Long time subscriber too. Right now, I can log in but cannot read the magazine. I am prompted to buy it or get an "unexpected error." I often had issues with the previous version. It is not clear to me that the content is worth the price and the hassle of the apps.
Won't let me download. Can only read current issue, anything else wants me to buy issue or subscribe, and then gives "unexpected error". Been a PC mag subscriber since very first isse. just got notice to renew in September. So I know I have an account and subscription...
I cannot restore my current subscription purchased thru Google Play. I spent hours trying to resolve the problem. It says inside the app if I have a paid subscription that was purchased from Google play I can restore. Well I tried many times and it will not.
Since update to Android 10 this app does not work. I'm paying for a subscription that I can't access. Can i give this less than 1 star?
Is there any support for this app??? It does not recognize my account number. I do not have any problems when using the pc on the PC World website.
Doesn't work, won't let me see my mag that I paid for. Zino works better.
Unexpected error - - expect no renewal
Although I have paid several months, I have yet to receive an issue.
Bring the dark mood
They just updated the app and it does not recognize my account anymore. This happened the last time they updated it several years ago. It's ironic that a tech magazine can't use reliable software, although to be honest, it IS reliably buggy.
The content is fine when it actually loads. Brand new phone, great data plan, and yet it takes like 5 minutes to load the magazine. It'd be nicer if I could just download the articles directly to my phone instead of having to view them in a very slow app.
Will not allow me to access my account. Worthless unless I an access the magazines. Back to Zinio it works.
This app is horrible. Does not load
I haven't had issues with the app like most users have, however the content quality seems to have been slacking after having been a reader for the past 3 years. Most if the magazine is IOT focused, with very few articles helpful to PC users. The size and numbers of articles has decreased imensly, (I downloaded an older magazine version for comparison) and it's nearly a fourth of the size of older magazines with articles significantly smaller, with less relevant information. I'd recommend maximum pc instead
To those having problems with the new app, I have discovered that the old one doesn't update and can't open the September issue. I have a Galaxy Tab A. Delete the app, and go to the Play Store to re-install. You will get the new app which works as they said it would. For a company dealing with IT matters, they stink at it. I have had trouble with the app since day one of the digital only publication and far too many emails to customer service. I don't care about gaming, so I share the feelings of others that the publication has less interesting, but it still has value to me.
I have been a subscriber for decades. The problem started with the digital edition from the start and has been a problem ever since. Today, it took several minutes to start the app, and then it never opened the magazine I already downloaded, just a circle going around on a black background forever. The other issue is, even though I've been a subscriber continuously since before the digital editions started, it is now showing that from about a year ago and beyond I have to pay $6.95 to read issues that I already played for! For a computer magazine to have such a terrible app plus incompetent accounting practices is incomprehensible. Do not download this app and do not subscriber to PC World Magazine!
This app works like a champ on my Motorola XYBoard tablet. A perfect way to read this magazine. The images are crisp, sharp, and easy to read. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. The install was easy and flawless. UPDATE: After some wizbang updated this "NEW" app, it stopped working correctly. Why did they touch a working app? Now I have to change my rating to a 1 star. It doesn't work!
Does not go to the menu to let you see most current issue...stuck on old issue
Used to be ok but even with a paid subscription it stopped working months ago and wont download issues any more.
Paid for issues but can't get them in the app. Total waste of time and money! Don't buy a subscription!
Just sits and spins. Won't load content. This is disgraceful for a PC magazine.
Finally fixed the download MIB problem. Thank you
Worked fine till marshmello upgrade. Now it downloads 90% of magazine and get mib decompression failed. The app worked with 5.1.1 but not 6.0. Another said he had issues with a game magazine and pcworld digital magazine with 6.0 He contacted the game magazine and they fixed the app to work with 6.0. He contacted pcworld and has heard nothing. It also works fine with my iPad mini. Just the nexus seven (2) I'm having problems
App is not optimized for phones or tablets. It's a pdf image of printed magazine. One must zoom and manually pan to make the print large enough. They should hire the people who make the app for the New York times or other magazines where the text and images scale to match the device. Good content, very poor app.
There is something terribly wrong with this PC World app! I can download the September issue and it goes from article to article but greyed out and no scrolling available. I can only read the opening of any article and it looks horrible on my HD screen. I'm in huge agreement with those wanting to give this a negative rating! What happened? I used to could enjoy the magazine.. n I want my print copy back. Fix it ASAP or I want a refund for a year's worth of subscription. I deleted the app, restarted the tablet and re-downloaded the app from the Google store and still can't get my magazine to show up and be able to read it. Your count down has begun! Not such Warm Regards, Gwen Beck
PC World, you need to immediately fix this app so that we can access our account. Last issue I was able to access/download was August. If the intent is not to shut down PCW, you're nevertheless driving away loyal subscribers.
I am a long-time subscriber. This update will not allow me to sign in. I can enter my email address, but the app insists on having my account number, the only catch is that there is no place on the login screen to enter it! I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times without success. My Android version is 5.1.1 and the play store says it may not be optimized, but that is an understatement.
