Philo

Philo is definitely on its way to competing with the other big boys in the live TV streaming game. Sling started out looking just about the same, with plenty of issues, and DirecTV Now has had more than its share of problems when they first went live. I've had Philo for a week now, no buffering issues at all (expected plenty, got none. A typical guide definitely needs to be put in place. I live in a rural area, but a 200 mile range antenna gets me the 4 major networks, so no issue for me there, and the selection of included channels for $16/month is pretty good. No sports, but watching only the NFL myself, I almost always see the games on Fox, NBC or CBS. Thursday night games on Amazon Prime. And, my internet provider lets me sign in to every TV app for Roku or Fire TV. With all the options available now to watch TV and movies (for free and legally if you know how) with only having internet service, adding $16/month for live TV is awesome, considering what I used to get gauged month after month by my cable co. I'm sure Philo, if they continue to work on current issues, and become more user friendly, will be a major player in 18 to 24 months. But, I'm sure by then the price per month will be equivalent to whoever is still operating. For now, it's a great alternative for those who want a really good selection of live cable TV channels, at a price less than a few meal deals at McD's, and don't mind switching to their antenna when they want to watch one of the big 4 networks. The only reason for 3 stars is the obvious issues every streaming service has had, nothing else. Well worth a try in that price range.

This is a great app if someone fix all the issues. When I was doing the free trails it was great but when I start paying for the service I am always getting a code error. I spent over two hours on the phone trying to figure it out with their tech and still the issue isn't resolved,, I'm still a member because this is actually something great Just really would like to see the code issues fixed starting the shows over every two minutes just doesn't work for me especially since I am a faithful member and payer of the service

Not for phones, Works fantastic on smart TVs that will allow the app to be installed was crucial and cutting the cord from Dish services, streaming is excellent not choppy like some other applications, works good on firestick, for the price you cannot beat the channels that you receive, cannot watch on the phone would be the only drawback. as far as commercials go, gives you time to get up and get a drink or go to the bathroom remember those days?

yeah same problems as everyone else. but i changed from fubo to philo because of better channel selections than fubo but fubo has a pretty good app with a channel line up like a cable channel guide that cable has. if there was something like that in the website and an app itself i would feel more better. but as for now i will still be a member.

I dont like this app.!! It wont let me log in using my email. This is the same email that I used on the website and it works just fine. Only when i try to used this app it wont let me log in. Always displays message "Does not recognize email. Try different one or create a new account." But it doesnt give option to create a new account. There must be something wrong with the app.

No way to log in. Can't find my acct. Ads say they have all these networks, but the only time I got in(the first time) there were no networks, and no listing. Just an extremely awkward to use movie list. Buffered constantly, not supported on android. I can't wait for YouTube TV to come to my area.

Ive had philo for months now on my roku stick and I love it I tried using this app so I can watch it on my phone without going through Google but it dont work but dont let the bad reviews discourage u I watch it on my tv and phone with no problems I love it the best part is if u come n during the middle of a show it starts at the beginning and u can save shows and movies to go back and watch for under $20 u can't beat that just wish they had local stations

Where's the regular Philo app, Android doesn't carry it? I cut the cord & signed up for YouTube TV which I love so far. And then to supplement for the channels they don't carry, like the History Channel & the Viacom channels. I signed up for the Philo app on my Roku Ultra for $20 per month for 50+ more channels. So $70 total per month for 150+ channels that I was paying $149.58 then $207.70 after one year with DirecTV. Bottom line I need the Philo app on Android. Update: Android app coming soon.

great if you consider average 6 minutes of tv then they cram 3-3.5 minutes of commercials. rewind then it makes you watch more comercials. this would be acceptable for free tv but $16-20 a month then they get paid for ads also no thanks. streaming is good but 30-40 % ads has got to go, when you decide who you want to be paid from let me know.

DONT DOWNLOAD!!! Its not like the TV app. it won't let you log in and watch TV like the app on your firestick. Major waste of time and really aggravating!!!!! wish I could give this NEGATIVE stars or a different shape!!!

I've never wanted to write a review for an app but Philo has been such an abysmal viewing experience I want everyone to know how awful it is. The only show I wanted to watch consistently froze at the same spot and wouldn't load anything after, it wasn't my internet as I'm on campus and we would know if the internet was slow or out. I can stream on other apps just fine. We need to treat this app like a dog with rabies and take it back behind the barn.

2 minutes of shows and 5 minutes of ads. The same 4 ads, over and over again. Advertises thousands of shows, but only has a few dozen. My last review was deleted for some reason. I wonder how much they paid Google to have it removed.

not for use on a cell phone. it works great on a streaming device (firestick) etc. it has alot of great channels. i gave it 3 because it buffers WAYYY to much! fix this and ill rate 5 stars

I literally just bought the non edu and it doesn't play all the time....I get a loading signal non stop. Already, ready to cancel. Also get video player error every night....ridiculous.

Don't waste your time guys I'd give this app a -10 if I could!....I haven't been able to log on since I've had the app....Like others are saying it keeps telling you that it can't find your account but were able to log in using Google....I also see that the last freakin update was 2yrs ago!!!!!

I love philo have it on my roku. people, it's not working on your phone because you have to have it connected to a university wifi. ot clearly states this. before giving bad reviews take the time to read

The sign in on the app does not work! When I tried to log in, it says that it does not recognize my log in email and password. Has anyone ever ran this without Wi-Fi? I travel a lot and I was wondering

God you people are clueless and can't read. This is an Edu based app. It is for the education crowd and only works if you are connected to a university's wifi. This isn't for general use so quit your whining and complaining that it doesn't work. Learn to read. If you're on an Android phone or tablet you have to use their site on the Chrome browser. If you have a TV you can use Android TV, Roku, Fire TV or Apple TV. Android app for everyone is getting worked on.

Damn company charged me but I cannot log in. Says my account cannot be found, but you didn't hesitate to charge me!!! Cannot log in even with chrome. Total waste of time and $$$. Needs to be flagged and removed from Google play store! Hate this garbage app and shame of a service!

worst app ever. even though I pay to have access to this it's very clunky it is never worked on my phone the only way you can get phyllo to work is on a TV or through your Gmail I guess what can you expect for $16 it's really crappy quality you know the customer service is really nice but the actual expectation of the product is horrid

As far as watching it on a computer or fire stick/ roku/smart tv is good i like a lot no real problems but when it come to watching it on ones smart phone not good one cant even get in the app let along watch any programing needs major work unless your on one of its selected college campuses.

I swear you people seriously dont read, the app only works for individuals connected to certain college campus networks. If that isnt you, simply use chrome browser and voila .... you can also cast to your tv. I love philo.

I've had Philo for a year now and I love it. I received a replacement phone and had to download the app again and it says my information is wrong. It does work for the website

Useless. Says sign in with only a phone number, then first thing it does is put a screen up that only alows u to sign in with email. Another unuseable app created by a team of rocket scientist. Also provides u with a sign in code but has NOWHERE to enter said code. LMFAO, my fourth graders elementry school class creates way more advanced apps that are actually useful to the world. Funny thing is, they call this an educational app but the creator is all but educated in making apps. SAVE YOUR TIME AND DATA. AVOID THIS ONE AT ALL COST! EVEN FREE, MY TIME IS MORE VALUBLE THAN WHAT I WASTED ON THIS TOTALLY USELESS APP!!!

It was working fine the first day I used it. Now, if I click on a show, the app closes :-/ I agree with the people in the comments section; love the service but hate the app
