These settings are built into Android and can be used to force for example, 3G or LTE/4G when necessary (obviously this will depend on if the coverage is available) - but you can use the Android settings to force LTE as an example.

Perfect! On my custom ROM the usual dialer code didn't work. I thought I'd give this a shot, but wasn't particularly hopeful. However, using this app opened up the hidden service menu and I was able to change my SMSC number so that my SMS messages work again!
