We love Pinna!! We have listened to some amazing podcasts on this platform while driving to school. My oldest daughter has even participated in a couple of episodes of Food Crimes. My only dislike (about the app itself NOT the programming) is that it makes me re-login all the time...which is kind of annoying. It isn't a banking app lol! But the content is fantastic!! So many different genres and age ranges.
My children absolutely love the stories available on this app. It's really a great service. Dream breachers is the current fave! My only complaint is that the app doesn't stay logged in, so I'm constantly having to log in for my kids.
I really like this; so do the kids... But this will not cast my Lenovo smart clocks. I've also tried saying "Hey Google...play pinna" and it never works. Which means I'm only maybe using this in the car... seems like it's not worth it.
I would rate it higher if it were available on smart speaker devices. I just can't allow access to screens nonstop for my kids to use the content. I only renewed this year because it was said to be coming. I'll pause my suscription until it inegrates with Alexa.
Free content is awesome but the paid content is absolutely worth every penny! My 4 year old listens to podcasts on Pinna daily!
Has good content for kids all in one place. There are podcasts and audio books you can't get for free, the fee seems reasonable but there are a few things they need to fix. Such as-I havent found how to create a playlist or save favorite podcasts. The app keeps crashing on my Samsung tablet making for an annoying experience. I wrote to Pinna and they are looking into the issue.
This is great for my 3 y/o who loves story podcasts and audiobooks. There are a couple new podcasts that are perfect for little kids - Piper and the Dots, and ABC Adventures. He loves them, and I think they are well produced and better than the free little kid podcasts I've found. There is also a good selection of audiobooks. Suggested improvements - downloads for offline use and the ability to make playlists (so I don't have to pull the car over and start a new episode every 10 mins!)
Edit - last update fixed the issue. Edit - can't play anything anymore. Edit - crashing issue fixed. Thank you! I love this app and the shows available on it are fantastic. I like to load up a bunch of shows so I don't have to look at my phone while I'm driving. The playlist feature helps us find new shows.
I had been really dubious about whether this app would be worth the money, but it is so great. The content, both original and from other sources, is first rate. We listen to a lot of children's podcasts, and I was pleased to see that many of our favorites are on this app, and without commercials. Plus Pinna's original podcasts are really well done. We started with a free trial in December, and it pays for itself in offering quality, commercial free, audio content.
Yes, you have to pay. No big issue with that. However, for what you get I found it lacking. The only option to play the audio on a different device is bluetooth. There is no Alexa or Google assistant or ChromeCast capability. I did not see a way to download episodes for off-line use which is kind of a deal breaker. You can't listen on theier website, you have to use an app. Content seems okay. But considering something like Netflix costs $12 a month, paying $8/month for the limited audio content and features feels like it is note worth it. I already pay for an audio service ($10/month) that has a ton more content so I don't feel like paying more for such limited content and features.
No Chromecast support. That's an absolute requirement on a kids audio application when you want the content but not the screen. Content is good, but navigation is awful. There is no meaningful way to mine the myriad audiobooks other than by age. There is promise, but not currently worth the premium price. I'm happy to revise my comments as these are addressed.
Have been absolutely loving Pinna! Kids are 6 and 4 and they stay quiet and listen to every word. I think it's a great ad/purchase free environment that keeps kids off screens while being very engaging. Works on listening comprehension as well. The music and sound effects are great additions and really add a lot. Love the variety, my 6 year old loves the 5 for 5 trivia show to learn new things in 5 minutes.
Can't even browse the books to find something to read, every time I open the app and begin to scroll down the app crashes! This is VERY frustrating and makes me wanna just stick with Epic! Kids! Fix this problem and, assuming the app begins working properly, I'll change my rating! Thanks!
My kids and I enjoy the pinna app and would love to gove it 5 stars. However, when we try to use the app it constantly stops playing (even "downloaded" content) and even closes out the app. As much as I don't want to I maybe cancelling soon since it closes out multiple times during each time we use.
Love the content, please fix the app!! Keeps crashing, nearly every 2 minutes at times. This occurs whether we're listening to downloaded content or not. My daughter loves many, many of the podcasts (we initially downloaded the app for Mars Patel, but she has since listened and re-listened to Grim, Grimmer, Grimmest; A-Z mysteries; Opal Watson, and others). We have even recommended the podcasts/app to friends. Please fix!
My five-year-old has been loving the story podcasts. It's been great to have something to entertain him that is not a screen. For all of the negative reviews about no pictures for the books, etc. - these are AUDIO books, music, and podcasts, the point is that you're NOT on a screen. You listen, not watch. Don't negatively review something because you didn't carefully read the description.
Yes some audiobooks are available for free from the library but Pinna is worth it for our family for the Pinna original podcasts plus having high quality engaging kid-friendly audiobooks, podcasts, and music all I in one place and so easy for kids to navigate themselves (and not get into anything they shouldn't). Love Pinna!
Good content, but lacking basic features that are common in free podcast apps, like downloading episodes, having playlists, and more. Without that, it's not worth the premium price.
We love Grim, Grimmer, Grimmest! Honestly, the main reason we tried Pinna was because we listened to the first season of Grim through a free podcast and needed more. There are some other good shows on there. We really enjoy Extra Blurt. I appreciate that we can pick something and know it's going to be good content for my kids.
Love the screen-free content. Wish there was a way to bookmark or favorite shows and stories for the library without having to add them to a playlist.
I'd like to give it 5 stars but now it's crashing as I'm listening. Not sure when this started but it didn't used to crash when I started. Maybe a recent update? But needs to be fixed.
It works well most of the time and it has good potcasts its just somtimes it logs you out or deleates your downloads :)
Unfortunately, i would have enrolled. However i understand many of the parents plight. It really does suck that so many kids cant take advantage of such great apps like this. Not everyone can afford a monthly subscription. I already have a subscription to something else, so i uninstalled the app.
You're a working parent. You'd rather your kid be entertained by listening to something rather than watching something. You hear about Pinna. You get excited and download the app only to find out you have to pay over $7/mth or $80/year. How is it I can listen to wonderful podcasts for free but my kid can't? This is outright pocketbook rape. I would, at the very least, appreciate an option of a free version with ads or a paid option without ads.
The whole family love what Pinna has to offer, and it's great to have content listed by age as well. It's wonderful to be able to have an ad free experience for the kids. (no more annoying honey nut Cheerios ads, huzzah!)
The content is good however the app does beed improvements. Features you'd expect, like adding content to a queue or playlist, appear to be missing. This makes using the app while in the car not ifeal.
Love this app! Fantastic ad free, kid friendly experience with amazing podcasts. Our favourite one is Mars Patel. Not yet able to download to listen offline yet but I'm told the functionality is coming soon
My kids love the content, but the app takes up lots of space, and there's no option to cast to Chromecast.
This app keeps crashing. I can't get through more than 1 or 2 min of content without having to resart it
Fantastic content, poor app. The content is first-rate and my kids love it. But the app often logs you out and it's hard to log back in, you can't cast audio natively, when you cast "by hand" it crashes often, and worst of all, it doesn't work with Android auto (the car is prime time for story listening).
