The new update is terrible: there is a lot of wasted space, simple operation like settings light colors take many more taps, and the forced hub update breaks compatibility with existing apps. So basically, with an expensive hardware product, a software update just removed functionality, reduced usability, and prevents rolling back. For those reading, try to block auto updates in the Play Store, and if that doesn't cut it, try getting the latest 3.x.x version from an APK mirroring site if you want to keep your Hue system usable.

Used to be great with the sleep timer, the latest update doesn't do that anymore, the routines switch on the lights on bright instead of fading, unusable now... Test your apps people! EDIT if I set up a routine to fade the lights down to switched off with the lights already low, the routine increases the luminosity of the lights instead of reducing it. Not quite the result expected.

Great app, got some issues to connect all my lights so I had to switch for the bluetooth one and updste them. Otherwise it's ok, but it lacks some features that other apps provide, and one thing that I'd love to see is the ability to keep the luminosity level when changing theme, so just changing the colors.

Abandonware. Basic functionality, like simple schedule to change light tones slowly throughout the day, locked behind the buggy mess of forgotten features that is "Hue Labs". Labs exists so they can half bake basic features and call it done, never to be fully released on the app. If you hate how easy it is to flick a switch for light, look no further. Now you can press a widget that will turn on the wrong brightness and colour that you need to dig through the app to fix! Every morning!

Don't waste your time. Hue used to be the best but they broke the entire system for no reason. Widgets are broken. The app signs you out whenever it feels like, and both autofill and Google sign-in don't work. Just don't waste your time with this junk. Update: geofencing is completely non-functional now, even though it originally worked fine. Widgets take multiple taps to actually work, and you have to delete and remake them to get them functioning again.

Please please add optional delays to events triggered by sensors. Also please add some basic info to assist users troubleshoot problems. A screen listing actions taken on the hub would be so useful to understand why a light turned on or off in setups with sensors and triggers from third party devices. Also a search function on EVERY screen that lists devices so thst locating them in a large setup is easier.

Last big update was focused on the UI/UX. Now it's time to implement new (but basic) features: bridge backup (in case it needs to be replaced so we don't have to set EVERYTHING up from scratch again), bulb replacement (easily replace a fused bulb without having to configure the new one again - room, entertainment areas + position, etc). The fact that these have never been implemented makes me think that developers don't use their own products.

Automatic scheduling is flawed when using back to back schedules. The end time of one and the start of the second one can't be the same, meaning you need a minute off in between. Also, controlling lights on and off does not always work via app. Need to toggle on and off several times to work sometimes, or even needs physically resetting light. Unimpressed with this product.

My one complaint is that while you can set the light to a timer with just your phone, there is no way to have that repeat every day. You have to set it to turn on and off each day you want it to. I know with a hub you can have this option, but when I only have 2 lights in a single (bed)room purchasing a hub JUST for that is ridiculous. Fixing the phone app to have a repeatable timer would make me give 5 stars. Otherwise, the lights DO work really well, and I'd still recommend them!

Very disappointed in the latest update. It's supposed to let me have two bridges on one account. I'm also missing some new scenes that were supposed to be available in latest version. This is on fully updated pixel 6 pro. Please fix!! 🙏 Edit - finally got the second bridge set up but now realizing I can't control all of my lights at once. I use scenes in zones that alter the lighting in the whole house - inside and out w one click of the scene. I lose because I'm a great Hue customer???

On the whole the app is very good, easy to use and the switching between hubs is now much simpler and easier to access but I still don't see why it can't handle multiple hubs in the background and just show all the available rooms and bulbs to the user . However the power loss recovery option which worked perfectly in the previous version now doesn't seem to work. Bulbs set to the power recovery option still come on full after a power cut even if they were off prior to the power outage.

