Phase Rummy 2: card game with 10 phases

Phase Rummy is a variation of popular card game "Liverpool Rummy", similar to "Contract Rummy" or "Shanghai Rummy", with special cards and simplified rules.
The objective of the game is to be the first player to complete all 10 game phases with defined card sets. The rules are easy to learn and suitable for all ages.

A game phase is a combination of cards and can be composed of sets, runs, cards of one color, or combination of these.

'Runs' consist of 3 or more cards in numerical order. The cards do not have to be the same colors.

'Sets' consist of two or more cards of the same number. The cards do not have to be the same colors.

'Color Sets' consists of two or more cards of the same color.

Phase Rummy game play:
Players draw a card from either the deck or the top of the discard pile at the beginning of their turn. At the end of their turn, they must discard a single card.

Completing phases:
When you are able to fully meet the requirements of the phase, you may complete it. Additionally, you may play extra cards as you play the phase if they fit into the phase. For example, if you completed phase '2 sets of 3' you could play three 4’s and three 6’s. You could play additional fours or sixes as part of your sets, but you could not add a different set.

Hitting:
After making a phase, players may “hit” onto other phases in play. The cards you add to the completed phases must fit into the phase, and you can only hit after your own phase is in play.

Ending the round:
Players end the round by playing all of the cards from their hand. The player who goes out first wins the hand and scores points from the remaining cards of other players. Players who completed their phase move on to the next phase. Any players who were unable to complete their phase during the round must attempt to complete it again during the next round.

Points scoring system:
When the player has finished his phase, the counting of the card points begins. For each additional card the player gets points.
When a round is over, the points of unplayed cards of all players are all given to the winner.
If several players have laid the last phase, then the player with the most points wins.

Cards from 1-10 count 5 points each
11-12 cards count 10 points each
Skip-cards count 15 points each
Jokers count 25 points each

This game doesn't even make an effort of simulating strategy on the part of the bots. They will be working on a run of 7, for example, and pick multiples of the same number from the discard pile. And the next thing you know, they have completed their run. Meanwhile, I have drawn the same useless card over and over again. It's something to do, but could be alot better. The drag and drop is a drag. I think I'll drop this game. And certainly they have improved the in-game buying experience!

This is a lean implementation of the card game "phase 10", similar to a game my large extended family called "Funny Rummy". There is no "side story" - saving a mom & baby from freezing or starvation, for example. The interface is bare bones but quite intuitive and easy to use. I wish you could slow the game play down more than the interface allows. At the slowest rate it is still often impossible to tell whether players pick from the pile or deck, and what they discard. Not pretty, less junk.

If you want to play Phase 10, but don't like the leading apps that make you pay like crazy, this is a good second option. Low budget graphics and the controls, especially dragging cards, are not smooth at all. There are a FEW rules customization options, but the game does not play EXACTLY like Phase 10. That aside, it feels like you're playing something pretty dang close and you can alter the difficulty, so if you can get around the appearance and glitchy movement, it's a good alternative.

I love the game, I just wish there were more variation with the phases. I would like to see odds and evens being used in phases as well, and fewer phases of 6 or 7 of a kind. These 6+ of a kind are cool sometimes, but would be more fun with variations of odds and evens as well. If possible please add this! Otherwise great game! You don't have to use energy to play levels and ads are short! Thank you!

Lousy game play. During one round I was winning by the 5th draw, then 5 skip cards in a row by the computer were dropped on me. Needless to say I lost in less than 10 seconds. I don't mind losing but when a computer generated game can do that, I'm out. I"m not wasting my time to continue with this game when there should have been a better shot at winning and this game is clearly fixed. Don't bother telling me it's all about the challenge. Tapping OUT!

Game is RIGGED despite being the first to complete the phase and getting rid of all my cards I still finish the round with the highest score. I made it to phase 7 b4 any of the computer players made it past phase 1. Then all of a sudden they started to get unlimited skip cards and I couldn't get a single card to complete the next phase. and ended up losing the game. Happened 3 games in a row. Uninstalling now complete garbage.

Changing to 1 star. I already paid to get rid of ads, then they reset it to bring back ads and more than doubled the price to remove them (I originally paid 2.50, now costs $5.50). Wrote Dev to get it fixed, was told they couldn't. Was offered a refund, but then I'd still have to pay again to remove ads again - this time more than twice as much as I originally paid. BAD FORM, DEV. Deleting game.

Had great fun when I found it: ez settings, ez graphics, and only the offer of purchase options if you request it. Not part of game play. So, 4 stars cuz thats a big one. Quickly ran thru the 10 phases and then it just loops. 10 levels that are pretty easily attained does not make for extended play, so. As I think of it perhaps it could be passed on to the kids. In K - 1st grade maybe. Any older and they likely won't appreciate the simplicity that pulled me in.

