What is the point of the Songs/Digiscore part of this app if it is ONLY for the built in songs? I want to be able to add my own MIDI files to the app then have the digiScore part show the notation. Just having it for the built in songs, that are of no real interest, is a major disappointment. The one good thing I do like about the app (used for FP-10) is the fact that it allows any of the FP-30 voices to be used. That part is really nice (esp the 2nd Cathedral Organ).
Tested with FP30, Huawei lite 10, Android 6.0 First things first: With the proper mobile phone and connection, and with a little bit of intuition, this software does all what it has to do. Issues and solutions: Setting up the BT connection is not complicated, but not straight forward if your phone BT is supported: enable BT, pair up, start app, press wheel, press BT midi device, pick the device for asterisk to appear next to it, press back on the phone... First time you use the app, it wants to connect to the internet... if it cannot, it gives you a cryptic error message. If you use its bluetooth connection, rhythms get badly out of sync, so use USB cable connection to mobile / tablet instead. To connect through USB, first you need a phone/tablet that supports OTG. Then you need an OTG cable(!) to connect to the USB-B input. If connected and supported, the app will be able to use the USB connection immediately. Roland could be better with documentation, customer service is not really helpful, probably because of the various devices, versions, etc. But with the proper hardware, it's a pretty useful tool.
This app is useless for Android devices. I have tried to connect using various devices such as Samsung tablets and phones to no avail. The devices see my piano (RP102) via bluetooth but the app simply refuses to connect. I have ensured all my devices are up to date and the piano is running the latest firmware. Tested on a friend's iphone with instant success! I always get stuck at the same point being where the app states its attempting to setup the device, the bar fills all the way then nothing!
I can pair my piano FP30(updated latest version) to my Pixel 3 phone but can't pair it via this app. I tried hundreds times but never connected. I think this app has to be fixed in many ways. I have USB cable which is able to connect to PC, so I tried to use this app in that way, but they didn't catch my cable line in the app. I don't know how to fix it.
App works well with F140. 2 stars as connecting the app to the piano is poorly documented. For me, bluetooth connectivity was very unreliable, so I recommend connecting phone to piano via USB. Once connected, set the USB to receive MIDI data (the connection defaults to file transfer, which will not work). Select the connected piano in the app settings and it should work fine.
I bought a new Roland piano and told it was easy to setup Bluetooth. I've gone through all troubleshooting steps and nothing. It comes up with error e003, I've literally tried everything, and I've spent so much money, and it's not working. Store told me it's a fault with roland not us and it's a software issue. I'm really upset and I hope you get this error fixed. It's for my android phone running on latest version.
Installed this for FP-90, looks like beta, not yet finished. 1. Song section can not see anything except preset songs. Noting from internal FP-90 memory, even recorded songs, let alone external USB drive. From FP-90 itself no problem accessing all that, even subdirectories FP-90 has only 10 songs . Not possible to use any added songs with it and read their scores. 2. Rythm library is very limited, nothing being added. 3. This seriously limits FP-90 compared to other, even lower models.
So far not so good. Pretty disappointed with the interface between the app and my FP30. My casio from the early 90s has more sounds and drumbeats; albeit dated there are more of them from more genres. The keyboard itself is nice to play with responsive keys. Should not need this app at all. Roland electric pianos should have a little touch screen on them. The Bluetooth should be able to link up without running the app. The sound recorder i havnt tried yet. Might return my FP30
Once I updated my FP-30 to version 1.05 it started working (check the release notes for your device!!). Before the update, it simply said that it could not connect to the device even though it was paired. Now to the app itself, pretty neat that I can control it using my laptop (ChromeOS running this app). Version 2.0.5 (current) does not include the left hand on the sheet music for music pieces while Version 2.0.3 does (2.0.4 does not work for me). Wish I could upload my own midi files!
Terrible app. Landscape only, unreliable connection, no way to save some settings that are reset at every restart of the piano, no way to export saved songs, UI sometimes enters double the amount when tapping once... I could go on, but you get the idea. Roland could sell this as an entire platform with lessons, but is not even willing to fix basic functionality. Just hiring a developer that's also a pianist would probably make this app 1000% better.
This is a really useful app for anyone with a Roland piano. One should learn to connect the app to your phone properly. Once you have mastered it, the app works flawlessly. I use it with my Android phone. Adding more controls, voices and styles to future updates of this app would be great! Ability to write, read and play scores for recorded music would be helpful too.
My Samsung Galaxy Tablet topped finding the keyboard via Bluetooth last month, after working fine for over a year. Android sees and pairs with the keyboard; not this app any more. Deleted and then reinstalled the app; no change. The Diary function records everything you play on the keyboard, but it can't do arithmetic properly when telling you the total time you've been playing in a day. It can't correctly add up several keyboard sessions and give you a correct total. Sometimes clicking away from the current date and then clicking back will give an improved total. The device mis-records the time of a keyboard session if you power down the screen before it has finished saving the session. The length of the session will include the many silent hours that the device was "off", so your session will incorrectly appear to be 23 or more hours long. If you delete one of the huge mis-recorded keyboard sessions, the daily total of session time is not updated and still contains the huge time for the bogus deleted session. Roland should open-source this and let us fix the software.
App has a bad interface and is in broken English. I can't find any documentation on how to connect by USB. When I connect, whether by Bluetooth or by USB, it gets stuck forever on the "preparing data" loading bar. I am not able to use this app at all. Incidentally, I'm on a Note 5
Why does the app gives the error: Connect to netwerk (errorcode 2) every time I want to use it via BT? *Please solve this quick, because in the end it is potentially a nice app to manage your piano* And, as alternative, connecting via USB (The compatible model and a tablet need Bluetooth connection or a wired connection by a USB cable) doesn't work either.
Used to work with my FP-10, suddenly it does not.. Not that it ever worked well in the first place but at least it was something... They make an app to give you features that almost every other keyboard has built in, and then the app doesn't work leaving you with something that is not what you paid for. Big disapointment.
