Good for a lite experience. I downloaded this wrapper exclusively for the video downloader functionality. Unfortunately performance leaves much to be desired, and I didn't think it would be a more stripped version than the official lite app. Too many functions are unavailable or unreliable, so I'm moving back to the official app.
Beware: constant lockouts for unauthorized access, read below. ---- I'm a user of many "slim/tin foil" apps for social media. I switched to Phoenix because it checked all the boxes. Then messages started going out, posts started missing likes, then the nail was the constant lockouts. I don't know what this app is doing differently from the others, but having my account locked for unauthorized access 3 times a week for a month is not a "glitch".
Significantly intrusive activities and permissions for a wrapper, you migh as well just run the Facebook app. Clocked for 15 minutes trying to load 1 thread from messenger, all the whole claiming slow connection, I'm connected to a 5g tower and ran a sleed test, over 180mb/s down roughly 50 up... That's nowhere near slow and should laod my entire chat history from the past decade in less than 60 seconds. What it was actually doin was prioritizing snoopojg my data over what its advertised to do
Was the best for a while but hasn't kept up. The quirky problems with messages don't even matter anymore because now Facebook thinks someone is accessing my account and locking it when I use this app. Twice in one week! 💩
Can't read in dark theme. Messenger is still unusable no longer works. After update, app is super slow, and Messenger never loads. Ask for login for every page you visit. Ask for login whenever you switch from newsfeed to profile page even though you are logged in. This app is almost unusable.
Messaging doesn't work. Flaky. Doesn't mark checked notifications as read. Unable to manage pages. Gives error page not found. Loads slowly. Using galaxy S10+
Has gotten worse over time. Messages no longer load. Notifications do not work well and data sync isn't great. Using a one plus 8 pro.
There are many great features of this app, I just didnt find myself using it enough to really benefit from it. With that said, it also failed to work properly in many cases. Example: clicking on a notification will only send you to the 1st one you click on. you must close out of the app completely in order to open a new notification. Or how sometimes in dark mode, text would remain black and unreadable. Ultimately I uninstalled it and went back to the official app as it's more reliable.
Does an excellent job regarding Facebook wrapping, great alternative to the official FB app. However, there's 1 annoying thing.. Every week it gives a vibrating alert that I haven't checked the app for more than 2 weeks, even though I check it every day. It's annoying, as it sometimes wakes me out of my sleep. And I can't turn it off anywhere.
A great idea with poor execution in my experience. I think it may just not be optimized for all phones as my phone kept randomly shutting off when I had it installed, even after clearing my cache. I liked the idea, but between the shut offs and having to tap buttons multiple times, it just didn't work very well, so it has room to improve. The messages function did not update to show new messages all the time, I had to back out and reopen conversations to keep up.
This is a great app to use as an alternative to the official FB apps. It is very lightweight on the battery consumption, pleasant in its user interface, it allows for a few customisations and includes Messenger. After using it for a few weeks I can say I will not go back to the official apps which are, quite frankly, overbearing, heavy and in the case of FB Lite rather ugly and glitchy. The communication with the creator is fast, professional and very kind! The app is free and free from ads!
Liking the app on first impression so far. My main issue on first impression though is no matter what theme and whether you pick light or dark, the colors are way too intense. Little more grayish tone to the dark theme would be nice, but to fit all people, it would probably just be best to put in ability to pick your color palette. Helps people who are colorblind and those like me that have some issue with colors being too intense hurting eyes.
I initially downloaded this app as an alternative to the stock Facebook app. It wasn't very well made, and had plenty of glitches, and strange behaviors. Dark mode was basically broken, as several of the window pop ups would be white boxes, with white text. The marketplace was completely broken, and would change from the app style browser to a pc web browser seemingly at random. However, now it also can't keep out the ads, and promoted posts, defeating the one reason I preferred it.
I am very pleased using the app. I just have noticed two issues that bugs me. The image downloader adds a .jpg to downloaded images so the real file name has .jpg twice in the name so it won't be shown in the gallery. The second one is that I am unable to look at images that are considered as danger content, it just show the eye simbol of FB but there is no way to see the image.
