Philz Coffee

The app is great, but I don't understand why the earliest pickup time is always 30 minutes out regardless of how busy or quiet the store is. I've placed orders, then drove for 15 minutes, only to find out the store hasn't started the order yet because pickup is still 15 minutes away. I'd understand if the store was busy and that was the earliest availability, but it's definitely not.

The app is okay, except for the fact that it duplicated itself on my phone. I uninstalled one of them, and they both disappeared. I reinstalled it, and both Philz apps appeared again. Edit: After the update, they fixed the issue. I have no longer have any issues with the app.

Love the coffee. Really dislike the app. Checkout is confusing and takes an extra step or two than literally any other app food ordering app. Its hard to tell if your order went through. I have double ordered many times when not paying attention. They should really look at Chipotles app for inspiration.

Everytime I order on the app, it takes at least 30mins (Fremont location). No other coffee mobile order (Peets, starbucks) takes that long. Also, they set weird limitations, like I can only order 4 drinks max. I had to place a mobile order and then order a 5th drink in person. When i ordered the 5th drink in person, it came out before my mobile order, that i placed 20 mins prior. This app is useless. Totally defeats the purpose of mobile ordering. Very weird system.

Curbside pickup is basically useless. The app requires full location access but doesn't properly notify the store. You end up having to call the shop and hope someone picks up to bring out the order.

Great app- looks like they fixed the weird duplicate error. This app is a lifesaver if you want to order Philz but need to be in and out (since waiting for in-store ordering can take quite some time). Love it!

I downloaded the app today because there is a dollar off coupon for winter bliss. When I added the drink to my order, I saw that the price was discounted. But when I went to check out, the higher price was listed and the discount disappeared. I ordered in person instead and showed the email to cashier and got the discount that way.

The best coffee ordering app I've seen. Everything is easy, intuitive, and looks good. Makes ordering from Philz really easy - all you gotta do is walk in and pick up the order. Never had a payment problem - seems to take most modern forms of payment. Thank you! Great job! One thing that could be improved: location-specific specials and other info.

Really like Philz Coffee. This review reflects my experience with the app and not the store or brand. Navigation is unintuitive. They've departed from a lot of the traditional UX language and paradigms, so navigation requires a lot of trial and error. App used to have random signouts, but this has improved. Notifications are still a little buggy, with 'last visit review' appearing over the order pickup card. The app also adds two icons to the app drawer, which is a little irksome.

The app frequently fails to open or gets stuck on the open screen. Like at least 1/3 of the time. Sometimes I can close it and reopen, but sometimes it just won't work at all. Today it just won't load at all, even with uninstalling and reinstalling. I never know if I'm actually going to be able to order or not, or if I'm going to have to change plans and order in-store (which obviously takes a lot of time because the drinks take a while to make). When the app is actually working, it's really convenient. But it doesn't reliably work.

Looks beautiful, but it's a bit slow and clunky. Also it crashed on me initially. A better UX design would keep in mind that users are forced to use this app since the store won't allow in person transactions. This means users will already be frustrated and not have the patience to download the app, sign up, and figure out how to order their drink. Like I said, the app looks great, but if I'm in a rush and already frustrated, a simpler, quicker menu would make my experience less frustrating.

Can't login or make an account, says my password is wrong (it isn't). When I tried to first make an account, they said my emails didn't match (they did). Awful app which is sad because the coffee is good!

The app is well designed, I like the carosel layout for selecting a drink. I also like the good integration with GPay for an easy payment flow. The ability to cancel your order within the first few seconds is definitely something I didn't expect, but I've used it at least once.

Got two app icons on the app list. Don't know how to remove the duplicate. Edit: the issue is fixed.

I am sorry guys but the last update locked me out from my own account and after more than a week I cannot still login. You have lost easily 7 or 8 orders in the last few days.

This app was working pretty well prior to the update. Now, this app is multiplying itself. When I remove one, they all (so far 3 mirror apps) uninstall. When I reinstall, they all reinstall. Why is this app multiplying itself? I have cleared the app cache and data. Done soft resets. Uninstalled, then reinstalled the app. But the issue persists.

Great app before the last update. Now the app drawer has duplicate app icons. First I thought it was the operating system until I updated to the latest OS. Still there. Deleted the app, reinstalled. Based on other reviews it looks like it's directly from Philz. Hope to see an update asap.

Edit: I appreciate the follow-up. App works great for me now! App doesn't even load for me no matter how many times I quit, restart, or reinstall. I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 so it's not an old phone on an older OS.

This app is amazing!! Easy and fun to use with great personal touches. I love how it shows the name and picture of who is making your drink. Drinks were made within 6 minutes! App is very easy to use and intuitive. Plus, it's neat when you pick up your drink, very clear which drink is yours.

Doesn't have my SJSU location so the app is useless to me. If I don't want to wait in line for 15-25 minutes I have to either order through the app at a different location or use a third party app that doesn't always get it right. Absolutely mind boggling how not all the locations are in the app. Maybe it's something about the location being next to campus but I wouldn't know because the developers never answered my email. Great coffee though...

I've been using this app for about an year. I just switch my phone and was worried that my information wasnt going to transfer over but it totally worked! I know its not a perfect app (like i cant order pastries) but considering how long the lines are at philz, Im very happy with this app. I actually have never had any problems with my orders (unlike what some people have said..). Looking forward to what Philz is working on releasing!

The app is pretty intuitive and I love the design. Nothing seems wrong on my end (Samsung Galaxy S8+) However, some things are missing. There's no food/merch options available. Not major for me since coffee/tea are my priorities. However, it might be an issue going forward. Also, why are certain stores excluded from pickup? My home store in downtown San Jose is not available for pick up. I wanted to stop using the caviar app, but I guess i have to keep using it if I want philz before class :/

App frequntly stalls on launch then loses log-on.¶App crashes when opening account settings every time, same over several updates¶Drink ready notification is fiction based on requested pickup time. I understand that places get busy, totally fine if my drink is late, only complaint is that the app tells me my drink is ready when it hasn't even been started!¶Would be better if caffinated/half-caff/decaff was an option on the drinks where that is available.¶Dump the barista info: it's always wrong.

App doesn't work. Can't even set up an account. Input all required info and clicked "continue" but nothing happened. Thus. The rest of the app is useless. Can't order without an account. Need to fix this bug.

I downloaded the app, but it bugs out when i try to create my account. I press "continue" and the app just freezes on the account creation page. Wish there was an option to order without signing up. I need my coffee fix!!

Eh everything is great but... I really dislike the fact that after you pay with google pay and use your fingerprint it asked to confirm the order again. I think once you place your fingerprint and process the payment, that should "complete" the order. Just a thought.

It is great to simply order a drink and have it ready when I arrive. I really don't like that there isn't a order history. I want to try all the blends, but I can omit find the number that I've tried, not the flavors. I feel this should be an integral part of this app.

Was great until I found out the hard way that the app limits orders to 4 drinks and 2 food items. Remove the limits and give longer pickup times for orders over 4 items. I had to use multiple phones to get the order in, why? There's no excuse for this horrible customer experience in 2021. Get with the times

It freezes on my phone and I end up having to uninstall and reinstall. But this time not even this will allow me to launch the app. I have an Android phone and this doesn't seem to occur on iPhones at my house.
