Piano by Yousician - Learn to play piano

Really liked learning with this app, but the ear puzzles annoy me since a few days. If I find time to play / continue my learning path, I want to play the piano, not my smartphone. I understand that it is also important when learning an instrument, but in my opinion it should be a separate lesson / path or at least be skippable (without popping up in the next lesson again). Please think about some adjustments here! Thanks. An otherwise very happy pro- subscriber.

Love this app so far! I love how it progresses in difficulty and teaches you things one step at a time. A few things: the timing for when the notes are supposed to be played is slightly off and therefore my timing can't sync and I end up missing the notes. ..another thing is, I'm having difficulty reading the notes since I haven't memorized the scale yet. There are different notation views which is awesome, but I need one that had the note letters and has the real symbols also.

This app worked beautifully until the latest update. I used MIDI and was loving my experience. After the update, the app won't even load with a MIDI cable plugged in. I contacted tech support and was told that the iPad I was using for the past 6 months doesn't have enough RAM to support Yousician even though it worked awesome for the past 6 months. I was told to purchase a better device and run it off that. Obviously I'll be cancelling. Tech support was awful, basically said "too bad, so sad".

This app is a bit frustrating with the on screen piano because it keeps pausing because the keys do not extend far enough and tapping off of the piano keys pauses the song. I wouldn't mind too much except it keeps making me miss the timing and failing on that note. Also the pause button right next to the bottom left keeps getting hit too. please fix.

Its a really great app and its helping me play piano really well! The only problem with it is that it go's into the harder stuff really quickly and it's really hard. But other than that its a really amazing app and you might want to throw your phone to the ground but you get back at it soon enough.

I signed up for the 7 day trial, forgot to turn it off in time. I was charged $148 for a year subscription I'm not even sure I'll be able to use. So if you sign up for the free trial MAKE SURE to check the settings for what you want if you happen to forget. I can't really afford $150 due to being in between jobs but I apparently the customer service isn't extremely helpful.

At first, I thought this was a really impressive app. Loved the first lesson on basics. But it's deceptive. The next thing you know it pastes in your credit card info, and if you're not careful you'll have signed up for a one week free trial and an automatic payment of $139.99 per year. I really expected the free part to be a lot longer to find out if I was making good progress. I'm uninstalling this app right now. It's been fun, but I've gotta run!! Too bad.

Great app. It works well. I don't know that I'd recommend it for someone who has never played, only because it can't really correct your hand placement and it doesn't seem to correct if you hold at a rest. But this is a great app for anyone who has had some experience with music and wants to learn more.

I enjoy the personalized lessons. I can see my progress when I go back to a previous lesson that I struggled with but now can complete with no problem. The only issue I have is that sometimes the player slows down or jerks. It is bad on some songs and none existent on others. But overall it is a great app to learn from.

I cant really review the app because the free part of the app is so small and you don't even get 30 min free per day anymore thats really dissapapointing because its not mentioned anywhere it just stops after the first few lessons I wish they would just do it like other apps where the whole course is free but you have to watch ads in between lessons

Just got it. Not good for learning to read music. Lots of crashes so very frustrating to use. Wish you could pay monthly and cancel any time, because I would.

Only used it for a short time, but between having to constantly turn down the "mixer" to not have annoying feedback with every note played and issues where the sheets randomly become tiny it has been a frustrating experience. With all the competition I'll opt for another app.

This app is super A N O Y I N G!!! It says I've played the wrong note when I literally haven't at all. I know the note is correct because I keep trying it and it works sometimes. I really want to rage and delete this app but I need the tuition and this is the only app that teaches you for free. PLEASE fix this issue ASAP... So I came back after going to your website and I decided to change my review. It is much more easier with headphones.

Just started with the piano, it's been good so far, but my keyboard isn't as long as an actual piano, and I'm really not sure how to adjust it in settings, otherwise I've loved your app for guitar and singing, and I'm loving this one too.

This is a great app for learning how to play the piano, there is a lot of content, lessons, songs and challenges. There are some annoying bugs here and then, but nothing to bad that stops the flow.

This app was great exept for right after it teaches you notes on your left hand you have to do a trial to continue and I want to learn piano for free to be honest. But the app is great I definitely recommend if you can do the trial.

Really didn't like the format and UI with colors and the ball, so you sit there waiting to pound your piano key when the ball is smack-dab in the middle of the note. If too soon or too late note turns red but suppose you hit the wrong key? You can't tell. Then, you get stuck in a loop with seemingly no way out to rechoose your level. Awkward and clumsy. Simply Piano has way better UI, navigation, and teaching method. This was awful.

Looked good at first glance and I had fun with it for two days (I paid for it, too). After two days, it's unusable because the app doesn't recognize sounds after you reach a certain speed and complexity with the melody. I have access to three pianos: American Classic, American Concert and a grand solo - none of these sounds get recognized by the app, especially D. I can't advance with the missions because of this. I've tried fixing the situation by using different speakers and adding distortion/overdrive/EQ etc. to the sound, no success. useless app

Absolutely awesome. I use with a midi so no issues with note recognition and it's surprising how quickly you can progress with a small amount of time.

I love it. Am using to learn piano and all of the functions are making it easy, and easy to use. Very well put together app. Leaves no "grey" areas. I don't get stuck and not know what to do at any point. Thank you, creators of yousician. I'm a rather socially awkward person so the whole not having to leave the house and meet with someone really is wonderful.

The app is good but I don't like that the music is locked and you only can play a little bit of thr song. Over all a good app though I still play the app almost everyday.

This app is great, it helped me a ton to learn to read sheet music, again. And the finger placement highlights are great too. I have so much fun when I learn to play.

First of all the notes don't give you timing. It's a solid one count note for all the notes including the 2, 3 and 4 count. Also.. still being charged well after cancelling my subscription.

My one gripe is a lot of times you'll blast through and get perfect ratings on 4 lessons in 10 minutes, but then spend 30 minutes to an hour on the next one because it suddenly expects you to use literally all lessons at once with no build up time. Not really a problem because the options for practice are very thorough, but it'd be nice if progress was a bit less steep. Or if the devs want to spend less effort, just call those lessons the "final exam" lol at least then you'd expect it.
