same or similar to rouge that pure wondering what's the point. The difficulty of the game is a little harder than what I would prefer. Mostly because when I get to the castle I feel like I don't have enough items to fight a boss. It would be nice if resurrection (or at least undos) can be done by watching ads, imo I wouldn't mind that.
The concept is great, there are strategies that can be used to win this game, and ultimately, it's based on luck. Most if not all game objects and comcepts are explored by the time you finished the first difficulty, and there is no motivaton for me to go any further. It's a cool concept, download it, but it only gets more frustrating, and not fun as you progress. Tr;dl: One time use, luck based game, nice concept but not a keeper.
People keep saying this game is very hard. I just think they dont understand the dynamics of the game. Yes it's very luck oriented but it provides replay value, no two runs are alike. The game is difficult but there are ways around it you don't always need to fight or explore you can keep going. It's all about picking your battles and what items to take. Great game only thing I'd like to see is better diversity within the story.
well made for a free game, I especially enjoy the unpredictable outcome and playthrough for each session. It is very difficult and I am at the point where I mostly just click through the options because the diologe remains the same through the different encounters. My only complaint would be that there isnt enough variety to the investigations and ways to get items. maybe adding new items and encounters would spice it up a bit and encourage players to replay the game with each type of class.
The game is easy to lose, and repetitive to play. It's also a very fun resource-management system that scratches an itch that old-school CRPGs used to scratch, with none of the terrible pixel art. I've seen people complain that it's hard, but it just takes some time and experience in the game to get used to its rhythms. I've beaten it four times, and even losing was still fun.
Enjoyable game. Currently made it through all the difficulty levels to Thief (very hard), true to description, they do get progressively harder. Probably the major detractor for the game is the RNG of it, there is very little skill involved in having a good run. Admittedly some skill is involved in knowing when to keep pushing into a dungeon, and what things to pass on. What would be interesting would be an aspect of choice involved, when you open a treasure chest for example, and instead of just getting say a 'Torch' and a 'Pickaxe', it would give you an extra item or two along with those, and you would be able to pick two items. It would allow you some control over the build as you progress along the path, rather than just relying on dumb luck to get the items you need to have a good run. What would also be interesting would be the option to do longer runs, maybe after reaching a certain difficulty, marathon mode (and other modes) could be unlocked, making the path 150 days instead of 50 or something like that. Of course you'd need to make later monsters more difficult to compensate for how buffed you'd get the further along the path you went.
I like this game alot. However, some things dissapoint. The game is supposed to be set sometime in the past, yet you often find modern references....like flip-flops, popping up throughout. Also, the story-telling often switches between 1st person and third person for no apparent reason. Lastly, there are alot of repeat events....like....all of them. This doesent bother me too much as I understand it is the style of this game. Even with these small gripes, I would still recommend trying it out.
Its thrilling to play the first time, but after few tries you start to hate it. It all depends on chance, if you get the right item at the right time f9, or not its just too hard. And after you finish the " easy" path, the others are not even different story but the same with different stat, and same amount of insane difficulty. Its not a easy choice novel, but a heavily balanced strategy game with a need for a lot of luck.
The game is your bare bones text based game like "Choose Your Own Adventure". What it lacks in graphics it makes up for in a mini story with each levels not intersecting one another in lore. The game is basic for the most part and the same traps are used often in dungeons. The writing is somewhat silly, which is not to my personal preference. The game does nothing to enhance the experience, but is better than most others where the full story will be locked behind a paywall.
Overall it is a fun quick experience, it gets really hard at assassin level and I have been stuck there. I feel like this level is just RNG and really doesn't take any additional skill compared to the previous, it's just trying to use as little resources as possible while staying alive so that you save everything you can for the end. I wish each character class had a different feel and playstyle instead of they are more difficult because you need to get more lucky.
Great game but very difficult, haven't managed to get past the "easy" boss yet! However, it does feel like I just need one good run and I'll manage it. Very good and enjoyable considering it's free and I really like that there's the option of resurrection for those that want it rather than intrusive ads or some other means of monetization that would impact gameplay. Looking forward to even more content/variation in the events but for now I'm enjoying it as it is.
I think the game is great. Reminds me of Dungeons and Dragon but with single player campaign, which is why I highly rated this game. However, I think it should add other features to the game, such as, certain background music to the environment (battle, traveling, tavern, etc.), and miscellaneous sound effect (stumbling on a rock, spell sound effects, any actions, etc.). Another is displaying a picture of the creature or whatever the player is fighting with. Overall, great game if ur into DND.
Definitely a solid base for a good game. Too random at times as in your in a desert then in a swamp and all over the place. Unless you have an empty slot before finding equipment, you cannot pick up if you discard current equipment (big let down). I think a more structured adventure would be awesome in this, that's why I think the base game is good. Just a little too random and short (writing) for my liking.
I think it has potential, i'd suggest putting the word demo or free trial somewhere other than the detailed description (like maybe the title) seeing as to how people usuually only look at the title and short description an it can be easily overlooked, ill be sure to buy the full version when i have the money to. Other than that this seems like a great game and I look forward to the full version.
It's a good game. Not great but still enjoyable. The challenge increases with each character. I was hoping for a legacy aspect where each gameplay makes it slightly easier the next time. Alas, this was not the case. As a result you are largely dependent on luck to get the right combination of equipment each game. Is a game I'll play periodically but will probably never beat.
Rewarding, if you have a lot of patience! It is indeed very hard, but it was great to finish the "easy" level. It did feel disappointing to open up the second character, warrior, only to play the same adventure. I'd love to see more items or more NPCs unlocked with the characters, even if it's just flavor text or relabeling!
Great game that could be even better with more content. The dialogues start repeating themselves during your first or second run. Pretty fun though, you'll have a different experience each time. Easy to understand mechanics and choices. To the dev, please make some more content... and make it only a chance that the river steals an item, or maybe have it do other things. Thanks for your good work.
Really cool concept, fun gameplay, but not enough randomization. It is awesome to play through it the first time, discovering and experiencing the story, but once you're on your second or third playthrough after beating the game it loses its novelty. Spoilers ahead. When you enter a dungeon it feels like there's about four events that can occur: spiders, snakes, darkness or fighting. Repeat this a few times and It gets boring! We need more randomization to keep the story fresh
Download this to kill time while waiting for my wife to finish trying on new clothes at the clothes shop. Didn't expect to like it as much as I do. It's not a typical text adventure, more of a choose your own path type of deal, but the game mechanics like fighting and shopping and what not are all very well thought out. It's really funny too. *Spoiler alert* I keep running into a hobo who loves showing off his pube collection. It creases me up every time.