A Decent game with limited ads which is amazing however, it seems that the AI is anti player. If i complete my phase and I'm on a lower phase then one of the other AI and they have their phase complete too, the player will be skipped EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. this is far from realistic and fair. The only reason I'm still playing the game is because it has room to grow and become better. If the AI was less anti player, this would be a 5 star rating.

Love the app. I will say however that it seems the computer player that feeds to me has literally never given me a card I needed🤔 Also, the instructions are confusing. At the beginning they state that if two player complete phase 10, then the person with the lowest points wins; however, it goes on to state that the object is toget more points and that the winner of a round also receives the points left in the opponent's hand. This is contradictory. Someone please explain.

If I could rate lower than a one I would. From theoment you download this game, you will be at a disadvantage. The AI will always start with the exact cards they need, You will always get skipped over any other plan (and at a frequency that raises eyebrows), you will draw the same card too many times for it to be called (random). I read the reviews and still decided to form my own opinion, mistakes were made. If you enjoy being frustrated and not having an equal chance, then you should download.

4.5 would be my actual. It's continuous play. You can actually win. I've even increased the difficulty. Just the 1/2 point off for the biased algorithms. Had 1 card left the NPCs skipped me 7 times.....seriously the odds of 7 Skips in hand or being drawn in a row 🤔....no way🤣

May 19, 2022 I don't like this game at all anymore. The game has become incredibly hard to win anymore. I don't know if it's because I bought the paid version or what but I'm extremely frustrated. What used to be fun has been ruined. I've been playing it for literally years but I'm uninstalling now. Very disappointed ☹️ April 8, 2022 I love this game! I lost it in my last phone switch and just found it again so I'm very happy!

I love this game. It is the same as Phase 10, just the scoring is different, where having a higher score is good. You can choose different modes, and unlike Rummy X, you do not have to play against 3 other people unless you want to. You can choose how many bots you play against. I also love another game from this company, Spite & Malice ( Skipbo ). You can also customize a little bit in this version of Phase 10 if you want, like, game play. It is one of my most played game!

Not bad, work can be done on the drag and drop option for the cards, I found it difficult to put the cards in order because of the way they lifted. bots ALWAYS block you, you can be blocked an entire round, other players will only be blocked if you are already blocked, they dont block bots with cards out to stop them from finishing the phase. I found that when I got ahead a few phases the computer won 3 hands in a row instantly to catch up. overall it's the same as phase 10 even same phases.

Game is not right. The scoring system is flawed. My score has been lower than the AI and it has said I won. Also, I have had the most points, and it said I lost. This needs fixed. WAY too many skip cards are given to the AI. I hardly get any in my hand. Update this game correcting these errors and I will give it more stars. Thank you.

Graphics could be better and its not always clear what card they take but overall i like it. Like that you can customize how many you play and skill level. Not pushed to buy stuff and not bombarded with ads.

This is a fun game, but the app seems to have preprogrammed numbers to be dealt. It isn't random like a real deck of cards. If I need a run for that hand, I'm usually dealt several pairs or triples in that hand. And for a set, pairs are seldom dealt. I would rather lose a hand according to my choices than have the app choose for me.

I have played this with my great grandson. I learned to love it after I figured out what I was doing. Love playing it on this app. Lots of fun and frustration when it seams to be picking on me. update.. Started acting up. Gave six 2's and three of another and kept giving me two's. IJan 2021. Still gives to many sets when i need a run and not enough for a set. Keeps giving same one over and over. Some improvement but still needs work

At first I really enjoyed playing this game, but sadly I have to edit my previous review. I've been continuously been losing game after game. The computer player has the better hand. I'm constantly get hit with the plus one card or the skip. Once I do complete my set, surprise, surprise the computer has the same cards as mine in their hand to place on mine to get rid of their cards to win

Used to be able to get a free joker daily now thats gone. Used to be able to watch add for one now that is gone. To top that off they have increased the ads and it makes you watch the whole thing. I understand monetizing an app but this isn't even an app that took loads of dev. If I am watching ads I want improvements and such plus a more smooth ui this is just plain, and the simplicity was why I liked it. Now with all the inundation of ads and nothing in return it is garbage and not relaxing.

Mel. Oct 19, 2020

I like the except for the program doesn't look for the lead player when it plays a skip. So it gets kind of hard to play when uou ate constantly getting hit by skip cards. If i want to stay in easy mode it won't do that. It also has one of the programs hands going out with 1st play

Pau. S. Aug 29, 2021

Typical for computer game several coincidences. When you're close to getting your set, or close to going out, all of a sudden all three other players managed to come up with several skip cards. Other than that the game is fun, and a great way to kill time

Keeps you thinking and relaxed at the same time. I love to play a bit each night before bed. Very well done visual graphics. Nice way to manually realign your cards. Difficulty level is easy to increase so you are always challenged.
