it is a great app, doesn't use sms to communicate. I'm giving it only four stars because it's having issues. this last update broke the messaging feature, which was all i used it for. It displays it got a message, and i can confirm that one was sent with the person I'm talking to, but the app doesn't show the message when I open it. i hope they fix this soon.
This app is good, but when I talk to my friend via the chat, it seems like pretty often we don't receive each other's messages until a few hours later. When that happens, the old messages come in back in the old timestamp back where they would have been had they been received in time. This app is everything I want in a chat client except for that bug and if that were fixed I would go up to 5 stars.
If you press home it auto closes out of the recently opened apps section. It even happens when you turn off your phone. You can only change the settings and access the secret zone when you type in a password that you create. There is also a image censor thing that sets a limit on what can be seen. It doesn't save anything but the secret words (password) and your settings. To access the secret zone you have to serch your password.
Neat app, except for two things: it shuts itself down when you navigate away from it. I realize that this is mostly a desired feature, except for when you want to login to your social media accounts (LinkedIn, etc). Those apps now detect an inconsistent login attempt, and email you a code that you have to enter.... But if you open you email app to get the code, phantom.me closes itself, and the code is invalidated. And you can't split-screen it, b/c this app doesn't suppprt that either.
I don't know whether I love or hate this app. Pros: it's a free and ad-free proxy browser (excellent if you live in a country where censorship is a problem); your activity just disappears as soon as you minimize the app, and you can password-protect it; it supports webapps. Cons: Not configurable, no tabs, you should have the option to resume browsing after you minimize and return to the app, a built-in ad blocker supporting adblock compatible filter lists would be excellent.
it is a amazing app and i love everything about it, but the last update has made it to where me and my chat buddys cants talk. we get the notifacation of you got a message, but we cant see what it is. we have all uninstalled and installes the app many time but it is the same thing over and over again. if you could maybe fix it that would be amazing! i dont get to see them often so this would really mean a lot if you could fix it.
Took me 15 minutes and 3 reinstalls to make it work. I ended up googling their web side where they have an totorial. I am in love with it now. But it took forever to figure out. The "app" you hit first time, only exists untill you enter it the first time. No regrets. It is reinstall if your screen locks or alike. But when the master password is set, you are ready to go. So all ya mad heads. Open the web page, phantom.me and find the totorial. (Wich would be a good idea to have in the description to avoid bad rep from people not able to open the browser)
i would have given this app 5 stars, no problem, if it werent for the fact that the chat function was removed without any notice. this means i need to manually backup my storage, uninstall updated version, and the. reinstall an old version, and import the entire storage again. i use this app for privacy when talking with friends, and with absolutely zero notice, the reason i evem GOT the app in the first place has just simply been removed. the app is wonderful. but that was a deal breaker.
I am possessed of a pretty decent vocabulary, but I cannot put into words the ease and efficacy of this app. Absolutely a peasure; privacy and efficiency with quickly achieved results. If there is anything more to be asked of an app, I'm afraid I can't think of it. Many thanks Developers!
Liked it...but there is one bit of feedback. Don't have the random chat thing. If You want this to truly be a 5 star app, have it connect to (and search for) your phone contacts. This way you can make a call/text to those numbers and not show up as yourself. This really has potential in the line of PI/Privatized Security. Other than that, I enjoyed it thoroughly.
I highly liked the dial up version... In my opinion it was more inconspicuous and just over all a really cool idea. when I first download it first impression was wicked that is just a bada** idea; as for when I when about getting a new cellular device and downloaded it one again I thought too myself why is it even called phantom me if the app appears an is accessible by simply breaching a little code
"oops something went wrong. please try again later." then force close. 3* rating only indicates neutral opinion until issue has been addressed via email request sent. Thanx for fixing issue. I would like to know how activating the proxy will affect the performance of current apps and games already installed? Recently had issues with security suite Safe Browsing featuring VPN activation.
Phantom.me is really incredible.. i give it a 4 star, ask why? i luv its secure vault, but i really dont know why its browser consumes alot of data. And another thing, you cannot assure me full privacy without the browser having advanced ad-blocker, anti-tracking, multiple shared proxies. Its great but include strong ad blocker, anti-tracking, javascript on/off switch & screen shot protection, DNS resolver if possible.. these are the great tools for privacy lacking
I was just saying a few years ago how we need more better security oriented apps for certain things, to a friend working with Open Source. This is exactly what I was talking about. I love this app a lot. There is however one thing that bugs me right now. When I use one of the web apps in it, it progressively gets very slow and eventually stops responding. Also most of the apps I can use don't seem to choose mobile site by default, which in my opinion would fix the problem I run across. Besides that everything JUST works and gives me a feeling of satisfaction just like Linux on a PC does when I use security centric apps that help me ghost myself from existence. To me, if it's private it's security centric, because my data is more protected. Thanks for this great and useful app that I really needed. Now I feel safer on my Android as well as my Gentoo Linux desktop. Maybe I'll write a little something to allow it to work on my desktop just for fun, that is if you don't mind.
I love this app! It is user friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and the darkened background is very easy on the eyes. You can also change the settings to do lots of other great stuff! AWESOME! You've gotta try it. I'm a Yelper so I always try to find the best apps before I recomnend them.
Well, when I had this app on my Samsung s7 edge, it was great. I loved the part about dialing a phone number. But now that I am on a Note 9 it only gives me an option to put a pattern lock and not even hide the icon. Please put the dialing app feature in for Samsung Note 9s and I'll change it to a 5 star review.
Great secure private browser. One major ender though : can't pinch zoom pages or double tap to zoom or auto fit sites to mobile screen so most sites are unusable. They load like it's a desktop or laptop.
Great app but constantly breaks. I keep loading up the app the second time after a fresh install and it crashes due to this it is much worse. This app is goos but currently broken. Re: They patched this support was helpful
After last update i can no longer access my web apps. And when i go to the web apps tab keeps saying no suggested apps. Getting a tad frustrated. uninstall the app reinstalled the app and now it keeps crashing and not opening. will not pass the proxy log on page.😡. gonna uninstall the app...
I can't seem to save a different icon for this app. The app will let me select a new icon and rename it, but won't scroll to view the preview and when I exit back to the main page my selection hasn't been saved. Please fix this problem! :)
Good app, faster than firing up tails or tor browser package, however theres no guarantee that they are keeping up with latest threats/exploits or vulnerabilities that may compromise your identity if you are paranoid, but if so you shouldnt be on your phone anyway. Best ihave come across on android and better than nothin!
The app is a good idea but really needs some changes to shine. The browser is far too basic, you can't even zoom in on web pages... The bookmark management system is lacklustre as you cannot edit the names of bookmarks or change their position. You cannot change from mobile to desktop versions of sites. Lastly there is no option security wise to use a second passcode instead of drawing a pattern. There are more things I could list but there's are the main ones. Please address these issues and I will update my review.
