I'm in the middle of tuning my piano (first attempt at runing more than the odd note) and this app is the easiest way to get started that I found so far. The interface is clear, and the help text makes it even more so. However, I agree with another review that while the plus price is spot on, the cost of the pro version is too steep for most of us, and you could lower it to bring in more customers. I understand the R&D took a lot of effort and it should be compensated, but still. Great app!
I find the app and tuning works as advertised which is also why I have bought the plus version for private use. Keeping in mind that mobile phones don't have the best microphones and different models behave differently, hence why I use an external microphone for better range. There are no annoying add which is a plus. One thing that would be nice for private people with two pianos, is to be able to save the two tuning files. Overall very pleased.
This is a fantastic tuner! I have reconditioned and tuned pianos for decades. The only tuning aid I had ever used was a StroboConn (which will give you an idea of how many decades :-). This tool did a nice job. I wanted to stretch more, but I actually like this result. One question that I have is the pattern of the partials on the strobe. From my StroboConn I expect the upper partials to rotate clockwise relative to the fundamental because they are sharp. On piano meter they go ccw. Why?
I have been trying to upgrade to the plus version to my android device but am continually being frustrated by google. Unable to do so
I really enjoy using this app as a part-time tuner, it sets a good temperament and it is cool to see the graph adjust as it calculates. Any chance there is going to be a discounted price to upgrade to the professional version again??
I'm a concert level aural tuner but I like to experiment with ETDs for repeatability in venues I frequently service for concert/studio work. I am unexpectedly impressed with this app. It is less tedious to set up than most ETDs and allows me to work aurally with my normal temperment sequence and use the app as a reference. It seems that the app likes pure 12ths which closely mirrors my aural style. Tunings sound sweet and open without excessive/unnecessary stretch. At $100 this app is a bargain!
A stunning implementation of a fairly common need. I'm a professional performing musician living part of the year in an isolated community. This app allows me to tune my 6' schiedmayer every month and maintain it at concert pitch. I shall be writing to the authors to enquire whether the accuracy/stability of the dial can be improved by the use of higher quality microphones than my android device has. Its such a pleasure to practise on an instrument which is as harmonious as those in any studio.
Wow, I have tried numerous piano tuning apps over the years and this beats them all hands down, especially on price. The upgrade is so worth it. The readout dial with the multiple rings really is the best UI of any tuning app, for me. Great job with this app!
Well I thought I like the app but then I couldn't figure out why some notes had a lock on them, given that there's a feature within the app that uses a lock as a symbol I thought it was part of the program. Nowhere in the free or trial does it say this is a free or trial, you got to go in and then find the little unlock thingI didn't even find that until I went online and read up on it.I know it sounds stupid but could you please put on it that what you're downloading is a trial with no features
Ok, I don't write many reviews, but this app deserves praise. I tried another app before this which was free, and while the intention in that app was good, the workflow wasn't as good as this app. I really like the visual feedback this app gives as you tune each note. Plenty of information, but easy to complete the task without being overwhelmed by the info. I'm just a beginner at tuning, but for a first try this app allowed me to do a decent job. I'm sure with practice I'll get better. Great App.
I am hobbyist with a Steinway B that likes to play around with tunning between each visit of my professional technician. I just finished tunning the entire piano with the help of this app. I am speechless. It sounds as good as when professional work is done on it. Kudos on the great work.
Please be more honest in your description. Rather than the vague "in-app purchases", explain that until you pay for this, it's a demo that can't actually be used to tune a piano. It's not considerate to waste people's time who can't consider paying $100 for a version that's actually useful.
no working for me. the lock mode is totally useless. it doesn't change the notes and if you don't give attention you end up with same note for different positions. for instance you tune A3 and change the position to A3# in tuner but the tuner doesn't change to A3# and you end up with the same tune more then once. and it is not always sometime it changes to correct note sometime keep the previous note. waste of money
I am a professional piano tuner of 12 years. Reyburn's Cybertuner on a Dell notebook has been my method for setting temperments and pitch raises. After a decade of use, my device is starting to get a worn, and without the ability to transfer Cybertuner to another device or the desire to pay 1k dollars for another copy, PLUS an apple product to run it on, I decided to test this app. In my professional opinion it is directly comparable to Cybertuner in all functions, and easier to use overall.
The UI looks a lot nicer now. I like the new labels when switching between graphs. However, they only appear when pressing the left/right buttons, and not when swiping.
This app is incredible. I tuned my upright after it being out of tune for 2 years. Sounds elegant now. Pro tip: make sure to first play the keys so the app can estimate the range of your piano
This is a very good app. 2 problems I have: it was hard to find instructions for this app. Both plus and pro add-ons are really expensive, especially since I don't intend on using the app more than a few times.
takes longer and is more frustrating to pick the note you want to tune than it is to tune a piano. Nobody has fingers small enough to sucveed. Auto note selection is completely off base and useless unless the piano was previously tuned.
Very pleased with the results on my Steinway Model O. I have tried many apps and electronic tuning devices over the years, and this is the best and most convenient so far for my current needs and tuning preferences.
It's actually OK. It's accurate and all I need is the middle register, then I do the rest by ear. I feel the upgrade is for those who can't tune aurally.
Works like a charm, but pricing is terrible, i know this program was very hard to develop but 25 dollars to unlock some functions and 300 for full version is unacceptable, especially for a mobile app.Who do you think you are Adobe or Autodesk? I never pay for apps, but honestly this program is of such good quality i was ready to pay few bucks for it.
Free version only tunes the middle two octaves. Not worth the additional TWENTY FIVE BUCKS G for the full keyboard. I really like it, but I'm just doing home maintenance on my piano, I'm not a pro. Definitely not worth it for me.
app is great for fast tune, but still need more better mic to pickup the sound. still need some aural tune on high and low oqtive
Seems like it could be good, but i wish i coul rest it on the entire piano. I would like to see how well it tunes the bass notes before dropping $100.
This app gives a proper stretched piano tuning with clear and fast reacting strobe displays. Ideal for the amateur or professional tuner.
Where to start. Well this app helps tune pianos. I've used other apps in the past. But none so much as helped as this one. I'm not even a tuner that works on pianos. I browse ads occasionally and get a free piano every year or 2 when I get the itch to play piano. I have paid people to come out and tune my pianos before. But I cant afford $150 each time. So back to this app. The free version gives you 2 octaves free of tuning. Then I'd you want to tune the rest. It's close to $30 for that versi
