Philo

I love the different channels and that I can either stream live or have my favorite shows saved and recorded. The ads can be a bit excessive, between 2 to 10 minutes, and God forbid you happen to try to skip them; you're forced to watch them from the beginning. Also, if I try to *rewatch* a program, instead of it starting from the beginning, it'll start about 75% in, so I manually have to restart it. *Response from provider clearly has nothing to do with what is written.

It's super cheap price versus any other cable service with unlimited DVR. So you have to watch a few ads .... that's why the cost is so low. Pay at least $65 + to get no ads on all providers. And not as many channels either, or DVR. Geez people are so demanding and unreasonable. It's $25 for live TV, unlimited DVR and xlnt variety of channels. Works flawlessly on my Roku. Haven't tried phone app.

I am so happy to have found Philo. I really Love it. There is an old program I love that I can see anytime I want. Thank u. But there is a problem trying to stream it on my T.V. It is hard to maneuver through the guide 1st because it takes forever, and then it freezes constantly. It took about 10 minutes to get to what I wanted to watch getting through the guide and 5 minutes into the program it froze up? So frustrating. On my phone no problem at all. But this is a wonderful discovery. 🙂

I like the app but I don't like that if I try to watch a season of a show again, I have to start each individual episode over manually instead of it doing it automatically. Especially if I've already completed the season. That's annoying. It's that and sometimes there's an endless amount of ads. I understand 2 or 3 at a time but more than that is excessive for a service I'm paying for.

Whhhhhy does it lag and buffer so much. It's frustrating. Every time I watch something it does it. I have to close app and reopen it and it works good for a few mins and then bam buffering and lagging again. It's pretty annoying. I love the app otherwise. But y'all need to fix the buffering and lagging issue because I see I'm not the only one in the reviews with this issue.

17 commercials back to back! This is excessive! Especially since I pay for the service. Will not be paying for another month of this. I am paying to watch programs not commercials. I'm literally getting 10% program and 90% adds. I got the app because it has 1 program I like to watch, and at 25 dollars a month, it's not worth it, when I'm seeing more adds than program.

Ads, ads & more ads even with a paid subscription. When you accidentally touch the screen wrong while pulling your notification bar down to look at the time while the ads are already playing, they start over, even if they're 10 seconds away from being done. So, that means 2½ more minutes worth. And it's really risky to go backwards or forward while watching on demand shows, because you'll likely start another 2½ minutes worth of ads, even if you're not at an ad spot in the show. Quite ANNOYING!!

POS. Was working fine until I paused video. Eent to check text message then after reopening I got a error msg saying video player error. After following steps still same issue. Uninstaller and reinstalled twice. Reset phone. Now laptop says same thing. Wife's app same thing. Browser same thing. Only one that works is app on smart TV. Absolutely dissatisfied with app. Worst experience ever. Have 10 different TV apps on phone and this is only that doesn't work! Will be canceling free trial.

5/16/22 It's getting better, slowly, it's 10' interface still needs work, it's still get problems with lag but, it's getting better. It's worth the money if it just fixed a few issues, like making it work on ChromeOS better, especially on tablets/Chromebooks! After I use this new update on my Chromebook and Shield, I will update this... Response:5/20/22 Your supposed to be the developer! The webpage works, just needs tweaking for smaller screens, like laptops that it's run on, Android too!

This app is really great and i 100% recommend it. It has so many different movies and tv shows and even all the classics im into and its free. It also dosent have a whole bunch of ads like the other free programs so im greatful for that. Also , they have really great customer service that is like a real person rather then a bot. My only problem is some movies dont work on my computer and theres some movies that have not been released. Overall its a great app.

On the Chromebook, when I click Install nothing happens but I got it installed on an Android player. They have a ton of ads and there are only a few episodes of the shows! There were only 4 episodes of Storage Wars Texas and 1 episode of Storage Wars NY and when it started playing there was an ad for Joe Biden! You can't skip the ads like on Youtube and I almost threw up! Also these losers have ads for the free channel Crackle! This channel sucks! It deserves less than 1 star!

Favorite streaming service People are saying "it has ads" and giving bad reviews of that. Yes, yes it does have ads. Just like if you were watching a channel on Cable and paying 3x as much. This app has never advertised ad free. It shows the same stuff as on tv, it just gives you another way to view especially if you dont have cable. Calm down! What I do have a problem with though is the new "recent channel" section. I honestly dont like that at. I've been using Philo for about 3 years

I don't understand why everyone is complaining about the ads. Every single live and on-demand streaming service has ads! Cable TV has the same amount of ads. Also I may have experienced buffering or lagging once or twice and that could have been my wifi, so once again I don't understand the complaints. I've been using Philo for 2 years now and I love it. If your looking for a good alternative to cable TV then give Philo a chance. Ignore the haters! If you experience lagging check your wifi first

THIS APP IS TRASH! You never received the authentication code that you must have to sign in each time you use the app. When I spoke with customer service she just offered me two options: 1) totally reset my smart television to 50 apps on it. (which has nothing to do with the individual app). 2) Get a refund.

