I'm new in Philadelphia. This app has been a huge help to me, especially in coronavirus times... introducing me to the city in a way I can't now do on foot. Inquirer is a fine paper, and the app makes it accessible. BUT, the method for emailing yourself an article is wildly erratic! Most of the time, there is no way for me get the URL of an article to keep... HELP! Android 8.1 phone, Firefox browser.
Don't bother using this. It will only frustrate you. Considering that the Philadelphia Inquirer supplied my very first tablet for their then-new e-edition, this app hardly works on my new Samsung. Best to just click on the email the Inquirer sends out every morning. That works well on all my platforms. Deleting this app
It has gotten worse over the years. The current version crashes randomly and you can't zoom in very far. The inquirer needs to get some real professionals to design their app.
Clean navigation. A little slow on my slow device, not sure if it is the app, the wifi or the device. Explore is good. Have not tried search. Much better than the three previous apps.
Ads load fine, articles appear blank when you scroll down in it and words load whenever they want. Used to be better when it was free, now they're upping the costs even more. Not worth it. Gives articles in Spanish which I can't read or turn off.
Ive been a reader of both tbe Philly Inquirer and the DN. The Inquirer gives you a lot of local information and great world news but, what I really love is your sports section. The app provides you with so many articles from the writers I think are great. But theres a section for each team with curent news and up to tbe minute articles that are happening that day, you dont have to wait until the next day if your reading the paper. I still miss opening the paper but, you cant beat this app.
Good overall coverage of the city with National news from other nationally oriented papers and AP. Specialty writing on local scene, such as food and architecture are outstanding. Trend is showing more in depth and longer pieces that have not been seen for over a decade.
I think I got scammed by an email representing the Philadelphia inquirer. So I had to close credit card got fearful to use the app
Update recently. Now my wife and I cannot open app on either of our phones
Easy navigation and high quality stories. Would prefer dark mode, though, to save battery life on my phone.
Love the update of the app and the inquirer website. Sometimes the share button can be buggy, but still a good app. Supporting local news is so important now more than ever - subscribe!
it's a convenient way to check in on things in the region a few times a day. Could be more customizable, or maybe I haven't tried all the settings yet.
It's Thursday morning and all the articles are from Sunday. App refuses to refresh itself. Doesn't even load half the time. Find another news App.
Great content. App needs some work, though. Sticks sometimes and sections don't update or even show.
As a daily subscriber of the print paper I have to have my "Inky" on the road. This app is fantastic for keeping up with what matters as I'm traveling.
App crashes after approx 1min of use. Attempted to cleared cache and uninstall&reinstall with no improvement. Currently using a OnePlus 6T on Android 10 OS.
Unreliable. Really no excuse given readership interest to have an app developed this poorly. Constantly stalls and articles dont load.
Living on the West Coast, I use the app to keep up with major news in the Philly metro area. News and human interest are some of the key stories.
Just downloaded, attempted to use app, all screens display only the rotating "content downloading" circle. Useless.
a few weeks ago something happened where now when i scroll in an article all I get are all the ads. the content didn't show up, just huge chunks of white space
I find well written articles which offer option of further research, storing or forgetting about it helpful as well as satisfying my initial need taken to read the article.
Good, easy to use news app that has all the important Philly news stories and a ton of sports coverage. I love it!
none of the news articles load. i just see a looping loading icon. this is unacceptable since i have a paid subscription. please fix this.
In today's journalistic environment [less paper, more electronics] this app fills it's role informing the people. I feel it remains, "The Philadelphia Inquirer" ... one of the all-time greats in the daily newspaper business.
Works terrible with chromebook
Top local news app all the basic functions work well and I like how you can save stories
How does this app NOT work? Let me count the ways. First off, the app may open . . . or it may not. Hard to tell why; no error messages. Photos usually appear, but if they are part of a link, probably not. Videos DON'T work. Period. Links to videos usually work, and then you're putting up with ads before the linked video starts. And the best part, if you like to read your local news in Spanish, they have you covered. Lots and lots of Spanish. No Italian. No German. No Polish. ¿Por Espanol? Si.
