Visual schedules are excellent tools in the learning process for people with certain developmental disorders such as Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD) or Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).These people are usually excellent visual thinkers. They understand and retain better the information presented to them visually.Visual schedules are based on the sequential presentation of a series of tasks, clear and simplified form, using for this normally pictograms to facilitate the schematic representation without unnecessary additional information.Visual schedules help these people understand the situations and know what is expected of them, thereby reducing the anxiety that generates the new and unexpected. With visual schedules you help them to anticipate the various events that will happen. Using this type of schedules you help them to give an order to their world and improve aspects of their emotional wellbeing.
What is PictogramAgenda?
PictogramAgenda is a software application that facilitates the generation and use of visual schedules on terminals (mobile phones or tablets) based on the Android operating system.
PictogramAgenda allows to set up and order a sequence of images (maximum 12) to form the visual schedule (agenda).
The application screen is arranged in three parts: at the top are the images loaded orderly and numbered to represent clearly the order of the tasks. The center of the screen needs to be pressed each time you want to move to the next task, showing current image or pictogram in a larger size to highlight. The images of the work already done will be going to the bottom of the screen in reduced size, as a reminder of the tasks performed.
The application includes some sample pictograms with usual situations of daily life of children (breakfast, go to school, etc.). These images are taken from ARASAAC, which is the Aragonese Website of Augmentative and Alternative Communication, where you can find extensive catalogs of pictograms, among other interesting resources. PictogramAgenda includes only some of these pictograms, but provides the possibility for the application user to load any image or photo stored on the terminal as a pictogram.
Summary of key features:
- Up to 12 pictograms from sample pictograms provided or examining the device for any image file supported by Android.
- At any time you can change the order of the remaining tasks by simply dragging the pictogram to its new position.
- Supports portrait and landscape orientation.
- Allows to cross pictograms out, to emphasize the fact that a task is NOT to be performed.
- If needed you can go back to previous pictogram or return to the initial status with all pending tasks.
- You can save and load agendas generated for later use. They are stored in the device's SD card folder "PictogramAgenda".
- Messages or texts of the application can be displayed in: English, Spanish, Dutch, French, German.

How do you use this app? No dropdown menu, no directions. The button icons don't make any kind of sense. How did this app rate over 4 stars?

Great app. We use it and very useful
It's just what we were looking for.
Fantastic app. Takes a little figuring out at the start but easy enough, and once your started off you go. Fantastic way to build visual maps of the day for my autistic grandson. Love the fact not only does it give you pictures but you can upload your own photos to put them in the visual map too, which for our needs is perfect as my grandson at the moment needs actual photos of his own stuff to know what he is doing next. Fantastic!
Very slow to load. Won't let me open new pictures. No idea how to set up a customized list.
15000+ pics!?!? I'm still trying to figure where they all are. Gonna spend a bit more time on this app and if I can't find the pics I'm deleting this app and finding something different for my son
Can't find additional pictograms on that website. Where specifically are they? Useless without them.
Simple to use, customizable, lots of downloads, what's not to like?
Pretty easy to figure out. My daughter who is 3 finds it so helpful to know whats coming in the day!
Can only have one storyboard, painstaking to have to delete & add pics for different routines. Would b gr8 if could create/save different routines/days. Help menu not helpful.
Needs instructions though :) Once I played with it awhile and realized I could save/reload multiple agendas, figured out how to use my own pictures from files, etc... It's great.
I need to add my pics of toothbrush ect says null ? Help please :( ive sorted it now 🙌 5 stars. ALSO CAN I SAVE MULTIPLE ROWS/SCEDULES???? IF SO HOW :D
This is a great and child proof app. My only issue with it is that the student needs to see and click on what's next rather than the play icon. Good range of images to choose from.
A little time to learn how to use this app will bring all the parents of special need children victory over schedule management challenge!
Can't get it to stay on English and it won't connect to add new cards. Great idea if it worked.

Took a while to figure out. Able to add own photos & drawings by saving to gallery. Would be 5 stars if I could delete unwanted schedules or change names of misnomer schedules. Otherwise my kid loves it (verbal ASD)
Very useful app while working with learning disability
This is a great appliction. It is very customizable in that you can use your own pics. My son enjoys the push as you go.
It's time consuming to add pictures. It would be faster & easier to get them from the web. I found it confusing, and didn't know if there is a library to choose from.
This is perfect for my job as a support worker. The ability to use any picture, be it symbol or photo, means I can tailor each agenda exactly to each individual's needs, then save it for future use.
It could just be my phone it could just be my phone, but the app refuses to work. It will not let me create an agenda. The pictures will not appear. Really confusing, not user friendly at all
I have read the website... I have played with this app for a full hour... I cannot see how I can make more than one agenda and I need multiple agendas. I have literally pressed all the buttons and I do not see this option at all. I've been through all the settings... this is extremely frustrating.
