Phonemes: IPA chart, transcription & pronunciation

Paid but still getting Ads. This is a pretty good app for learning the IPA but even though I'm running the full paid version, it still pops up ads. That's why I only gave it 3 stars. The other reason is that the settings are hard to find in the GUI and it doesn't scale well at all on tablets. The other large complaint is that you can't use it without an internet connection which makes it unusable on a plane, which is a place I would very much like to spend my time learning phonemes.

This app is unfairly downvoted. For people who paid for pro but still see the ads: reinstall the app (I had that problem too but now I solved). To the developers: really thanks for this app! Animations are also very useful to understand better how to pronunce the phoneme. Please don't stop improve the app, it's really such a good project.

Hi, I bought the no ads version and sometimes the ads appears anyway. The app always use the same phomema for THE. It should be different if the following word starts with a vowel. Sometimes it makes me more confused. For example I got different phonemas for the word "banana": bænænə and bɐnˈɑːnɐ The dictionary instead write: bəˈnɑːnə

Very intuitive and useful app. However, there is just one thing I'd like to request, being that I would much appreciate it if you could add Dutch to the language selection. Furthermore, one slight error that I would like to point out is that all German words that start with an 's' is followed by a 'p' , 't' etc and should represent the s as 'ʃ' instead of 's'. This, and adding glottal stop symbols (ʔ) when required would make IPA transcriptions for German more accurate. Otherwise, great app!!!

does a very fine job of converting any text into IPA transcription, simple to use. Great. 🙃👌😇🙏😃👍🚴🐕

Just about everything I tried on here didn't work. I was asked to watch an ad to hear one sound, which didn't load... And neither did the ad the first three time. Another sound was downloaded for some reason. It failed an aproximación of a Russian word too... UI isn't great either.

So far it's been pretty great, minus the keyboard, it's just doesn't work as announced. Update: Sometimes the MRI video on the pronunciation guide is just too small it's certainly a bug, for instance we can see this problem on the Close back rounded voewel as in Boozer.

I'm a classical singer and currently a college music student, who needs to learn foreign languages, how to say the words properly, and to sound like I'm a local of the country where the language is from. This IPA generating app is LEGIT, FREE, FAST, and can generate IPA for French, German, Spanish, and English! Although i wish this app can also do IPA for Italian, Scandinavian, Russian, and more, All in all this app is great and it helps me a lot in learning how to say specific foreign words!

As an app for an international language system, you should have more languages.

Hello, I get that you put restrictions in the free version, developers need to earn money too, but it would be nice to be able to uncheck a choice (for me especially US english because I don't care for it and I'm not going to use it - I use UK english). Thanks you.

Ads are not completely disabled, Why am i getting fullscreen ads even after I have bought premium?

This app couldve been great. It tells you a lot about specific phonemes and it does a great job with that. Now you may be asking "then why is this a two star review?" Well I would've probably used this if not that non English sounds are "PREMIUM" WOW! AMAZING

THIS APP IS A SCAM! Besides the most basic of phonemes, you need to pay for access to other ones. For those people who are thinking of getting this app, don't. Search 'International Phonetic Alphabet' on Wikipedia if you want to see and hear phonemes for FREE.

I understand free versions have to have advertising but it's quite nerve-racking the way it 'recommends' getting the full version. Long gone forever.

I've been using it for a day and so far I have no complaits. It is pretty useful if you are interested in phonetics and improving your pronunciation.

I have just bought this app and I have checked the primary language option in the settings but the British English isn't there. I cannot use this app now and I'm annoyed to say the least. Please fix this.

I gave it only 2 stars because there are some mistakes I found in phonetic transcriptions...not better than Text to phonetic app........but it is somehow ok improve it and it will be ok

Not perfect & the UI could be better, but it's the only full IPA chart in the entire play store so worth buying to support the dev.

It seems like a very good app, but I can't purchase the full version. I want all the phonemes, not only English ones.

There was only one foreign language that was offered. Not very helpful, unless you are learning English or Russian.

I've uploaded the app and paid for it as well but the sound doesn't work on any of the examples I clicked on.

I am sorry but the phonemes are wrong I am an American English speaker so I know what I am talking about the phonemes you get from this application don't match with either USA or UK English at all well to be fair some do but what is the point if not all of them match?

I'm in Ghana 🇬🇭West Africa and my experience is very bad all the helpful features are locked and you will need to buy to open every feature at least it should have the basics

the free version is way too locked down there is not enough functions in the free version to test it out.

It works pretty well! This has helped me with my phonetic classes, thanks to the developers for doing it :)
