App used to be free, then they changed it to subscription only, but never told anyone, just stopped allowing access to articles. I sent an email inquiring why, thinking it was a bug, they never responded. Had to find out by reading an article from another local news outfit. No big loss, all their typo-filled news articles are also available (sans typos) from other local news outfit... for free. And the app didnt work many times anyway, not worth the subscription cost.

I used to love it but right now, when I click on an article to read, the background is all black and the letters are grey. This just happened the last 2 days. Uninstalled app and installed app to see if that would correct the problem but it did not. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.

I used to love this app, but I am having same issue as has already been reported by others. I can see headline of each story, but when I tap to open and read content, the text appears with black background and letters are jumbled blue and gray text.

When you click a headline, something is wrong when the article opens. The background is black, the letters are gray and overlap one another. You can't read anything. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but the problem is still there.

Let's be honest, the app itself was never anything great. That said, I did read it daily for local news, but now that they're charging $10/month...BYE! It's a shame, PennLive; you could have been more creative with advertising or by offering premium services to paid subscribers. With the new outrageous monthly subscription fee, you've alienated your entire customer base and they'll probably all be gone in no time at all! I just installed the CBS21 app... it's actually very nice... and free!

I am annoyed that every time I try to read an article I am asked to pay for a digital subscription and when I opt not to, I am taken back to the home screen. I used this app many times per day but now I will be uninstalling the app and getting my news from other sources.

I used to love this app-not anymore. I can read headlines but when I tap to read the article it is blacked out with some words in blue. Please fix this ASAP! I miss reading!

PennLive the news source is 1st rate. PennLive the app is terrible, and multiple notifications haven't resulted in improvement. Crashes every time I try to share an article and on other occasions too.

Can't read obits for months, can't see the weather, both are linked to error pages The only thing you can see reliably are articles that you can't read, because you won't pay $100/yr for "exclusive" access to their failure of a media organization. The absolute worst.

Just deleted this app. Constant pop ups to subscribe became too anyoing when clicking on an article. There are other resources to get info. May subscribe if ads are eliminated.

Ads with no visible way back to page. Always asking for login even between articles. The cancel anytime can't be found. Not worth the trouble.

When I try to sign in with my subscription the app says "Can't load the log-in box, check your internet connection." I've re-installed 3 times now. My internet is fine.

Fix this app! I cant read the stories. Background is all black and the letters run together. Ive deleted it and reloaded it three times, no fix!

5 minutes after downloading i am already deleting this junk . whoever is building this app needs a better understanding of when advertising is over the top pushing people away and a comfortable balance . this was just crazy over the top jamming advertising down your throat. kick rocks

little to no content. list articles. Aren't articles, their links to open website now, articles formatting is bad in app with black box over everything

wish I could give it a no star rating but will get the lowest for charging you $10 just use the app, not worth it especially since the app is free to begin with and yet the have ads as well, all they seeing is greed and green now

Can't read stories with out Pennlive Renewal notifications popping up. Keep uninstalling app and reinstalling to get news to work.

UPDATE: Still broken link to Obituaries. UPDATE: Obituaries are broke again. Ability to read obituaries still not functioning after many months. How hard is it to fix a link?

I can't read the articles, black screen. I downloaded the app numerous times and didn't fix the problem

Can't get it to work o my Samsung tablet. I can see the headlines, but it won't let me see the story. It shows I'm logged in and I have a subscription.

Now you need to pay $10 per month to read anything? Maybe you should look a little closer at your business model. Advertising should be footing expenses not your readers. Perhaps ask the local TV or radio stations how to do this?

I am having trouble reading the news articles because they are in black and somewhat scrambled. please fix this problem.

As for the first time me using it i like it all and things like that. But i need to see how to used it more easier and safer, could make it much easier to log in to and for me to see what im doing when i see how to use it and make it a Lotta more easier for me to learn how to actually use it.

I'm disappointed that you now have to pay to read news on the app. I will continue to utilize the website until they start charging for that.
