I was able to sign up with an email, but the UI seemed to freeze up. So i wasn't able to add any further information after that. The UI is pretty, but doesn't seem to function properly. Love the concept, but wish there was more craftsmanship in the execution. Would love to see fixes soon and wish the product the best of luck!
As someone who wants to pay their loans off ASAP, I LOVE the idea of this app and what it offers. However, having to connect both my bank and loan servicer accounts, I feel myself disappointed in the apps security features. For example, when I close the app I stay logged in to my account. However, that it not the case with many budget or banks apps. It would be great if Pillar either automatically log users out upon them closing the app, create a short login code/pattern/whatever, or both!
App continually crashes. Not worth going through the sign up process if the app can't work those basic functions. Also the notion of a wait list is hilarious. The results are clearly mathematically automated. Was looking forward to the ease of access but that should be priority number one on your developers end.
Update: After I was unable to find a way to pay both my initial loan payment and additional funds and I left a mediocre review, the CEO reached out to me personally with some options. I chose one of those, which seems like it will work (a single recurrent payment that includes the initial and overpayment). I will watch over the next month to make sure everything is getting applied to the right loan, but very impressed with the responsiveness of the company. Hope to see more flexibility soon.
Seeing as this app is not functional at launch, I would say we have another case of an over funded and hyped app that was pushed so fast developers couldn't make deadlines. I'll check back in a week or so and see if the app has made progress. It seems like a great idea for an app and I am interested enough to give it a second chance. Update: everything is working, I am now 3000 on the waitlist.
I honestly love this app. It makes it easier to understand where I am with my Student Loan Debt. Because of how easy it is to make a payment, I now actually stop and think when making everyday purchases wondering if I should buy said item or make a small payment to my debt of the same amount. In a sense, I trick my impulse shopping into doing impulse debt payments. While it is still in beta and prone to a few glitches, it still has alot of potential and honestly the team behind it rock! 🎸
got signed up, no problems. i appreciate the wait list approach. its better to provide quailty service than just opening the floodgates and hoping for the best. 5 stars. Update: it's been 15 months, no contact and the app no longer loads. Just a white screen. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling. Did this company go under?? 1 star
Update: They are responding to feedback and are looking to correct the issues. Will update once its fixed. Not a good start to an important problem. They weren't even ready for beta. Failed to connect my loan provider then the buttons stopped working permanently.
I would like privacy and security information (encryption, use, data disclosure, etc.) before entering my banking and account details with personally identifiable information. i think this is a great idea, but for a new app I need assurance my data is safe. thank you.
At first all pillar says they can do sounds great until you find out that you cant use their services. Basically can't use them if you have a repayment plan in place. Basically was told that ill be taken off the wait list immediately since I didn't have the type of account they were looking for
I downloaded it and linked my bank and student loan accounts. One month in it tells me I need to reconnect the student loan account. I put in all my credentials over 10 times to be told that they were incorrect. Meanwhile, I am signing on to the website of my loan provider with the same credentials with no issue. I reached out to customer service and no one got back me. I deleted the app. Waste of time.
Thought this was a great idea. Not having any luck connecting to Navient, have been trying all day. Sad to see app released without the bugs being fixed first. A lot of hype to then be disappointed because it does work.
Junk. Tons of issues. You can't manage your loans if you use Lendkey, which is odd, considering they service MILLIONS of people. Interface barely works. Overall, useless and terrible.
I cant add any information as the next button doesnt work...not very useful. Also, attempted to sign back in but the app doesnt recognize my email, so i tried to create an account again but was told me email is already in use..
UPDATE: originally I posted 1 star due to difficulties logging in but everything was resolved fairly quickly I am now able to login to set up my loan account and set up my bank account now I'm just waiting on the list can't wait to see if this app can really help me with my student loans will be back with another update.
I am unable to link my loans. I have verified multiple times that the log in information is correct. I can log in just fine on the website but the Plaid thing isn't allowing me to log in. Once this is fixed I can give a proper rating.
Awesome app! Love the UI - making payments is a breeze and the app shows you exactly how much each payment saves you. Highly recommend!
really want to try it as it sounds like a really neat idea and has a sleek design, however I'm not able to connect my loan. I have official government Stafford loans, and cant find a way to connect it. would appreciate feedback.
You don't support my bank. However, I didn't find this out until I had to click the calendar 612 times to go backward month by month to find my birthday. A waste of my time and it was only to be on the waitlist. You can do better.
Annoyed b/c I've been on the waitlist for months. Just went to check where I stand and it had unlinked one of my accounts. After relinking it took me off the waitlist. Uninstalled.
It does what is advertises. It pays my student loans monthly, and gives me recommendations towards one time payments that'll ultimately save me money.
You can't even create a working app, why would I trust you with my personal information? So far, this app is a piece of f'n junk. Next button doesn't work during registration.
I used this app before and it worked great! Just got a new phone and tried to re-download and now just shows a white screen. Please fix!
can't connect any accounts to this app. It was so promising, but I can't get past the plaid verification for any accounts. frustrating.
5 million dollars that went into making this app went to waste. I tried to log into Navient and was stuck in the "linking" phase for 5 minutes. i gave up waiting after that. i feel bad for the people who gave their money to fund this. how to pay down loans: dont go out to eat, dont buy cars for more than $8000, rent for cheap, dont buy anything besides food. i have paid 6000 of 23000 so far.
Great UI and experience so far. Excited to see what's next once I get off the waitlist!
got through initial login to waitlist, and while trying to fill ikln additional informatoon, it keeps crashing at the phone number (after inputting home address). Not ready for anybody...what are we, alpha test? moto G5s
Amazing app, simple to sign up and gey atarted. It seems like it will save me a lot of money! Thank you for creating this service.
Since I'm unable to set auto pay while my loans are in deferment, Pillar has given me a tool to automate loan payments in the smartest way. Love this app!
Didn't have any issues signing up or setting up my profile. Noticed a repeatable UI bug (posted on Twitter). There were other UI glitches that I couldn't reproduce. I'm hoping all these bugs get ironed out soon. Never rush a deployment to production. It can end your product before it starts. Do you have a beta of the app ready, I'd love to help with testing.