Mostly good app. Would love to see way more themes, and the ability to create your own. App is somewhat unintuitive but get easier over time. Lacks some features (like programming your own rotating sequence of colors, adjusting brightness of a scene while it plays, modifying flame color, creating custom scenes, etc) that other apps with much less expensive equipment has. Happy for the progress, but excited for the future of the app.

The app is stable and pretty easy to use. There are many options to choose from. Only issue is with using a zone with HDMI SYNC BOX, I have been unable to sync more lights to the entertainment zone, after removing the new lights from the original zone they were in. I called hue support and still have not been able to find a way to make it work. Will update if I can resolve. UPDATE: just changed phones, it was really easy to recover all settings, back to normal in no time.

Hi, With my network of 65 bulbs, 8 switches, 2 plugs and 5 sensors, I am worried when the Bridge will RIP. A Backup-Restore function to quickly recover to a new Bridge is a great addition. A lot of work when all configuration and settings are gone. Also, via the App it is quite time consuming. Maybe a Windows based App to setup and manage all (incl. Backup/Restore) would be added value.

Claims to link with Alexa, but am unable due to error "We were unable to link Hue at this time. Please try again later." Been trying for almost a week now. Also, app does not feature "quick color" settings, instead just offering color swatches to set. It's nice to have options but when you're trying to sync colors, it gets frustrating having to be that precise.

This app is giving me errors, I have reinstall several times but it still not working properly. This happens because the lamps were installed by the previous owner of the house and I am afraid that if I reset all the lamps, something will go wrong. Also, I have tried to add a ceiling lamp to the app and I can't, when I have bought other two and I added them to the app without problems. Quite frustrating

Really frustrating, having just got a bridge and some ambiance bulbs I was assuming I could create a sequence or set of transitions to change the colour temperatures of the bulbs to mimic daylight, rendering to a cooler colour temp at night (Warner tone). I haven't found out how to do this yet and try as I might, can't find any sensible documentation on the Philips Web site. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I consider part of product development so be documenting your product. Very shoddy.

This used to be one of the best apps I used on a daily basis. Its simplicity and rich feature set made it an easy and effective app to use. Recently widgets are broken and buggy (I would have to switch the lights off first to change the light setup).

Please get rid of the ridiculous horizontal scrolling, it's very annoying on a portrait screen. On a tablet in portrait, click Hue Scene Gallery then pick a scene - there's no 'Done' or 'Add To My Scenes' button unless you swipe up on the picture... Latest Version *still* much slower than old app at turning on/off via a widget (I have old app on another device to compare).

Dav. D. Apr 20, 2022

This app has been turning into junk. Unable to select custom colors in automation since update. I previously had a timer for a plain red light to turn on in key areas so I could wake and prepare for work without disturbing the rest of the household. Now I only have a series of pre-selected color/reading/daylight tones that don't work for me at all. I just want my special ops lights back. Also, Hue Labs is worthless and the lame HTTP integration is awful Just embed it into the program natively.

Great app for controlling lights and accessories, only issue is that the sync with Spotify is a bit delayed. Update: The recent update has logged me out of Spotify (in the sync section) and isn't allowing me to log back in to my profile to sync the lights with music), went from a 4 star to 1 star because of this issue.

Bri. R. Mar 21, 2022

Terrible now, laggy, can't find lights.buttons are difficult to press, open random other options because the design is horrible. Used to work flawlessly. Layout is really bad, can't adjust all the lighting from one view. A total UX nightmare. If this is what we should come to expect from a Philips product I may never buy another.

Old app was way better. how long do we have to wait before we can customise times for lights to turn off with out having to set them to come on first. Surely that's a main use of smart lights. I want to be able to set my lights to turn off when I'm at work at a specific time not have to set up for them to turn on then straight of at sun rise

It's a fine app, had to switch to this one because you're team deleted the original however this lags a lot and you really need to fix the automation fading. Before/after fading begin/ends the light will turn to their default bright setting. It'll be 3 in the morning and my rooms will light up like a torch. Seriously needs to be fixed.
