The app crashes often and rarely can actually pull up posts, often failing to pull text from the provider. Every single time the app fails to load it plays an ad, I don't think this is intentional but it definitely feels insulting.
Nice and simple to configure and use, reasonable price to unlock all features and remove ads. Suggested improvements: confirmation prompts on the "mark all read" icon and when deleting subscription to a group; killfile or blacklist option to filter unwanted posts; change the "Max number of posts" setting increment to 100.
Loads the same 50 or so headers with no way to refresh or retrieve new posts. Subscription process is counterintuitive -- after checking a group to add it you have to back out and return to load messages. Can't delete or sort downloaded messages. Very poor design.
Crashes all the time, ad placement horrible, doesn't work for the most part and can't do much even if it worked right
Ok once I had discovered how to get a listing. It was not intuitive to a computer user as opposed to a. Phone user.
Not able to filter or even delete Spam so one newsgroup displays nearly only Spam and you have to scroll to get to real posts.
Paid twice to be allowed to post to news groups, and I still have to pay or watch a video every single time anyway.
Doesn't format quotes correctly in about 1/3 of the cases. Uninstalled in favor of another app.
Useless take a whole new dimension with this app, usenet became smaller than the smallest forum on the net with this app
For the small price it's good, if basic. Only problem is it seems to chop long threads into disconnected bits. This may be because it is confused by cross-posts from newsgroups both or all of which it collects headers from, a question of duplicates perhaps.
Even though the notifications are disabled the app still manages to send notifications and play sounds. The number of news seems to not reflect what is displayed.
Works flawlessly. It isn't very configurable, but does what it needs to do well enough.
The app keeps pestering me to rate it so I'm giving it one star.
This is the best Usenet reader for Android I've come across so far. It has threaded message views and the reply function works fine. It doesn't do pictures very well at all. A way to blacklist people would be great. Overall, pretty good!
One star for constant harassment to give a rating. The app works well, but it would be nice if it had an offline mode, to allow me to read groups when I have no network connection
It's a bit awkward to use.
A hierarchical tree alternative view for selection would b useful
Cannot mark individual thread as read. Wish I had stayed with the old version. I uninstalled and reinstalled but that seems to have made things worse. Cannot sort messages by date so most recent is at the top. The write new message button is in the wrong place you can never see how many posts are in the last group it should be on the options dropdown.
I like it for the most part. A few little tweeks would get more stars from me. A reading pane along with the thread pane, keeping the entire thread together - not breaking into a new thread with the same topic for same level replies.
I can read the news on my tablet everywhere. Easy to set up with aioe or eternal-september. Simple in use with not a lot of options obscuring.
Perfect app for reading my university's news group
Found the offline functionality does not work and just assumed it was in the paid upgrade. So I paid, still no luck and two weeks ago I emailed for help. Sent a few polite follow up pleas and still no reply to any email. Yes, its the prettiest usenet client out there, but without offline article reading and a kill fill, I will be keeping with Groundhog.
Good: Easy server and subscription setup. Postings are technically correct. Bad: A bit too simple user interface (settings only in main menu). Contains adware, but no posting without paid upgrade (up to CHF 2.09) except in test groups. No fixed-width font. Cannot view or test what I would be paying for. No updates since months. Uninstalled.
In theory could be good but won't even let you compose a post - totally useless garbage in its current state.
Creating and reading posts is easy.
Unreliable. Can connect to server about 5% of the time. When it can connect, it can never read the articles. It always gives an error. There is no way to modify any of the connection settings after they are saved. The only way to change them is to create a new connections settings entry and delete the old one.
Fails with server connection every time and have to refresh way too many times to read any messages
Works perfectly uses only built-in GUI elements, so it integrates well! Five stars!
Simple and usable. It would be nice support for other char encodings
Purchased upgrade. Worked for a while. Now today I can't post. Update: Working ok now. Only problem now is when you are responding, your work disappears if you touch the screen in the wrong place. Had to pay again to use all features and now the app doesn't work at all. Don't waste your time or money on this app. It's too buggy and unreliable