Oneplus 6 on latest OTA update I just decided to randomly try a few of the Facebook wrappers available for Android and this was one of them. It's decent, it's not the quickest, nor the slowest. Dark mode is okay-ish, but there are plenty of issues with it (For example entering an unknown user through a random post has this 'things in common' part that's not affected well by dark mode as if it's just a chrome flag change) Layouts are an awesome feature of this one in comparison to the others. I love the IG layout and having the option to choose one of them that suits you best is a great feature! Would recommend to try this out, but maybe once they fix some of the tiny annoyances
Messanger stopped working. Edit: Thx, Unimania. I installed the update, but the massenger still does not work. When fetsching messages it says: "slow connection. please wait..." and stuck there. If I open a message notification it says "The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been remove. Edit2: The latest update did the trick. The messanger is working again. Thanks you!
loving *usually* not having to see facebook's ugly, blue theme, when using phoenix. sometimes though, it does show a blue bar at the top, but only during unusual actions. opening mesaages area is very slow. opening images inside of conversation is very slow. just like in facebook and facebook lite, the newsfeed keeps refreshing and sending me to the top without warning, which annoys me to no end.
Very good so far, but there're some bugs: 1) sometimes switching from light mode to dark makes the text in posts invisible (not my phone's brightness setting), happens too when I just open the app and the text is gone; and 2) there's also the back button on top of the post when you click on it, when I tap it to go back it leads me back home (which is normal) BUT it goes back to the top of my feed (not normal). Please fix these devs, this app is super convenient! More power to the team!
All of a sudden my news feed not showing. I tried reloading several times but not showing. What is weird is that I can go to chat screen and see that and other peoples pages and see their feed but not my own???? My feed shows the header and the 3 dots to get to settings etc. But the feed part is blank. Don't know why??? I try to refresh it and still comes up blank like this. I am using the Android 8.0. also saw another review with same problem. PLEASE HELP US. I SENT YOU EMAIL TOO.
Lightweight and clean! Immediately love this app. The only missing part is to block those FB advertisement. I would like to pay for the AdBlock function.
Kept getting locked out of my account and now it wants PII that I don't have and don't want to give to get it back. Might have permanently lost my account because Facebook thinks this app is suspicious :(
update: Just changed the theme and it won't load the feed. reinstalling doesn't fix it. I had to delete my app data to log in after it unexpectedly logged me out and wouldn't let me log in again due to infinitely loading after submitting my credentials, but it works now. 1 star off because when I clicked on my profile link at the top left, it spammed me with infinite redirects that made it near impossible to switch windows to close out of the app.
Great alternative to the stock FB app. No an outing ads in videos and the option to customize my apps appearance. A++
Fast and reliable enough, so far, might keep this one for a while. UPDATE : Okay so the app is reliable, fast without adverts, and totally free. I love how you can just pull up on a shared pic to show the comment on the real post. The only thing i can't seem to do is mentioning friends properly(forget about tag group/page), and downloading videos seems to be slower than Simple, could be my end. Overall a good alternative with a slightly smol pops here and there, but not the one to distract you
So far this is much better than Facebook and Facebook Lite. Lightweight, easy to use, quiet, easy to navigate, post photos, comment, share, participate in groups. **12/24 edit: now get a blank white screen and can't see posts, buttons, messages, reactions, etc. App turned useless yesterday. ??? Going back to Lite, sorry -- I use FB for work 😕
just started using this and i like it, just 2 things though, the fb marketplace doesnt work, is this something that can be fixed? I also noticed a weird bug where the second bar up top (with News Update and More) will have 2 of each section, New Updates and More and then all 3 again but I couldnt tap on the 3 extra buttons, this happened after I first played with the settings, and a close and reopen of the app it fixed, i thought id mention it
So far, this is the best app for third-party Facebook, and it doesn't go to the next story when you play the video of the story, but there are a few hiccups in the app, for example, holding the like button doesn't always show the reactions, and viewing featured stories is very buggy. Overall, it's a great app for browsing newsfeeds and chatting.