Unable to fast forward thru ads since February. This app use to be great, but since took away the ability to fast forward thru ads on saved shows. I will be canceling. Too many long ads to watch. It doesn't remember where you paused a show it will take you right back to that same ad but from the beginning. A complete waste of time and money. You really messed up this app with the new update. It wasn't an update, but a step back if you ask me.

NO LOCAL CHANNELS (NBC, CBS, ETC.)Trust the statement "You get what you pay for". I wanted to check out the difference between YouTube TV & Philo since they're both offered under my T-mobile account for a $10 discount. I started with Philo. I didn't experience any of the buffering that other reviews discussed. However; NONE of my local channels were offered & those are included w/YouTube TV. Yes, it's a higher rate, but when paying for streaming, local channels should be included. Dropped! Sorry

I don't know it seems like in order to watch anything in this app.. I need to have another app to watch it.. like in order to watch I have to have to have paramount+? So I don't get it. I am updating 5/21 I called and got s free week trial because when an app asks for a TV. provider.. you can use this app ! so that was really helpful for me.. however.. it's really expensive to keep this app with live TV and you can't just choose like one channel as live TV so that sucks.

I absolutely love Philo. I cancelled my cable subscription over a year ago because it had become ridiculously expensive and I didn't get many of the channels that I love and since Philo has every channel that I love it has been wonderful! Yes, there are a lot of commercials, but you have that on cable too! At least with Philo I can be late getting to a program that I wanted to watch and it allows me to save and/or watch from the beginning even if the show/movie has been on for a good while already. I have recommended Philo to many people and I hope it's always available for the price I pay now and the channels that I love never go away! Thank You Philo! Linda One Very Happy Customer

The app is great. However, when i have it synced to my smart tv via Chromecast, it frequently loses connection. This is the only app i have this issue with. I would love to watch TV without it cutting out

This app has potential, and it could be great, but I'm so done with how awful it runs. Literally every time I play live TV it will freeze and start buffering after a while. It's not my wifi either because I don't have this issue with Netflix or hulu. Then sometimes it won't cast at all and I have to restart and clear everything. I've kept Philo for a long time but the price doesn't match how awful it actually is currently. Fix it and I'll keep my account, otherwise I'm done.

I've tried SlingTV, Fubo, DirectTV Stream, and YouTube TV. This is hands down the best, when you consider how good the app is and the cost. The app is never laggy, and the dynamic ads get built into on demand streams during initial load, so it never has to load in the middle. It just works, every time. YouTube TV was the only other one that works as well, but it's more than twice the cost. Sling and DirectTV is similar cost, but the apps suck. Laggy, and crash prone. Highly recommend Philo!

Philo plays the same 4 TERRIBLY produced commercials over and over again. For $25/month you shouldn't even have to watch ads, much less ones that literally make you want to jam forks into your ears. They're so bad, there just isn't enough good content on here to justify watching them over and over. I literally just canceled my subscription because of the horrible horrible ads

Horrible. It's trash. Don't bother trying to watch even 1 episode. Continually disconnects and when it does reconnect only shows more ads. It's trash. Horrible. Worst streaming app

In general, I like the app. Easy to use and a wide variety. I actually only got Philo for the Hallmark and GAC movies. The reason I only gave a 3 is because I have started so many movies only to have them turn off in the middle or they are gone an hour later. I'm a busy mom and sometimes I watch a movie in between things, when I do have some down times and it's very frustrating to not be able to finish a movie.

I have had an excellent experience for the last 3 years that I have had this app. Just recently I'm having problems connecting my phone to my TV thru the philo app.

Could be better, to many ads for the cost. Lagging behind other cable providers and streaming services when I watch with a friend is on the phone there program plays minutes before mines which is annoying

**UPDATE** They (website/Philo) say works on Android. Does not include Chromebook, even tho that's an Android App. Out of the twenty or so times I've tried to watch it, I get a "problem with audio" or some other thing that says why it doesn't work. I was really looking forward to this... unfortunatly it doesn't work well at all, and because of that, I'm canceling after the next month's bill Also should NOT have commercials for the price!!

Their "update" was a downgrade. Been customers for years. Unfortunately, after raising their price(we were grandfathered in for a lower rate), they did a update that makes it MISERABLE to watch. Called Philo, the cust svc agent just suggests to go buy all new equipment. Lol, cheaper just to drop Philo and grab a different service. Yeah, have Roku tv, so have to replace about $1700 in TV's?? I don't think so. Thanks for ruining your streaming service for loyal customers. AND fyi, already contacted them was told TODAY to buy all new equipment in response to the developer response below

Loved this app when we switched From CenturyLink/DirectTV...went from $210.@mo. to Phillo $27.95@mo. And we get ALL but about4-5 channels that we only watched on DTV...so if you want good tv inexpensive...Phillos the one!!! Set up a breeze! Love Em!

9 minutes of content to 5 minutes of commercials. No option to skip or fastforward. Streaming is suppose to better than live TV. What's the point in paying for this service?
