I used Palm devices from 1997-2003 and they basically shaped the way that I think about managing daily life. Anyway, I wanted to find a calendar that allows the user to set repeat frequency, synchronize between devices, etc..., so I bought this as soon I found it since it gives the user so much more control over parameters. After spending several hours making extensive notes to start the learning curve, my first entry disappeared several times. Since the entry disappeared so easily, I felt that it basically defeated the purpose of trying to use this calendar. I was ready to ask for a refund on day 2, but decided not to since the purchase supports a gorilla sanctuary. Anyway, tech support sent me an extremely detailed and well thought out personal reply with multiple approaches for the issue. The bottom line: It is a mental challenge to learn how to use this calendar requiring attention to details, complex thinking skills and investment of time. 3 days after purchase, I still don’t know if this will be the calendar that I will end up using.
I finally found a calendar to suit my needs and has the option to synchronize between my laptop and phone without Google or any other intrusive entity! It works with Google if you are the trusting sort. The program is simple enough to get started, but has depth to satisfy the most complex schedules. I had some questions for technical support and the response was prompt and accurate. Well done!
Nothing like the old PalmOS app we all loved. I was an avid DateBk user for years and it was hands down the best calendar app ever made. A big part of the workflow was the stylus, which is often mightier than the finger. The Android version has an overwhelmingly obscure UI with too many options, tiny buttons and—the biggest one—no smooth scrolling. It's just clunky and the UX is poor. I appreciate the developer's good intentions and hard work but this doesn't quite cut it for me.
Don't know how I'd manage without Pimlical. DateBk on Palm was great but this is so much better! So many prefereces it's sometimes frustrating to find the one you want - a diagram/glossary of terms would help a lot - but it's worth the effort, as is everything else you need to learn. Brilliant. Thank you! Purchased a few years ago, annual subscription wouldn't hurt so off to find out how can I send a donation...
I was hoping this would be closer to the palms & handspring & also palm phones I used to use. Those were simple or complicated depending on your need, &, pretty intuitive. Looks like palm, love week view, but just too much work for me. I'm disappointed but my expectations. Simpler more like the palm option be nice. After this last time of opening the calendar and all my settings, appts, reminders were gone again, I'm sorry to say I'm done and uninstalling.
I have used this app for many years going back to Palm V. It is superb. Easy to use and highly functional for managing diary and tasks. By far the best calendar and organiser app on any platform. The desktop version is just as functional and provides a useful backup if you don't want to give Google your whole life's data. One plea is for an icon designer like the old Palm version but now I'm gilding the lilly. Fully recommended.
Recently came from Pocket Informant for more than 12 years. Getting to know this little gem has been reasonable for what you get. I have only scratched the surface but love the direct sync to my desktop! Wish I could get more icons to use with the calendar types. Haven't figured that out yet. To busy at work.
A complete calendar; there's nothing that I've needed or wanted that it can't do. The only problem is figuring out which option or feature to use. I started using it on my Palm and migrated to Android. I wish Google Calendar had some of these features.
By far the BEST program out there! I've been using this since Palm III! Can't recommend it enough! You have no idea what calendar software can do until you have this. How Google or Microsoft hasn't snapped this up is beyond me. Do yourself a favor & get on-board...
I couldn't wait for my new android device to be delivered because I found my old buddy while using a loaner phone. I used to use an equivalent of this on app my Palm devices and there is no calendar app around like it. If u have ADHD, this is the app for you due to all its types of calendar events (e.g., normal, repeating, floating, etc.) So efficient for complex repeating events. In gcal, I have to create 3 calendar events just to try to do what I do with one event in this app. Ty Pimlico!
I am one of those people who used DateBkxx on Palm for years. I bought/installed Pimlico immediatelly from Google Play after finding it. Indeed, my barrier towards using this elaborate app is significantly lower that for majority of Android users. I am far from being happy with it. Sync with google account works worse than in other calendar apps, the tasks do not integrate with google tasks, and application is far from pretty. Installing on the second device requires paying again. Deinstalling.
Highly advanced calendar. If you can imagine it, this calendar can do it. The developer is very responsive and has been writing calendar programs for decades. He knows what he's doing!
The only calendar that allows random repeating appointments. Thank you for years of great work! As I transition to my first iPhone I hope I am able to purchase this quality product again.
Incredibly flexible. So much better that I didn't switch to android until it was ready. Best calendar/ reminder system ever.
Love it! it has lots if flexibility, so takes a bit of time to learn, but its awesome!!!!!!
I was a DateBk3 user in the year 2000 on a Handspring Visor. Now I'm still a Pimlical user more than 20 years later! It's a great product which I rely on to give me featureful access to my Google Calendar.
Going from datebk6 to this is a pain. So darn many options. I wanted a simple palm like app and one that u didnt have to be a computer geek to use.
Galaxy S10e. No sound for events following first alarm in a day after Android 10 update. Will try again after Android 11 update.
Complicated but reminds me of good PIM apps like those in Palm and Treo PDAs. I suggest giving it a try - works great on my BlackBerry Key2!
Been using since DateBook on PalmOS. Several times a week alarms go off but are not visible, so i can't grant 5 stars.
The most customizable date book and contact management app I've ever used. Great tool!
Great app. No need to connect to the internet. Many features for the experienced user.
Awesome!! Best calender /to do app anywhere!
From Palm Datebk days to now. Simply the best.
Best calendar app I have ever used.
wuock and clean& infinitly customizable
Best calendar app that I've used
Awesome. So much customization
While I had used this calendar app for years, I would say maybe 1-2 years ago now the alarm functionality broke when android updated, and will not sound alarms or reminders anymore. I recently contacted them about it providing detailed information and followed up several times but they never contacted me back. Not sure why they have a tech support email if they never bother responding.
